mat ically. The die hea l is closed auto mat ically during
th r tur n travel of the carriage . T he operator has the
period from the in ta nt that the grips close until th e
r turn of the carriage to dispose of a finished work-
piece and elect the next piece to be th readed .
The design of the grip operating mechani sm is
uch t hat the effort requir ed to open the gripp er jaws
i very light, the reby redu cing operat ing fat igue to the
very m1mmun1.
The gripper uni t consists of an efficient , spring
loaded togg le mecha nism completely housed in the
carn age. A set of grip s is requir ed for each diam eter
of work within the capacity range of t he machine .
Grip of a type for holding the work either by the
body or head are ava ilable. Th e design of the grippe r
uni t perm its loading work from the top of th e grip so
the carriage travel can be held to a ffilnimum for any
combinat ion of length of thread and length of work
