Thank you for choosing the EXP-LED-RL-FX5R rechargeable lantern. Welcome to the next generation of rechargeable
portable hand lanterns.
Please read this instruction manual before using your EXP-LED-RL-FX5R lantern. It includes important operating and
safety instructions. NOTE: Charge the EXP-LED-RL-FX5R Lantern overnight before first use.
The EXP-LED-RL-FX5R lanterns come in 4 basic systems:
GX1 Class 1 Division 1 INDUCTION rechargeable AC 100-240 volt and DC-12 volt cigarette lighter power cord, and an
induction charge rack and a nickel metal hydride battery pack.
GX1 Class 1 Division 1 Power Failure INDUCTION rechargeable AC 100-240 volt and DC 12 volt cigarette lighter power
cord and an induction charge rack and a nickel metal hydride battery pack.
GX2 rechargeable AC 100-240 volt and DC 12 volt cigarette lighter power cord, and a standard contact charge rack and a
6 volt 6 amp hour sealed lead acid battery.
GX2 Power Failure rechargeable AC 100-240 volt and DC 12 volt cigarette lighter power cord, and a standard contact
charge rack and a 6 volt 6 amp hour sealed lead acid battery.
The Power Failure units provide emergency lighting automatically when the power fails.
SAFETY NOTICES
CAUTION: To reduce the risk of explosion, fire, and electrical shock or injury, DO NOT charge your EXP-LED-RL-
FX5R lantern in a hazardous environment. ONLY CHARGE THE EXP-LED-RL-FX5R LANTERN IN NON-HAZARDOUS
ENVIRONMENTS.
DO NOT attempt to recharge your EXP-LED-RL-FX5R Lantern in any charger other than the one supplied.
DO NOT attempt to charge any other product with your with the EXP-LED-RL-FX5R Charge Rack
NEVER leave your EXP-LED-RL-FX5R Lantern on with its lamp face against any surface, including skin, while the
lantern is turned on. The heat buildup may cause burns and or fire.
Careful observation of the charge rack LEDs serves as an important warning of possible malfunction which may
cause battery overcharging. The red LED should be on while the lantern is in the Charge Rack and charging.
When fully charged, the red LED turns off and the green LED turns on. The Lantern is ready for operation. If the
red LED blinks, remove the Lantern from service.
In extremely rare circumstances, an overcharged battery may produce a flammable hydrogen gas. In the
unlikely event that this gas should ignite, personal injury could result.
The EXP-LED-RL-FX5R should note be turned on and off in the Charge Rack.
PLEASE recycle the battery.
DO NOT INCINERATE THE BATTERY. IT CAN EXPLODE IN A FIRE.

Handle the battery carefully. Never allow it to short circuit. It can deliver hundreds of Amperes of current and
cause a fire.
CHARGE RACK AND CHARGING
To release the Lantern from the rack, squeeze the on-off switch of the Lantern and lift the Lantern up
and out of the Charge Rack.
To charge the Lantern, simply place the Lantern into the Charge Rack. It automatically locks in place and
starts charging.
CHARGE RACK MOUNTING
The charge rack is mounted by removing the 2 mounting screws at the top of the charge rack and sliding the metal
mounting bracket off the charge rack, then using 4 screws or bolts, attach the metal rack to the desired surface, then
slide the charge rack on to the metal mounting bracket and replace the 2 mounting screws in the top of the charge rack.
POWER SUPPLY
1. Never directly wire any Charge Rack directly to any 120 volt AC power source. It is intended for 12-15 volt DC
only.
2. Make sure that the installation is fused. 2 amps per unit are recommended.
LAMP REPLACEMENT (FOR GX2 Model Only)
Before replacing the halogen bulb, make sure it is cool before touching. Use of gloves and safety glasses are
recommended while changing the bulb.
To remove the lamp, unscrew the lamp ring by rotating the ring counter clockwise.
Then pull the reflector assembly out of the lantern and unscrew the lamp socket from the reflector.
Pull the bulb straight out of the lamp socket.
Repeat the procedure in reverse to replace the bulb.
VEHICLE POWER REQUIREMENTS
Maximum ampere draw from a completely discharged lantern is 2 Amps for the first 10 hours and 35 Amps from then
on. Nominal charging current is 1 Amp.
