Thank you for buying gasoline motor pump Könner & Söhnen. This Operation
Manual contains safety precautions, use description and adjustment of motor
pumps Könner & Söhnen KS 50, KS 80, KS 100, KS 50HP, KS 80TW as well
as maintenance procedures.
The manufacturer can make some changes which can be not represented
in this Operation Manual, that is to say: the manufacturer reserves the right
to change product design, complete equipment and construction. All photos
and gures in this Operation Manual are schematic and can be dierent from
actual product components and captions.
At the end of this Operation Manual you can nd contact information you can use
if there are any problems.
All information in this Operation Manual is up-to-date by the time it was
published.

SAFETY INFORMATION
Following safety requirements are binding in all cases of use of gasoline
motor pump Könner & Söhnen:
- Before the first use please read this Operation Manual and keep it for
future use.
- Please get information about functions and control elements.
- Please learn how you can stop engine and motor pump units during their
operation fast, properly and safely.
- To avoid injuires and damages of motor pump during its operation, please
fulfil directions and recommendations contained in this Operation Manual
when operating device.
- The gasoline motor pump shall be put into operation only by people in
good mental and physical condition.
- Never use motor pump after drinking alcohol or using drugs as well as
medicine which can exert negative influence on the worker reaction.
- The gasoline motor pump Könner & Söhnen is dedicated only for water
pumping. The motor pump cannot be used for purposes other than intended.

Never pump chemical solutions, high-active, combustible, caustic
liquid substances, solvents or gasoline with motor pump!
- The motor pump cannot be operated by users who have not read this Operation
Manual as well as by children.
- Only device user is responsible for accidents, risks to his/ her life and limb,
and to life and limb of other people, damages to his/her property or property
of third parties arising from motor pump operation.
- Third parties, children or animals shall be never situated in close proximity
to the working area of motor pump.
- The motor pump Könner & Söhnen meets all requirements of European
safety standards. Any changes cannot be made to device construction without
permission.
- The engine and outlet pipe shall be always clean. If oil or fuel leaks, clean up
all dirty surfaces immediately.

PREPARING TO WORK
COMMISSIONING
For commissioning:
1. Fill the crankcase with oil (0.6 l)
2. Pour petrol in the tank
3. Remove the air lter cover and ll in the separator air lter with motor oil
(50-100 ml).
4. Before start, the pump must be completely lled with water.
BEFORE OPERATION
- Remove foreign objects from area of motor pump use.
- Tighten all screws, nuts and bolts on the device thoroughly. The motor pump
construction shall be integral and safe.
DURING OPERATION
Keep gasoline motor pump Könner & Söhnen during operation not less than
1 meter apart from buildings and equipment. Ensure that the space near exhaust
system is free, because it is heated strongly during operation and can re some
materials. Do not use motor pump indoor.
IMPORTANT!
!!
Do not keep motor pump with flammable materials. If the motor
pump is used in the specially equipped closed room, pay close
attention to ventilation. Even partial ventilation can be not enough,
because during motor pump operation the air can contain the amount
of exhaust gas which is dangerous to breathing. It is necessary to
provide proper ventilation in order to avoid exhaust gas condensation.
Keep away from hot silencer during device operation and for a while
after engine stopping. Please wait complete engine cooling after
motor pump operation and then make the device ready for keeping.
ATTENTION - DANGER!

Fuel pollutes land and groundwater. Do not allow the gasoline leaking from
the fuel tank.
GASOLINE IS A TOXIC AND FLAMMABLE LIQUID!
- Keep gasoline only in special tanks.
- Spark sources, open re as well as other ignition hazard shall be not situated
in close proximity to the place where gasoline is kept.
- Do not move and transport the device with open fuel tank valve (if any).
The fuel tank shall be empty.
- To empty gasoline tank completely, please start the engine outdoor till fuel
exhaustion.

