Overview
3 Overview
The Kramer 123Vxl Differential Video Line Amplifier is a highperformance line amplifier for composite or SDI video signals. It splits an input source to 3 identical outputs and includes controls and circuitry to compensate for signal losses and noise inherent in long cable runs.
In particular, the 123Vxl features: Special differential amplifying circuitry that eliminates common
mode noise and hum problems commonly found in long video lines, almost completely isolating the input from the outputs
High bandwidth of 425MHz (-3dB) Gain and equalization trimmer controls to compensate for signal
losses inherent in long cable runs
A Kramer TOOLS enclosure and 12V DC supply voltage
To achieve the best performance: Use only good quality connection cables1 to avoid interference,
deterioration in signal quality due to poor matching, and elevated noise levels (often associated with low quality cables).
Avoid interference from neighboring electrical appliances that
may adversely influence signal quality and position your Kramer
123Vxl away from moisture, excessive sunlight and dust
Caution – No operator-serviceable parts inside unit.
Warning – Use only the Kramer Electronics input power
wall adapter that is provided with this unit2.
Warning – Disconnect power and unplug unit from wall
before installing or removing device or servicing unit.

5 Connecting the 123Vxl Differential Video Line Amplifier
To connect the 123Vxl, as the example in Figure 2 illustrates, do the following:
1. Connect the video source (for example, a video player) to the CV IN BNC connector.
2. Connect the CV OUT BNC connectors1—OUT 1, OUT 2 and OUT 3—to the appropriate video acceptors (for example, video display 1, video display 2, and video display 3).
3. If necessary, connect the LOOP BNC connector to the CV IN BNC connector on an additional 123Vxl unit and release the TERM switch to Hi-Z.
4. If required, adjust2 the output signal level and/or cable compensation equalization level.
5. Connect a 12V DC power adapter to the power socket and connect the adapter to the mains electricity (not shown in Figure 2).
Figure 2: Connecting the 123Vxl Differential Video Line Amplifier
1 Not all outputs need to be connected. Only connect those required, and leave the others unconnected
2 Use a screwdriver to carefully rotate the trimmer, adjusting the appropriate level

Connecting Differential Video Line Amplifier Units
6 Connecting Differential Video Line Amplifier Units
You can connect up to five 123Vxl Differential Video Line Amplifier units, to provide up to 15 outputs, as Figure 3 illustrates.
To connect up to five 123Vxl Differential Video Line Amplifier units:
1. Connect the video source to the CV IN BNC connector on the first unit.
2. Connect the LOOP BNC connector on each unit to the CV IN BNC connector on the next unit in the line, respectively1.
3. Connect the OUT 1, OUT 2 and OUT 3 BNC connectors on each unit to the appropriate video acceptors2, as required.
4. Release the TERM switch (selecting Hi-Z) on all units, except on the last (fifth) unit. Push in the TERM switch on the last (fifth) unit (selecting 75).
5. If required, adjust3 the output signal level and/or cable compensation equalization level on each unit.
Figure 3: Connecting 123Vxl Differential Video Line Amplifier Units
1 Connect the LOOP BNC connector on the first unit to the CV IN BNC connector on the second unit. Connect the LOOP
BNC connector on the second unit to the CV IN BNC connector on the third unit. Connect the LOOP BNC connector on the
third unit to the CV IN BNC connector on the fourth unit. Connect the LOOP BNC connector on the fourth unit to the CV IN
BNC connector on the fifth unit. Leave the LOOP BNC connector on the fifth (last) unit unconnected
2 Connect the OUT 1, OUT 2 and OUT 3 BNC connectors on the first unit to the video acceptors 1, 2 and 3, respectively.
Connect the OUT 1, OUT 2 and OUT 3 BNC connectors on the second unit to the video acceptors 4, 5 and 6, respectively.
Connect the OUT 1, OUT 2 and OUT 3 BNC connectors on the third unit to the video a cceptors 7, 8 and 9, respectively.
Connect the OUT 1, OUT 2 and OUT 3 BNC connectors on the fourth unit to the video acceptors 10, 11 and 12, respecti vely.
Connect the OUT 1, OUT 2 and OUT 3 BNC connectors on the fifth unit to the video acceptors 13, 14 and 15, respectively
3 Use a screwdriver to carefully rotate the trimmer, adjusting the appropriate level
