INTRODUCTION

The Power Save T imer may be installed in vehicles with a Block Heater. These
heaters normally consume approximately 1200 watts. In many installations this
amount of power is not required continuously in order to maintain the engine
temperature. It thus may be desirable to periodically turn the heater “OFF” to
conserve power. The Model 091-191-115 Power Save Timer performs that
function. The heater is powered for 1 hour and then turned “OFF” for 1 hour.
The process repeats for as long as power is applied to the heater circuit. The
1200 watt heater thus consumes an average of only 600 watts, considerably
saving in the operating cost of the Block Heater.

An optional bypass switch may be installed to bypass the timer for those
instances in which full power is required.

INSTALLATION

1. Mount the unit using the four holes provided (see Figure 2)

2. Wire the unit in accordance with the wiring diagram Figure 1.

3. Note that a fuse must be installed in the 115 volt power line to provide
protection for heater shorts.

4. An optional switch shown may be installed to bypass the POWER SA VE
TIMER to permit operation of the load at full power if this is required. Note
that this switch must have a voltage and current rating to carry the load
current.

5. Check all wiring before applying power.

6. Test operation by applying 115 volts AC and noting that the heater is
energized for one hour and then cycles 1 hour OFF and 1 hour ON.
