SECTION 1: OPERATOR CONTROLS
STEERING ARM REMOVAL
1. Loosen and remove two steering arm retaining bolts.
2. Slide steering arm up and off of the drive control stub.
3. Repeat steps 1 through 2 for other side.

1. Slide steering arm to desired height and install pivot
bolt and nut.
NOTE: Do not tighten at this time.
2. Install bolt and nut in arm adjustment slot.
3. Adjust arms to desired angle.

4. Tightenall fasteners to standardtorque. See charton
page 63.
5. Repeat steps 1 through 4 for other side.

PARK BRAKE REMOVAL
1. Disconnect battery to prevent accidental shock and
chock wheels for safety.
NOTE: For ease ofaccess seatpan assemblymay be
removed.
2. Loosen and remove battery hold-down bracket.
NOTE: For ease of access remove battery and
battery tray.
3. Remove brake return spring from battery hold-down
post and park return link.

4. Remove hair cotter pin from park linkage rod.
5. Remove park returnlink, and pull the park linkage rod
from the control pivot shaft.

6. Remove hair cotter pin, and hardware, from park
return link at rear of unit.
7. Remove park link rod from the park lever shaft
weldment.

8. Remove hair cotterpins and hardwarefrom upperand
lower sections of the spring link clip.
9. Remove spring link clips from the park lever shaft
weldment and parking paw.
10. Repeat step 9 for spring link clip on other side.

11. Loosen and remove bolt from park shaft bushing
plate.
12. Repeat step 11 for park shaft bushing plate on other
side.
13. Remove park lever shaft weldment.

PARK BRAKE INSTALLATION
1. Install park shaft bushing plate on to one trans-axle.
NOTE: Do not tighten at this time.
2. Placeone matching end of parklever shaft weldment,
with bushing, into shaft bushing plate installed in step 1.

3. Place park shaft bushing plate and bushing on other
end of park lever shaft.
4. Align and install park lever shaft weldment and
bushing plate on the opposite side installed in step 1 to
trans-axle.
5. Tightenall fasteners to standardtorque. See charton
page 63.

6. Assemble spring link clips and align and install on the
park lever shaft weldment and parking paw.
7. Secure spring link clip assembly with hair cotter pins
and hardware.
8. Repeat steps 6 through 7 for other side.

9.Insert park linkage rod throughframe andattach tothe
park lever shaft weldment.
NOTE: Ensure that the park linkage rod is correctly
aligned under the control pivot shaft.
10. Securepark linkage rodto park levershaft weldment
with cotter pin and hardware.

11.Align andinstall parklinkage rodinto thecontrol pivot
shaft.

12. Align and install park return link onto park linkage
rod.
NOTE: Ensure thatthecurve ofthe return parklink is
installed toward the control pivot shaft.
13. Securereturn park linkand park linkagerod with hair
cotter pin.

14. Align and install brake return spring from battery
hold-down post and park return link.
15. Align and install battery hold-down bracket.
16. Reconnect battery and remove chocks from wheels.

CONTROL ARM AND SHAFT REMOVAL
1. Disconnect battery to prevent accidental shock and

3. Remove battery and battery tray. See battery
assembly removal instructions on page XX.

4. Disconnect and remove park return link and linkage
rod. See park brake removal instructions on page XX.
5. Remove steering arms. See steering arm removal
instructions on page 4.
6. Loosen set screw on brake lever and remove handle.

7. Unlock and remove retaining cap on rod end of drive
control damper.
NOTE: Damage may occur to damper if cap is not
unlocked before removal.
8. Remove drive control damper from ball stud on steer
arm support.
9. Repeat steps 7 through 8 for other side.

10. Loosen set screwon steer armsupport lockingcollar.
11. Repeat step 10 for other side.

12. Loosen set screw on the park brake interlock.
Land Pride
NOTE: Set screw must be fully screwed out to clear
alignment cut-out on the control pivot shaft.
13. Repeat step 12 for other side.

14. Loosen and remove the nuts securing the pump
adjuster rod on both ends.
15. Remove the pump adjuster rod.
NOTE: For ease of removal, angle rod in steer arm
support.

16. Repeat steps 14 through 15 for other side.

17. Slide the control pivot shaft to the right to allow
removal ofthe left handsteer arm supportand hardware.
NOTE: Control pivot shaft will not slide to the left
due to park linkage rod mount location.

18. Remove the left hand steer arm support, brake
interlock, and locking collar from control pivot shaft.
19. Slide the control pivot shaft to the left and back
through frame mount.
20. Remove the right hand steer arm support, brake
interlock, and locking collar from the control pivot.

21. Remove the control pivot shaft from frameby sliding
the right side up and through the steer arm support
opening.
22. Once control pivot shaft has cleared the left side of
frame, slide left and out of unit.

CONTROL ARM AND SHAFT INSTALLATION
NOTE: Criticalto correct installation thatthe control
pivot shaftis installed intounit with park linkage rod
mount to the left side.
1. Slide right side of control pivot shaft through the right
hand steer arm support opening.
2.Continue toslide controlpivotshaft tothe rightuntil left
side clears the frame and can be aligned into the left
hand control pivot shaft mounting hole.

