Players will have fun playing bingo while learning the value of money. There are two levels of play: level one focuses on coins and bills up to a $1.00 value; level two focuses on coins and bills up to a $40 value.
Contents:
• 4 double-sided bingo cards • Double-sided spinner • 36 Game markers
Object of the Game
Be the first player to cover three spaces in a row, a column, or diagonally with the game markers.
Playing the Game
Each player selects a bingo card and uses the coin side of the card for level one or the dollar bill side for level two. Players may fill their free space with a game marker. Designate one person to be the spinner. The spinner should use the full color side of the spinner for level one and the green side for level two. The spinner begins by spinning and reading the value that was spun, for example, “fifty cents.” Players then look at their game card to see if they have a money combination that equals fifty cents. If they do, they cover the space with a game marker. The spinner should record what was spun to check the winner’s card at the end of the game. The same spinner spins again and game play continues until one player covers three spaces in a row, a column, or diagonally. The winner’s game card should be checked with what was called to make sure the correct values were covered.
Variation
For a longer game, the game play remains the same, but a player must cover their entire game board in order to win.
Additional Bingo Game Activity
Label small items with the money values listed on the back of the guide, choosing either the level one or level two values. Place the labeled items in a paper bag. Then allow one player to pick an item from the bag and have him read the value labeled on the item. When the value is read, each player should look at their game card to see if they have a combination of money that equals the value read. If they do, they cover the space with a game marker. Keep the item out of the bag and have a different player pick out a new item. Game play continues with players taking turns picking out items from the bag until one player covers three spaces in a row, a column, or diagonally. The winner’s game card should be checked with the items out of the bag to make sure the correct coin and dollar values were covered. Return the items to the bag to play again, or allow the players to keep the items.