- Please tank the device only outdoor, far away from ignition or inammation
sources. No smoking during motor pump lling.
- Do not ll fuel tank completely. Please ll tank with fuel 4 cm below the fuel
tube edge so that there is the place for fuel extension.
- Do not open gasoline tank cover and add gasoline during engine operation
or without waiting of its cooling after operation. Please ll tank with fuel before
engine starting.
- If the gasoline overows, clean up a surface covered with gasoline thoroughly
before starting the engine. Do not turn on the heat until gasoline vapor evaporate
completely (cleaned surface shall be dry).
- The fuel tank cover shall be tightly closed.
- Before each use please check fuel tube, gasoline tank and attachment gasoline
tank plug. If any damages or leakages, replace appropriate units.
- If any damages, replace broken protective plates and silencers.
- Do not leave the device indoor with the lled gasoline tank. It can cause
ignition of gasoline vapor with accidential spark or open re.
- Before bringing the device in the closed space for keeping, ensure that the engine
cooled after operation completely.
- During engine operation the motor pump evolves exhaust gases which
are poisonous for human organism. Do not use device in closed or poorventilated areas - it is dangerous for user life and health!

Oil pollutes land and groundwater. Do not allow the oil leaking from the
crankcase. Drain used oil to a tightly closing container. Return used oil into
recycling of wasted oil.

WATERFLOOD HOSE
When operating the motor pump, please always use special nondeformable
reinforced thick-wall waterood hose. The suction tube shall be corrugated,
because it works in compression. Fix the hose on the port with special xation ring.

Engine oil is the main factor which has an inuence on the engine shelf life and
its operational eciency.

The engine oil selection depends on climatic zone. For general use in many climatic
zones it is usually recommended to use oil SAE 10W-30. Other various oils diering
in viscosity level are shown in the diagram. They can be used if the average
temperature in your zone is within the appropriate range.
To check oil level, please follow this sequence:
- Ensure that the engine is inoperative and cold.
- Open the oil ller cover and wipe dry gage rod.
- Insert gage rod in the ller without its rotating. Check the level.
- If the oil level is low, ll the lubricant neck to the edge.
FILLING AND FUEL UTILIZATION
To check fuel level, please open fuel tank cover. If the fuel level is low, please ll
the tank. Do not ll fuel tank to the top of ller! Leave some space for gasoline
extension.

ATTENTION - DANGER!
- Gasoline is a ammable and explosive!
- Fill the motor pump only when stopping the engine and in the well-ventilated
room.
- Do not operate motor pump near open re. No smoking during its operation.
- The fuel level shall be lower than fuel tank ller. Do not let overow fuel tank.
Ensure that the tank cover is tightly closed after relling. Be careful of fuel
spillage during relling because spilled gasoline or its vapor catch re easily.
- Do not breathe in gasoline vapor. Do not contact for a long time with gasoline.
- Please use nonleaded gasoline with octane number 92.
- Do not use contaminated or stale gasoline or oil-gasoline mixture.
- Please control that no dust or water get to the fuel tank.
AIR FILTER
Remember that contaminated air lter limits air ow to the carburetor which can
cause failure in its operation. Please clean air lter regularly to avoid unstable
operation of carburetor. Please do it as often as possible if the motor pump is
operated under special contaminated conditions.

Before operation the pump shall be lled with water completely.

To avoid motor pump overheating, do not start it without its pre-
lling with water. If motor pump ran dry, stop it immediately and let

ENGINE STARTING
- Turn the fuel valve (А) to ON.
- To start cold engine, move the air throttle lever (В) to CLOSE. When the engine
heat up, please turn on the throttle to OPEN.
- Switch the ignition switch (С) to ON.

Attention! To avoid starter damage, turn its handle continuosly into
position without leaving it.
- Set the appropriate turn-over speed of engine by moving throttle valve (D) to
the FAST-direction.
After starting engine please ensure that motor pump supplies water. If it doesn’t
occur, please turn o the engine.
The water lag is permitted if it doesn’t exceed 2,5 minutes. Please turn o the
engine if water supply didn’t start after expected waiting time.

