RCW-VLS
Wired Remote Level Attenuator
• Connects directly to the Remote Level Control Port on the AM8 (DB15 connector) and the Programmable Input on the AM16/12 and AM8/4 mixers (DB25 connectors)
• Can be congured to control master level, channel level, or multiple input channels on the AM8
• Can be congured to control the programmable input volume on the AM16/ 12 and AM8/4 mixers
• Jumper selectable attenuation range, 15dB or 30dB w/Mute
The RCW-VLS provides remote level attenuation for one or more mixer channels or it can act as a master level attenuator. Several individual microphone channels on the automatic mixer can be controlled simultaneously if the wiper contacts from those channels are hard-wired together. For the AM16/12 and AM8/4, the LecNet software is required to configure these devices for control of multiple channels. For DM and ASPEN Series, the LecNet2 or ASPEN software is required to configure those devices respectively.
The RCW-VLS is a rotary control mounted on a circuit board and single-gang wall plate for use with the AM Series, DM Series and ASPEN Series automatic mixers. The rotary action has detents for repeatable settings. The unit can be connected to individual channels in any combination or to the main output of the AM, DM or ASPEN Series. Fully clockwise, no attenuation is applied. Fully counter clockwise, the level is either completely attenuated or is reduced to -15dB, depending on how the jumper is set on the circuit board.

Wiring Instructions
The RCW-VLS is a passive device so only one can be implemented per function, i.e. two RCW-VLS devices cannot be connected in parallel or daisy-chained to control the same channel/master level. Furthermore, if several programmable inputs (AM16/12 or AM8/4) or channels (AM8) are hard-wired to a single RCW-VLS, the amount of attenuation is reduced depending on the number of hardwired connections to the WIP connector.
1 Connection — 15 dB maximum attenuation
2 Connections — 12 dB maximum attenuation
3 Connections — 10 dB maximum attenuation
4 Connections — 9 dB maximum attenuation
NOTE:
Attenuator is bypassed when the mixer is in the “REMOTE” mode. See manual for the mixer.
The ACTIVE LED on the front of the RCW-VLS indicates that the mixer is on and that the RCW-VLS is properly connected. This LED will glow red when connected to an AM16/12* and green when connected to an AM8/4. A jumper is provided on the rear panel to adjust the amount of attenuation. There are two positions for the jumper: one is for full attenuation (30dB) and the other is for -15dB attenuation. When the remote potentiometer is fully clockwise in the “10” position, there is no attenuation applied to the mixer.
* Contact the factory at the numbers and addresses listed below if the LED fails to light when used with an AM16/12 automatic matrix mixer.
