The machine has to be unplugged before any manipulation.
The machine is to be used on a flat surface, if the surface is not flat, it is to be fixed using
the holes in the base plate.
Do not leave the power cable in a passageway.
The ambient light of the working area needs to be sufficient to avoid any risk.
The unwinder can be used in ambient temperatures of +2°C to 40°C.
Connection of the machine to the power source must respect local and European
legislations.
SET-UP:
The UCAT-3 is bi-directional. It can unwind labels in either direction.
First install the Control Arm referring to the enclosed TA User Manual. (if you have the ACH Adjustable Core Holder option Skip to step 4).
1. STANDARD AND 10": Identify the inner Label Flange Plate. Slide the Flange Plate
onto the hollow end of the Unwind Shaft. For maximum width, the Flange face should be flush with the end of the Shaft. Tighten the screw in the Hub until it is snug. Not too tight.
2. CHUCK: Mount the inner Flange onto the Quick-Chuck with two screws provided.
3. Slide the Shaft and Flange Assembly onto the UCAT-3 Motor Shaft allowing for
clearance to the UCAT-3 Chassis and Control Arm. Tighten the Allen Screw onto the flat part of the Motor Shaft until it is tight.
4. ACH: Slide the Hub of the ACH over the motor Shaft of the UCAT-3. Position the Hub
so there is a gap between the ACH Hub and the Rewinder Drive Unit case. Tighten the Allen Screw onto the flat part of the Motor Shaft until it is tight.
5. Set the UCAT-3 in place near the label entrance path to the printer.
6. CAUTION: AVOID ACCIDENTS. THE UCAT-3 WEIGHS OVER 10KG (22Lb), SO
CHOOSE ONLY A STURDY SURFACE ON WHICH TO SET THE UNIT.
7. Verify that the "DIRECTION" Switch on the UCAT-3 Control Panel is in the "OFF"
position.
8. Plug the Power Plug at the end of the wire on the AC Wall Transformer into the
UCAT-3 Power Input Jack. Plug the AC Transformer into an appropriate AC power outlet. The unit is now ready for use.
FOR YOUR SAFETY:
Switch off device before any manipulation.
POWER UNWINDING:
1. Place the roll of labels to be unwound on the UCAT-3.
2. Run the labels under the Unwinder Control Arm and into the printer.
3. Place the UCAT-3 DIRECTION switch in the desired position according to which direction you want the UCAT-2 to feed the labels.
4. Place the REWIND – SLIT Switch in the REWIND position and set the TORQUE ADJUST about 1/3 rotation as an initial setting.
5. Start your printer and observe how the labels are being fed into the printer.
6. Adjust the TORQUE Control as needed to provide faster or slower unwind. As the printer uses the labels, the Control Arm will rise, causing the Unwinder to turn on and feed more labels. As the Unwinder feeds more labels, the labels and the Control Arm will drop down, turning off the Unwinder until more labels are needed and the Control Arm is lifted again.
EXTERNAL HALT CONTROL: An External Halt Control jack on the UCAT-3 is for use with external devices capable of
providing an open circuit halt command. A 3.5mm control cable is necessary for use (not included).
With Pin 2 and Pin 3 of the External Halt Control circuit closed (connected together using a 3.5mm dual circuit plug), the UCAT-3 will operate. When the External Circuit is opened, the UCAT-3 will stop.