ENGINE STOPPING.
To stop engine safely and properly, please follow this sequence:
- Move the throttle valve (D) to SLOW.
- Switch the ignition switch (С) to OFF.
- Turn the fuel valve (А) to OFF.
ATTENTION - DANGER!

For emergency stop of engine switch the ignition switch (С) to OFF. In all
other cases please follow above mentioned sequence.
MAINTENANCE OPERATION
ROUTINE MAINTENANCE SERVICE
To maintain gasoline motor pump Könner & Söhnen in proper operating
condition, carry out routine maintenance service of the device.
Recommendations of motor pump maintenance and inspection in appointed time
intervals are listed in the table below.

1. Open the oil crankcase plug and ller cover and drain oil.
2. Turn back the oil crankcase plug and tighten safely.
3. Fill with recommended oil grade and check the level.

Wash your hands thoroughly with soup and water after each engine
oil replacement. The used engine oil is dangerous to your health and in
case of long contact it can cause skin cancer. The used engine oil can also
harm the environment if it is not subject to utilization in special stations
designated for it. Do not reject and drain oil, instead of this please
transfer it in closed containers to such special stations.
MAINTENANCE OF AIR FILTER
Clean air lter regularly. The contaminated air
lter limits air ow to the carburetor which can
cause failure in its operation. Please clean air
lter extra thorougly and often under specic
operating conditions where there be much mud
and dust.

Be careful! The lter element can be cleaned only with soapy water or
non-ammable solvent. The use of gasoline or another inammable
substance can cause ignition or explosion!

Never operate engine without air lter. Air lter allows to avoid highspeed wear
of motor pump engine.
1. Unscrew the nut of air lter cover. Open the cover and take out lter element.
2. Wash element in poor soapy solution and wash with warm water. Please dry
lter element completely.
3. Wet the element in pure machine oil and isolate remaining oil by pressing.
If too much oil is left on the element, the smoke will come out of the engine
when starting it for the rst time.
4. Install the element and air lter cover at the engine.

MAINTENANCE OF SPARK PLUGS
The spark plug shall be free from snu and must always have proper contact gap.
It will enable reliable engine operation. Be careful of hot engine parts, do not
touch them in order not to get burned!
1. Take out the spark plug cover.
2. Clear out the surface round the spark plug.
3. Unscrew the spark plug. Use a wrench from supplied instrument kit.
4. Check the spark plug for damages. If the insulator is damaged or cracked,
please replace spark plug. If no damages, clean spark plug with wire brush
before reuse.
5. Measure the contact gap value using sample. The gap shall be equal 0,70-0,80
mm. Set the gap, if necessary, by curving electrode carefully.
6. The compression washer of spark plug shall be in good condition. If yes, the
spark plug can be screwed in by hand to avoid thread damages. Tighten with
wrench to press the compression washer. When installing new spark plug, please
tighten it 1/4 turn. Tighten the reused spark plug 1/2-1/4 turn.

IMPORTANT!
!!
Please attend! The spark plug shall be tightened safely. The
undertightened spark plug can overheat and become so hot that it
can damage the engine. Please pay attention to temperature limits of
spark plugs. Do not use spark plugs which temperature limits are not
right for your device.

TRANSPORTATION
Before moving or transporting the motor pump ensure that ignition switch
ON/OFF and fuel valve are set at OFF. Set motor pump level in order not to spill
the fuel. Gasoline vapor or spilled gasoline are inammable and explosive!
For easy motor pump transportation use packaging, which pump was sold in.
Secure the box with the pump to avoid tipping ir on the side of the carriage. Before
moving the pump drain the fuel.
To move the motor pump from one place to another lift it by holding the frame. Be
careful - the pump are heavy. Be careful, do not expose your feet under the frame.
ATTENTION - DANGER!
!!
The contact with exhaust system details or touch
to the hot engine can cause bad burn or ignition. Before moving,
transporting or keeping the motor pump let its engine cool.
KEEPING
Storage room has to be dry and free from dust deposits. Storage room also has
to be locked away from children and animals. It is recommended to store and use
the motor pump at temperature of -20 to +40oС. Avoid direct sunlight, rain on the
pump.
1. Wash pump before stopping. Drain the remaining water.
2. Close the fuel valve (В). Let the engine to elaborate gasoline from carburetor.
Wait until engine stops itself. Or release the screw (C), drain gasoline to the
appropriate container.

