GRILLING POSITIONS
The Fold-out Grill has two cooking positions for you to use, depending on your recipe.
Double-sided grilling in the closed position
For searing both sides of food without having to turn it, the top and bottom hotplates are in contact with your food. The grill should always be in this position when it is preheating.
Use this position when you need your food cooked on both sides. The height slider allows you to set the top hotplate at five different heights, so delicate ingredients or thicker cuts of meat and fish are not crushed.
Move the slider to the bottom notch to unlock. Use the handle to open the grill with one hand, with the other hand set the height slider to the correct height for your food.
10
The top hotplate tilts on its hinge. After adjusting the height, tilt it with your hand so it is parallel to the bottom hotplate to make sure your food is cooked evenly. Use oven gloves.
When adding or removing food, open the grill using the handle until the top hotplate locks into an upright position.
You can angle the bottom hotplate toward the drip tray in this position to drain away fat and juices for healthier grilling. Reach underneath the base unit and flip the two front feet out.
Gratinating
You can set the top hotplate to the highest height and position it above your food, to melt cheese on open melt sandwiches, or toast buns.
Single sided grilling in the open position
Grill in the open position for communal ‘barbeque’ cooking at the table, and grilling large amounts of food. Press the fold-out button and use the handle to open up the grill flat and double your cooking surface. The grill should also be in this position when you are adding or removing the grill plates. This position also allows you to keep different types of food separate whilst cooking.
11
To angle the top hotplate towards the drip tray in this position, reach inside the handle, on each side there are two fold-out feet. Flip these out so they angle the top hotplate towards the drip tray.

To ‘lock’ the hotplates together
• The hotplates can be locked together, so that the grill can be easily picked up by the handle to move, or store.
• The grill must be switched off, and completely clean and cooled.
• Move the slider to the bottom ‘ ‘ unlock position to completely close the grill plates.
Then slide it up one notch to lock ‘ ‘. This locks the plates, you can move the grill
holding the handle.
12
INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
Make sure both hotplates are fixed securely on the grill before switching on, otherwise the grill will not preheat properly. Never plug in and switch on the grill without the hotplates.
Grilling in the closed position
• Place the Fold-out Grill near a socket on a flat heat resistant surface or heatproof board to catch any juices that may escape during cooking. The grill should only be used in a well ventilated area, at least 30cm away from walls and other surfaces to allow sufficient airflow. Make sure the temperature dial is turned to ‘ ‘.
• Move the height slider to ‘ ‘ to unlock.
• You do not need to add extra oil when grilling. If oil is required add it now, open the grill using the handle ensure the hotplates are completely dry before brushing or wiping lightly with kitchen towel coated with a little oil. Add oil sparingly or the hotplates will smoke. Close the top hotplate. The grill should always be in the closed position when it is preheating.
• Plug into the socket and switch on.
• Select the temperature you would like to cook at, between 90°C - 230°C. The power light will come on to show the grill is switched on.
• When you switch on the Fold-out Grill for the first time there may be a slight burning
smell. This is normal for a new product and will disappear after a few uses. So we
advise heating up the grill empty on first use.
• After a few minutes, the ‘ready’ light will come on to show the hotplates have heated up to temperature and the grill is ready to use. Always ensure the ‘ready’ light has come on, otherwise your food may stick and not cook through properly.
• Use the handle to open the grill with one hand with the other hand set the height slider to the correct height for your food, between 1 to 5. The hotplates should be in contact with the food, but not squashing it. You may need to tilt the top hotplate with your hand so it is parallel to the bottom hotplate to cook your food evenly. Use oven gloves.
• Open the grill using the handle until the top plate locks into an upright position. Add your food to the bottom hotplate.
• Do not use metal utensils with the grill, this will damage the non-stick coating on the
hotplates. Use heat resistant plastic or wooden utensils.
13
• Close the grill using the handle. The ready light may go off for a while as the grill has lost heat whilst open.
• You can open the grill whilst cooking to check progress.
• Once your food is cooked, turn the temperature dial to ‘ ‘ and switch off and unplug at the socket. Open the grill using the handle, remove your food and serve.
• Allow the appliance to cool down completely before removing the hotplates, moving or cleaning.
• Empty the drip tray and clean it after every use.
Grilling in the open position
• Follow the instructions above, but after the grill has preheated in the closed position, press the fold-out button and use the handle to open up the grill flat.
