Introduction-
Manifolds are ideal for Lyophilizing in serum bottles, ampules or small flasks. They come
complete with Neoprene valves to which the sample container attaches. The Manifold may be
used in conjunction with Labconco 6, 12, and 18 Liter Freeze Dryers. Refer to your Freeze Dry
System Instruction Manual for directions about adding samples and freeze drying them.
Installation of Manifold (Refer to Figure 1)
1. Start installing a 1/4" socket head cap screw into the front right hand threaded hole at the
3" vacuum port. Do Not tighten.
2. Slide the flexible coupling onto the round tube on the bottom of the manifold. Do Not

and aligning the screw into the slot on the bottom flange.

The following steps apply to 20 Port Manifold 7522500 only.

Valve Operation
When the Freeze Dry system is started the valves should all be in the vent position. (The bevel
on the knob should point away from the sample port). See Figure 3. This will allow vacuum to
build up in the system.
Figure 3
When the system is ready to begin Lyophilization, attach the sample container to the valve.
Apply vacuum to the sample by rotating the knob to the vacuum position. (The bevel on the
knob should be positioned toward the sample port). See Figure 4.
Figure 4
Let the samples run until primary and secondary freeze-drying is complete. Release vacuum by
turning the valve to the vent position. The vent port may also be used to introduce sterile air or
dry Nitrogen into the sample container.