IMPORTANT!
1. The gasoline is under certain conditions extremely inammable and explosive.
All operations shall be carried out after turning o the engine and in the wellventilated room.
2. Do not smoke and use open re in the service activity room.
3. Replace engine oil.
4. Unscrew the spark plug and ll the cylinder with 1 tablespoon of engine
oil. Turn over the starter slowly for equal oil distribution in the cylinder. Screw
the spark plug into position.
5. Pull the starter handle slowly and continuously till you feel resistance. At this
point the piston will get to the upper extremity of compression stroke, whereby
in- and outlet valves will close. Keep the engine in this position to protect it from
internal corrosion.
Warning! Motor pump is to remain ready for operation at all times.
The refore in case of device malfunctions, they are to be repaired
before dismounting the pump for storage.
Before long-term storage of the motor pump during the engine work
close the fuel valve and let the engine to elaborate gasoline from

carburetor. Wait until engine stops itself.
BEFORE LONG-TERM PUMP IDLE TIME – PERFORM THE FOLLOWING ACTIONS:
- Motor pump and engine external parts (especially the cooling radiators) are to be
thoroughly cleaned.
- Carburetor oat chamber screw has to be removed and the chamber – drained.
- Remove the spark plug.
- Oil drain screw is to be removed and the oil – drained.
- Pour one teaspoon of motor oil to the cylinder (5-10 ml). After that – pull the starter
cord for a few times, to let the oil equally distribute on the cylinder walls.
- Install the spark plug.
- Pull the starter handle until you feel the resistance. to let the piston relocate to the
upper pressure tact point.
- Smoothly release the starter handle.

WARRANTY SERVICE CONDITIONS
WARRANTY CONDITIONS.
The warranty period of gasoline motor pumps Könner & Söhnen
is declared in warranty card and starts from date of product
sale. Failures caused by manufacturer are eliminated gratis
during the warranty period. The warranty is valid only
if the warranty card and tear-o coupons are duly lled and you have a cheque.
The product is admitted to repair in pure form and as a complete package.
THE WARRANTY DOESN’T APPLY:
- To cracks and other mechanical damages as well as damages caused
by corrosive media, ingress of foreign objects into product and air gates, and
damages arising from improper keeping, in particular to corrosion of product
metal parts etc.;
- to damages caused by instable electrical network as well as by improper
operation of product, its overload, unintended use. Indisputable signs of product
overload are detail ashing or discolouration because of high temperature,
cylinder or piston surface deformation, failure of piston rings or connecting-rod
bushes. The warranty liabilities don’t apply also to failure of automatic voltage
regulator of electric generators caused by improper operation;
- to damages caused by contamination of fuel or cooling system;
- to fast wearing parts (augers, knifes, equipment, removable accessories, oil,
lter and safety elements, removable accumulators, collets, clamping chucks,
hand starters, ropes, roll guiding sheaves, nozzles, spark plugs, clutch springs,
rubber compressors, belts etc.);
- to thermal and mechanical damaged electric cables;
- to the product which was opened or repaired not in the authorized service
center. Indisputable signs of product opening out of the authorized service
center are, in particular, breaks of spline parts of clamping elements;
- to maintenance, precautions, such as cleaning, backwashing or oiling;
- to product installation and adjustment;
- in case of normal wear;

- if the warranty card has no seal (stamp) of seller or if the warranty card is not
lled;
- if the warranty card is not signed by product owner;
- if operation, transportation or keeping rules are violated, the product
is installed improperly or negligently, or in case of irregular connection to the
electrical network, all warranty liabilities will be cancelled.
