TM
The TA1 Line Level Adapter is designed for connecting an Audio/Video Teleconf erencing Hybrid to Lectrosonics automatic mixers. It can also be used to add a line level audio input or interconnect a tape recorder to the mixer.
With the AUTO MIX switch in the “ON” position, the video codec (or other audio source) will participate in the automatic mixing algorithm applied by the mixer. cases, this will eliminate the need for acoustic echo cancellation within the hybrid in teleconferencing applications that use a sound system with multiple microphones and loudspeakers. In addition, an incoming signal from the far end of the telephone or ISDN line will attenuate the gain on the local microphones to eliminate acoustical coupling between microphones and loudspeakers that could cause a feedback loop.
The TA1 picks up a “mix minus” output from the mixer expansion bus. This output contains all inputs connected to the mixer, but does not include the signal connected to the INPUT jack on the TA1.This arrangement provides simultaneous send/receive for a teleconferencing hybrid and prevents the output of a tape recorder in the “record” mode from getting back to the input.
When used with the AM8 or AM16 mixer, TH3 telephone hybrid, and a video codec, 3-site bridging can be accomplished without the need for any other routing device.
The TA1 comes with two 24” eight pin expansion cables, part # 21592.
In many
• Simultaneous 2-wire/4-wire conversion for 3-site conference bridging with AM8 and TH3
TA1 Operating Instructions
Since the TA1 offers level control of the balanced input and output signals, the device is not limited to teleconferencing applications. It can also be used to include any balanced or unbalanced line level signal into the LecNet automatic mixing algorithm.
The TA1 is connected to a LecNet automatic mixer via the Expansion port, i.e. TA1s EXPANSION OUT port is connected to the mixer’s EXP ANSION IN port. The AUTO MIX switch determines if the equipment connected to the mixer will participate in the automatic mixing algorithm. The TA1 is connected to the Audio/Video Teleconferencing Hybrid or other audio device via the INPUTand the OUTPUT XLR jacks in a fully balanced form:

If the device connected to the TA1 has unbalanced Input/ Output connectors, pins 3 & 1 should be jumpered on the TA1 INPUT XLR jack with the input signal applied to pin 2(+) and pin 1(-). To connect the TA1 output to an unbalanced load, no jumpers are required. Simply connect the load to the TA1 OUTPUT XLR pin 2 (+) and pin 1(-).
The level of these signals is controlled via the le vel potentiometers located near the XLR jacks.

OUTPUT
The default state of the TA1 enables 3-site bridging with a LecNet automatic mixer, the TH3 telephone hybrid, and a video codec. To disable this feature, the two jumpers shown above must be in the OFF position. Remove the screws on the front panel and rear side panels and slide the chassis out of the housing for access to the internal jumpers.