3.Slide controlpivot shaftto theleft andinstall righthand
lock collar, steer arm support and brake interlock.
4. Align right hand control assembly with control pivot
shaft mounting hole and slide shaft to the right.

5.Slide controlpivot shaftto theright andinstall lefthand
lock collar, steer arm support and brake interlock.
6. Align left hand control assembly with control pivot
shaft mounting hole and slide the shaft left.
7. Align and install the pump adjuster rod onto the steer
arm support and the bell crank lever.
8. Repeat steps 6 through 7 for other side.
9. Tightenall fasteners to standardtorque. See charton
page 63.

10. Align and install brake handle into control pivot shaft.
11. Tighten set screw for brake handle.

12. Align park brake interlock with cut-out in the control
pivot shaft and seat set screw down for alignment.
NOTE: Donot tighten setscrew on brakeinterlock at
this time.
13. Align control assembly and secure with lock collar.
14. Repeat steps 12 through 13 for other side.

15. Place brake handle in the lock position.
16. Tighten set screw in the park brake interlock.
NOTE: Ensure that the park brake interlock is in the
locked position.

17. Align and install the drive control damper on to the
ball stud of steer arm support.
18. Secure drive control damper with retaining cap on
rod end.

20. Install battery tray. See battery assembly instillation
on page XX.
21.Align and installpark returnlink andlinkage rod. See
park brake instillation instructions on page 7.

23. Reconnect battery and remove chocks from wheels.

DECK LIFT REMOVAL
1.Block wheels forsafety andplace blocksunder mower
deck.
2. Remove deck height stop and lower deck onto blocks.
NOTE: Ensurethat deck chains have slack when the
lift arm is fully lowered.

3. Loosen and remove bolt from deck chain on the deck
lift pivot.
4. Repeat step 3 for the other three deck chain
assemblies.
NOTE: The front left deck chain is attachedto the lift
adjusting yoke.

5. Remove e-ring clip from deck height pawl pin and
remove pin.
6. Remove deck height pawl.

7. Remove e-ring clip from deck height gage trunion.
8. Remove deck height gage bar trunion from the lift
pedal lever.

NOTE: Start deck lift rod removal at front to release
spring tension.
9. Loosen lift rod trunion jam nuts.
10. Remove e-ring from lift rod trunion and pull trunion
from the deck lift pivot.

12. Loosen and remove spring tensioner nut,
compression washer, spring, and tension washer.

13. Loosenand remove rear lift rodtrunion and jam nuts.

14. Remove e-ring clip from rear lift rod trunion and
remove trunion from deck lift pivot.

DECK LIFT INSTALLATION
1. Align and install rear lift rod trunion in deck lift pivot.
2. Secure rear lift rod trunion with e-ring clip.

3. Install trunion jam nut on lift rod. Thread jam nut 3"
onto lift rod.
4. Alignand install liftrod into rearlift rod trunionthrough
spring tension bracket.
5. Install the outer trunion jam nut and thread on 1" from
end of rod to flange of jam nut.
6. Snug the inner trunion jam nut. This will be tightened
during the adjustment of rods.

7. Align and install spring tension washer, spring,
compression washer and tension nut on lift rod.
8. Compress spring with tension nut. Ensure to tighten
the tension nut far enough on to install front trunion.

9. Install inner jam nut on front of lift rod.
10.Install fronttrunionand alignwithdeck liftpivot mount
hole.
11. Install outer jam nut.
12. Snug the jam nuts to front trunion. This will be
tightened during the adjustment of the rods.

13. Install front lift rod trunion into the deck lift pivot.
14. Secure front lift rod trunion with e-ring clip.
15. Repeat steps 1 through 14 for other side.

16.Align and installdeck heightgage bar trunion into the
lift pedal lever.
17. Secure height gage bar trunion with e-ring clip.

18. Align and install deck height gage bar in frame.
19. Align and install deck height pawl and pin.
20. Secure deck height pawl with e-ring clip.

21. Align and install deck lift chain in deck lift pivot.
22. Repeat step 21 for other three deck chain
assemblies.
NOTE: Front left deck lift chain is installed with the
lift adjusting yoke.

23. Install deck height stop.
24. Adjust deck lift rods for correct operation. See deck
adjustment on page 67.
25. Remove chock and deck blocks.

CONTROL PANEL REMOVAL
1. Disconnect battery to prevent accidental shock and
chock wheels for safety.
2. Loosen and remove the choke cable and the throttle
cable from engine. See engine removal on page 50.
3. Remove securing ties on these cables to the control
panel.

4. Loosenand remove cross headbolts on control panel.
5. Lift panel out and unplug all electrical connectors.
NOTE: When disconnecting connectors, note
location and orientation.

6. Feed the choke cable and throttle cable through
opening in base of fuel tank.

CONTROL PANEL INSTALLATION
1. Feed the choke cable and throtle cable through
opening in base of fuel tank.
NOTE: Ensure correct routing of cables to engine to
prevent binding or rubbing.

2. Connect electrical connectors to control panel. See
wiring schematic on page 39

3. Align and install the choke and throtle cables to
engine. See engine installation on page 52.
4. Secure cables with new securing ties.
5. Align and install control panel.
6. Secure control panel with cross head bolt.
7. Tightenall fasteners to standardtorque. See charton
page 63.
