Piggy Bank

The piggy-bank pocket on the chart includes a mystery decoding pocket.
Use the cards with money values on the front and coded answers on
the back. Insert the backs of the cards into the pig pocket for self­checking activities. Follow the arrow direction on the back of the card
when inserting it into the pig pocket to ensure that the answer will
appear upright.

Customize monetary values with the blank number and word cards.
The name of each coin or bill is listed on the back of each card for
self-checking.

Create money equations with the money cards, an operation card, and
an equation-sign.

Equivalent Values

In how many different ways can a monetary value be represented?
Place a value—$10, for example—at the top of the chart. Have
students figure out various ways to make $10 with the money cards.
Possible answers: two five-dollar bills, five one-dollar bills, and one
five-dollar bill, ten one-dollar bills, and so forth.

Chart Setup

Separate the cards and place them in the storage pockets. Customize
lessons with the blank write-and-wipe cards.

Note: For multiple uses of each card always use a wet-erase marker.
To ensure that your marker doesn’t leave a permanent mark, test it on
the corner of a card. Use a damp cloth to remove marks. Cards will
warp if saturated with water.
