DVD Standard DVD Player
Great home theater starts with a great
source component. And in a marketplace
inundated by unremarkable DVD players,
the Krell DVD Standard has emerged as
an industry reference—a true high-end
home theater source component.
Video output is optimized for the latest solidstate video display technologies, including plasma, LCD, DLP, and DILA. The progressive-scan output employs triple 10-bit DACs and provides both RGB and component interfaces.
Both Toslink and coaxial digital audio outputs are provided. A component output, featuring 2X oversampling and a 10-bit DAC, is provided for interlaced-scan video output, as are standard composite and S-video outputs.
An advanced transport ensures compatibility with
a wide range of media, including single- and dual-
layer DVD, video CD, and audio CD/CD-R.
24-bit/192kHz ultra-high-resolution digital-to-ana-
log converters (DACs) assure superb audio perfor-
mance. The converters feature a differential cur-
rent output configuration to provide an ideal interface with the renowned Krell Current Mode,™ discrete Class A, direct-coupled, fully complemen-
tary analog output circuitry.
The Krell DVD Standard is
uncompromisingly engineered
to deliver the highest-quality
video and audio source signal
possible… for today’s high-end
home theater systems and
those of the future. The play-
er’s firmware can be simply upgraded via the disc drive,
making the DVD Standard
immune to obsolescence.
The crucial final stage that delivers the video signal to the display device comprises professional-grade circuitry. It is classic Krell output stage technology applied to the video domain—robust, uncompromised circuitry delivering the most vivid and detailed picture available from the DVD platform.
The Home Theater Standard 7.1 is THX Ultra
certified and is fully compatible with the lat-
est surround processing modes, including
THX Surround EX, Dolby Digital EX,
DTS ES 6.1, DTS NEO:6, and Dolby Pro
Logic II. Additionally, Krell Music Surround
modes provide enhanced reproduction of
conventional stereo music sources.
The digital surround engine features state-of-
the-art signal processors, operating at high
speed and upsampled 24-bit precision, aug-
mented by 8MB of added memory. The
resulting boost in processing efficiency
improves bit stream recognition and channel
steering. Digital crossover circuitry,
offering a wide range of crossover fre-
quencies, operates in 48-bit double-
precision mode for unparalleled
ability to optimize speaker/subwoofer
system performance.Finally, all chan-
nels are processed by 24-bit/192 kHz
DACs, yielding the most accurate
analog signal possible.
HTS 7.1
Home Theater Standard 7.1 Surround Preamp/Processor
The Krell Home Theater Standard 7.1 is a full
system control center offering exceptional audio and video performance, flexibility, and ease of use. It is the centerpiece in Krell’s HEAT™—High End Audio Theater—system concept, which applies the fundamental principles of Krell audio engineering to the creation of a fully integrated high-performance multichannel audio/video system. Krell HEAT makes it possible to enjoy movies at home with audio quality unmatched by even the finest commercial theater venues.
The analog circuitry—the most critical stage in a surround preamp/processor—features the advanced signal path developed for Krell’s flagship stereo preamplifier, the Krell Current Tunnel. All eight channels employ fully balanced Krell Current Mode™ topology in a zero-feedback configuration, delivering a staggering 1MHz bandwidth. This circuitry assures the most transparent reproduction of
today’s most demanding
movie soundtracks and
high-resolution audio formats. In Preamp mode, the HTS 7.1 operates as a pure analog preamplifier, bypassing all digital ciruitry to ensure the cleanest, most direct signal path.
Broadcast-quality all-discrete
video circuitry, providing
bandwidth greater than
80MHz, delivers the most
vivid color and detailed pic-
ture with all input signals—
including composite, S-video,
interlaced component, and
progressive and wideband
High Definition.
With its powerful configuration versatility and unparalleled sys-
tem interface and flexibility, the
HTS 7.1 is easy to use. Built-in
step-by-step guides simplify
optimal setup.
Krell’s unique software-based seven-channel digital room equalizer maximizes system performance in any room. For each of four memory settings, the user can program filter type (high-pass, low-pass, notch, peaking, and high/low shelf), frequency,s shape, and level for all seven channels. This makes it possible to program, for example, independent settings for stereo music, multichannel music, movie surround, or even video game software. Krell’s digital room equalizer can transform your family entertainment room into a breathtaking home theater...without hiring an architect.
Controls include bidirectional RS-232 communications, 12V triggers, and direct RC-5 input. The HTS 7.1 is also Crestron I
2
P certified for use with touchpanel-based systems. The operating system resides in FLASH memory, enabling software upgrades via the RS-232 port.
