Getting Started
BASIC CONTROLS
ON/OFF switch – This switch turns the unit ON or OFF. ACTIVITY buttons – There are four activit y but tons on
the mat. Press each one to start that ac tivit y. To exit the current activit y or s tart a new one, press any of these buttons.
VOLUME switch – Adjust the volume to the desired level, from LOW to MEDIUM to HIGH.
REPEAT – Pres s the cookie jar in the center of the mat to repeat the last direc tion.
RESET button – The control RESET but ton is on the back of the main unit. Pressing the RESET button will reset the unit if an error occurs.
HOW TO PLAY
Slide the ON/OFF switch to on. You will hear a welcome sound, and the phrase “Counting Cookies Math!”

Press an activit y but ton to begin. The four activities are
Activity 1 – Cookie Count Activity 2 – Find The Cookie Activity 3 – What’s Next? Activity 4 – More or Less

Activity 1 – Cookie Count
Press the button to begin. Let’s count the cookies! Listen and count along. Star t on the
zero (0) cookie. As the unit announces the numbers in order, press or step on them, all the way to ten (10). When you’re finished, count backward, starting on the number ten (10) cookie, all the way back to zero!
Activity 2 – Find the Cookie!
Press the button to begin. Mmmm…cookies! Help find the cookies with the right number
of candy dots! As the game calls out a number, find and press or step the matching cookie on the mat! Count carefully!

Activity 3 – What’s Next?
Press the button to begin. Let’s practice counting. After the game calls out three numbers
in sequence (2…3...4), try to f ind the cookie that comes next! Listen carefully. You may need to count backwards! This is a great way to practice counting skills!
Activity 4 – More or Less?
Press the button to begin. Now for a real challenge! Press or step on any cookie. Lis ten
carefully-the game will ask you to find a cookie with a certain number (more or less) candy dots.

For example, if you step on the three (3) cookie, and the unit asks you to find a cookie with four more candy dots, you should press or step on the seven (7) cookie. Keep practicing! This is a great introduction to addition and subtraction!
Note: The Counting Cookies™Play Mat features a non-skid bottom, but players should take care when hopping or running on the mat surface.
Battery Information
Installing or Replacing Batteries
WARNING! To avoid bat ter y leakage, please follow these instruc tions carefully. Failure to follo w these ins tructions can result in battery acid leakage that may cause burns, p ersonal injury, and propert y damage.
Requires: 4 x 1.5V AA batteries and a Phillips screwdriver
• Batteries should be installed or replaced by an adult.
• Counting Cookies™requires (3) three AA batteries
• The batter y compartment is located on the back of the main unit.
• To ins tall bat tery, first undo the screw with a Phillips screwdriver and remove the batter y- compar tment door. Install bat teries as indicated inside the compartment.
• Replace compartment door and secure with s crew.

Battery Care and Maintenance Tips
• Use (4) four AA batteries.
• Be sure to insert bat teries corre c tl y (with adult supervision) and always follow the toy and batter y manufacturer’s instruc tions.
• Do not mix alkaline, standard (carbon-zinc), or rechargeable (nickel-cadmium) batteries.
• Do not mix new and used batteries.
• Inser t bat teries with the correct polarit y. Positive (+) and negative (-) ends must be inser ted in the correc t directions as indicated inside the battery co mpar tment.
• Do not recharge non-rechargeable batteries.
• Only charge rechargeable batteries under adult supervision.
• Remove rechargeable batteries from the toy before charging.
• Only use batteries of the same or equivalent type.
• Do not shor t- circuit the supply terminals.
• Always remove weak or dead batteries f rom the product.
• Remove batteries if produc t will be s tored for an extended period of time.
• Store at room temperature.
• To clean, wipe the sur face of the unit with a dr y cloth.
• Please retain these instruc tions for future reference.
