reagents. For your safety, read label and accompanying MSDS before using.
To order individual reagents or test kit components, use the specified code
number.
NOTE: This procedure uses the EPA approved SPADNS Reagent
System for fluoride found in method 4500-F-D, 17th Edition of Standard
Methods for the Examination of Water and Wastewater, page 4 - 89.
PRO CE DURE
NOTE: Read the Model DC1100 Colorimeter Instruction Manual
before proceeding. Carefully wipe tubes dry before inserting into the
colorimeter chamber.
1. Rinse and fill a clean colorimeter tube (0967) to the 10 mL line
with fluoride-free demineralized water.
2. Use the 0.5 mL pipet (0353) to add 0.5 mL of *Sodium Arsenite
Solution (4128). Cap and mix contents.
3. Use the 1.0 mL pipet (0354) to add 2 measures of *Acid-Zirconyl
SPADNS Reagent (3875). Cap and mix thoroughly. This is the
reagent blank.
4. Insert tube into the colorimeter chamber. Press the “ON/OFF”
button and adjust to 0 ppm with the “SET BLANK” knob. Remove
blank sample.
5. Rinse and fill a second colorimeter tube to 10 mL line with sample
water.
6. Use the 0.5 mL pipet (0353) to add 0.5 mL of *Sodium Arsenite
Solution (4128). Cap and mix contents.
7. Use the 1.0 mL pipet (0354) to add 2 measures of *Acid-Zirconyl
SPADNS Reagent (3875). Cap and mix thoroughly.
8. Insert the tube into the colorimeter chamber and press the
“ON/OFF” button. Record result in (ppm) Fluoride as soon as
reading stabilizes.
