BEFORE USING THE BATTERY PACK AND CHARGER, READ AND UNDERSTAND ALL OF THE SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS BELOW, AND OBSERVE ALL OF THE CAUTIONARY MARKINGS ON CHARGER, BATTERY PACK, AND THE PRODUCT USING THE BATTERY PACK.
Important Safety Instructions for Charger:
• DANGER! Electrocution hazard. 120 volts are present at charger cord terminals. Do not probe with conductive objects. Electric shock or
electrocution may result.
WARNING: Shock hazard. Do not allow any liquid to get inside charger. Electric shock may result.
CAUTION: Burn hazard. To reduce the risk of injury, charge only Legacy 12 V battery packs that fit the charger included with this tool. Do not attempt to charge any other battery types with this charger. Other types of batteries may burst causing personal injury and damage.
CAUTION: Keep foreign objects out of the battery pack cavity on the charger. Metallic objects in the battery pack cavity can short the exposed charging contacts when the charger is plugged into the power supply. Always unplug the charger when there is no battery pack in the cavity. Unplug charger before attempting to clean.
CAUTION: Charger is intended for use indoors only. Do not expose charger to rain, snow, or frost. Do not place charger on any wet surfaces. Do not place charger in any location where water may drip or splash on the charger or on the surface where the charger rests.
Pull by plug rather than by cord to remove from power supply connection to reduce risk of damage to electric plug and cord. Do not use

charger or plug charger cord into power supply if cord or plug is damaged. Have damaged cord, plug, or strain reliever replaced immediately. Do not attempt to repair power cord or plug.
Make sure cord is located so that it will not be stepped on, tripped over, or otherwise subjected to stress or damage.
• Do not use extension cord unless it is absolutely necessary. Use of improper extension cord could result in risk of fire, electric shock, or electrocution. If an extension cord must be used, make sure the extension cord is properly wired and in good electrical condition. The extension cord must have adequate wire size (AWG or American Wire Gauge) for safety. The smaller the gauge number of the wire, the greater the capacity of the cable. For example, a 16 gauge has more capacity than 18 gauge cord.
For Total Length of Cord: 25ft (7.6 m) to 50ft (15.2 m) --use 18 gauge minimum cord size.
The charger is designed to operate on standard 120 V AC electrical power. Do not attempt to use it on any other
voltage.
• Do not place any object on top of charger or place the charger on a soft surface that might interfere with proper air circulation around and under the charger to avoid excessive internal heat. Place the charger in a position away from any
heat source.
Do not operate the charger if it has received a sharp blow, been dropped, or otherwise damaged in any way. Replace the charger or take it to an authorized service center.
Minimum Recommended Wire Size for Extension cords
SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS
75 ft (22.9 m) to 1 00 ft (30.5 m) -- use 16 gauge minimum cord size. 125ft (38.1 m) to 150ft (45.7 m)- use 14 gauge minimum cord size. 175ft (53.3 m)- use 12 gauge minimum cord size.
Important Safety Instructions for Battery Pack:
• Do not incinerate the battery pack even if it is severely damaged or is completely worn out. The battery pack can explode in a fire.
A small leakage of liquid from the battery pack cells may occur under extreme usage or temperature conditions. If this leakage gets on your skin:
A battery operated tool with integral batteries or a separate battery pack must be recharged only with the specified charger for the battery. A charger that may be suitable for one type of battery may create a risk of fire when used with another battery.
Use battery operated tool only with specifically designated battery pack. Use of any other batteries may create a risk of fire. DO NOT substitute or modify another battery to use with your grease gun. When ordering replacement battery packs, be sure to indicate the specific part number for your tool.
Disconnect battery pack from tool or place the switch in the locked or off position before making any adjustments, changing accessories, or storing the tool. Such preventive safety measures reduce the risk of starting the tool accidentally.

Functional Description
The Legacy 12 V battery charger is for the specific purpose of charging a Legacy 12 V DC battery pack that provides power for the Legacy L 1380 12 V cordless grease gun. The charger is for the initial charging for the battery pack, and recharging of the battery pack as needed during the use of the cordless grease gun. The charger has colored indicator lights to show the charging state of the battery pack during the charge cycle; green indicates the battery pack has been properly inserted into the cavity on the charger and has made electrical contact. After pressing the SET button, the red light will glow, showing the charger has switched to quick-charge mode. Once the battery pack has charged, the red light will go out and the green light will glow, showing the battery is continuing to receive a trickle (maintenance) charge.
Assembly
Inspect battery pack cavity in charger and remove all foreign objects and dirt from cavity. Connect charger to the proper power source. Observing the position of the alignment boss on the battery pack, carefully insert battery pack into cavity on charger. Do not force. The slot in the charger cavity must align with the raised boss on the battery pack.
CHARGER OPERATION: The battery pack is not fully charged out of the carton. Read and understand all of the safety instructions, and then follow the battery charging
instructions that follow.
• Make sure power cord circuit voltage is the same as that shown on the charger. Connect charger to the power source.
• Place battery pack in charger cavity. Do not force. The slot in the charger must align with the raised boss on the battery pack. When proper contacts are made, the green light will appear.
• Press the SET button; the green light will go out and the red light will glow, indicating the charger has switched to quick-charge mode.
Charge the battery for one full hour including quick-charge time prior to initial use.
• When the battery pack is fully charged, the red light will go out and the green light will glow. The battery pack will continue to receive a trickle charge. Remove the battery pack from the charger.
• Disconnect charger power cord from the power source when not charging battery pack.
Important: Battery pack temperature will increase during and shortly after use. The battery pack may not accept a full charge if charged immediately after use. For best results, allow the battery pack to cool to room temperature before charging.
• Once the battery pack has received the necessary charge, insert battery pack into cavity of tool handle, the slot in the tool handle must align with the raised boss on the battery pack. The battery pack will latch into the tool handle when fully inserted. Press tool trigger briefly to check for tool operation.
