Transfer Chamber Pressure Gauge Kit No. 5237900
Operation
The Transfer Chamber Pressure Gauge Kit monitors pressure/vacuum from 0 to -29 inches of mercury and includes the vacuum gauge, hose, and fittings. This Transfer Chamber Pressure Gauge Kit can be added only to the Precise Basic Glove Box. The Precise Controlled Atmosphere Glove Box already includes a transfer chamber pressure gauge. The installation requires a 0.562 diameter hole in the transfer chamber; if needed, a 0.562" hole saw (#5250603) and arbor (#5250500) may be ordered from Labconco. Follow the installation procedure and pictorial to properly install the Transfer Chamber Pressure Gauge.
Installation Procedure
1. Refer to the pictorial and remove the small round metal plate covering up the right side
round hole in the front panel.
2. Tighten the brass female connector to the rear of the gauge with Teflon tape to prevent leaks.
3. Attach the pressure gauge to the front panel with the hardware included.
4. Replace the top portion of the label on the control panel with the label with two large
holes from the kit. The remainder of the label can be discarded and is not needed.
5. Cut two 27" sections of clear 3/8 OD x 3/16 ID polyvinyl tubing.
6. Install the bulkhead union in the rear corner of the upper glove box sheet metal per
Detail A.
7. Connect one section of clear polyvinyl tubing between the pressure gauge and the
bulkhead union. Follow Detail B and the Compression Fitting Installation View for proper orientation of the tube insert, female connector, and compression nut with internal ferrules, otherwise leaks can occur. By using two adjustable wrenches, tighten the compression nut 1-1/4 turns and prevent the gauge from rotating with the other wrench.
8. Per View E-E, drill a 0.562" diameter hole in the center of the boss located on the rear of
the transfer chamber. If needed, a 0.562" hole saw (#5250603) and arbor (#5250500) may be ordered from Labconco.
9. Follow Section C-C to mount the bulkhead fitting, O-rings, and nut from the kit. The nut
and second O-ring are located inside the transfer chamber. Connect the second section of clear polyvinyl tubing between the bulkhead union and the transfer chamber. The tube insert must be placed inside the polyvinyl tubing to prevent leaks at the transfer chamber. By using two adjustable wrenches, tighten the compression nut 1-1/4 turns and prevent the bulkhead fitting from rotating with the other wrench.
10. Installation is now complete and the pressure gauge kit should hold vacuum if properly
assembled.
