The LaCie 4big Quadra Enterprise Class is the most complete 4-bay
RAID solution for professionals who need R AID performance and
encryption protection for their data. Featuring seven RAID modes and
four interfaces for full compatibility, the 4big Quadra Enterprise Class
also integrates four internal SATA server-grade disks for quality and
more robust performance.
Enterprise Class Performance
With its 24K gold-plated contacts and SATA Enterprise internal
disks, the LaCie 4big Quadra Enterprise Class has great
performance and capabilities. Taking advantage of a native R AID
controller that preserves computer resources, the LaCie 4big
Quadra Enterprise Class offers superior support for the most
speed demanding applications. Pre-configured in R AID 5 for full
speed and data protection, it can reach up to 230MB/s* through
eSATA 3Gb/s, in RAID 0 and in RAID 5. Alternative RAID modes
can be configured in seconds upon startup to manage speed,
security, and available capacity.

Enterprise Class Protection
The LaCie 4big Quadra Enterprise Class has been developed
to keep your data safe and secure. Featuring the option to
implement advanced 128-bit AES hardware encryption, it’s
perfect for professionals who need to protect files and data
from any unauthorized access. In addition to keeping your data
safe, the LaCie 4big Quadra Enterprise Class features secure
RAID modes, including R AID 5, RAID 3, and R AID 10 for full
security and drive failure support. In these configurations, hotswappable disk trays even allow maintenance without affecting
your workflow. Extra spare disks are also available on the LaCie
website as an option for immediate replacement and RAID
protection rebuilding.

Professional Streaming Performance
The LaCie 4big Quadra Enterprise Class has been
developed to suit the demands of creative professionals, like
editors who work with Apple® Final Cut Pro®, the Adobe®
Creative Suite®, or other programs. The 24K gold-plated
contacts on its cables offer accurate and fast signal transfer. For professionals
who need high transfer rates, the eSATA 3Gb/s and FireWire 800 interfaces
will let them get the fastest bandwidth. When used in RAID 0 or R AID 5, the
LaCie 4big Quadra Enterprise Class supports multiple audio, DV, SD, and
HD streams, and up to one stream of uncompressed 10-bit NTSC video in
playback. Greater performance can even be achieved by connecting up to
four units together to a multilane eSATA four-port host adapter, in order to
support multi-stream uncompressed 10-bit 1080i HD post-production.

Backup, Restore, and Recover
The LaCie 4big Quadra Enterprise Class comes with Genie Backup
Manager ProTM for Windows® and Intego Backup Manager ProTM
for Mac®. This software lets you to reliably and efficiently back up
your documents, emails, settings, or other digital assets. With its
ease of use, you can either program the LaCie Shortcut Button with
the LaCie Desktop Manager to launch a backup with one push, or
schedule and customize the type of backup you create. Ideal for
creative professionals, the Genie and Intego programs can easily
find previous versions of your documents and restore them. With
computer recovery options, professionals will be able to restore their
configuration and to go right back to work in the event of a disaster
with their workstation. It’s easy to back up directly from your Mac
with the native solution, since the LaCie 4big Quadra Enterprise
Class is compatible with Time Machine®▼.

Enterprise Class Disks
The LaCie 4big Quadra Enterprise Class comes with SATA internal Enterprise
Class disks with an unbeatable 5-year warranty. These high-quality internal
disks feature 32MB cache memory and 7200RPM, and target an ambitious
1.2 million hours MTBF (Mean Time Before Failure). Designed for a R AID
tower, they have been developed with rotational vibration resistance
technology, helping them to be even more reliable and robust. Spare drives
are also available on the LaCie website so users have the option to keep full
protection for their data in secure R AID configurations.
Quiet and Reliable Operation
For the best and most reliable cooling system for the LaCie 4big
Quadra Enterprise Class, LaCie has chosen Noctua and the
NF-P12 fan technology, designed in Austria, and automatically
thermoregulated by SMART commands. The nine-blade design and
the vortex-control notches of the blower provide superior pressure and
airflow performance, all at a volume fewer than 19dBA. The bestin-its-class Noctua NF-P12 is rated at 150,000 hours MTBF, and its
ultra-quiet design makes it perfect for even the most noise-sensitive
creative environment. This attention to detail allows the LaCie 4big
Quadra Enterprise Class to be from 30% (seek) to 46% (idle) quieter
than traditional comparable systems.

Power Savings
Traditional RAID systems can consume a lot of power, but the
LaCie 4big Quadra Enterprise Class is different. LaCie has reduced
power consumption by 30%■ compared to the previous 4-disk R AID
generations. Moreover, with the “Auto” mode of the triple position
power button, the 4big is able to automatically go into standby
mode—synchronized with the computer activity—and reduces the
power consumption by up to 80%. For maintenance, the LaCie
4big Quadra Enterprise Class can optionally be disconnected from
the computer during a R AID protection rebuild—the LaCie 4big
Quadra Enterprise Class will complete the task in standalone mode,
and you can switch off your computer!
