The LAIRD LTM-DVBETA is a unique product that bridges the gap between the high performance DIGITAL SDI products such as SONY BETACAM SX, BVW-55, DNW-A25 video production equipment and Fire Wire DV. This product is designed to seamlessly provide Bi-directional signal conversion from 1394 DV to SMPTE -259M SDI DIGITAL with embedded AES/EBU audio and VITC(SMPTE 12M) input/output.
SONY based RS422 machine control over firewire is also provided for perfect NLE interface. The LTM-DVBETA is a powerful yet compact cost effective solution for both field production and studio post applications. Housed in a compact 12VDC powered enclosure, the LTM-DVBETA operates in PAL or NTSC with auto detect and features both 6pin and 4pin firewire connectors. This lightweight package can be set up for field operations where DV cameras are being converted to SDI with embedded audio. Back in the studio, the unit can be used for SDI conversion to DV for archival or DV based NLE editing.
LTM-DVBETA is a portable bi-directional DV over 1394a to SMPTE-259M compliant SDI converter with embedded AES/EBU digital stereo audio. The converter supports DVITC time code in the SDI data stream and also provides separate VITC input and output for compatible decks via two BNC connectors (SMPTE 12M).The embedded audio transmitter and receiver conform to SMPTE 272-A (audio at 48kHz, synchronous to video).

A. No deck connected. VITC signal present. Timecode from VITC is sent over
IEEE 1394
B. Deck present. VITC signal present. Timecode from VITC is sent over IEEE 1394 C. Deck present, no VITC.The timecode is initialized with the deck’s timecode.
Timecode counts for each new frame that is transmitted over DV. Slight skew may occur between deck and LTM-DVBETA.
D. LTM-DVBETA timecode is re-synchronized with the deck when AVC_PLAY is
received
E. No deck or VITC. LTM_DVBETA maintains free run timecode. The TC is initial-
ized with zero and counts upward
