To order individual reagents or test kit components, use the specified code
number.
NOTE: This test allows the analyst to use different sample volumes to
vary equivalencies. Select the appropriate sample volume from the table
below and add reagents as specified.
SAMPLE SIZE
25 mL1 dr = 10 ppm
10 mL1 dr = 25 ppm
5 mL1 dr = 50 ppm
EQUIVALENCE
(ppm Per Drop)
PRO CE DURE
1. Rinse sample tube with sample water. Fill with desired sample size
selected from table above.
2. If sulfites are present, add 5 drops of *Hydrogen Peroxide, 3%
(6091WT). Swirl for 30 seconds.
3. Add *Phenolphthalein Indicator, 0.5% (2258) as follows:
25 mL 2 drops
10 mL1 drop
5 mL1 drop
Mix. If solution is pink add *Sulfuric Acid, 0.5N (6090WT), one
drop at a time, swirling after each drop, until pink color changes to
colorless. If solution is colorless, proceed to Step 4.
4. Add *Chloride Reagent A (4069WT) as follows:
25 mL5 drops
10 mL 2 drops
5 mL1 drop
Mix. Solution will turn yellow.
5. Add *Silver Nitrate, 0.171N (3824WT), one drop at a time, swirling
and counting the number of drops, until the color turns
orange-brown.
6. Multiply number of drops used in Step 5 as follows:
25 mLmultiply by 10
10 mLmultiply by 25
5 mLmultiply by 50
Record as ppm Chloride.
