2.1 Achieving the Best Performance

To achieve the best performance:
Use only good quality connection cables (we recommend Kramer high-
performance, high-resolution cables) to avoid interference, deterioration in signal quality due to poor matching, and elevated noise levels (often associated with low quality cables)
Do not secure the cables in tight bundles or roll the slack into tight coils Avoid interference from neighbouring electrical appliances that may adversely
influence signal quality
Position your VS-211H2 away from moisture, excessive sunlight and dust

2.3 Recycling Kramer Products

The Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Directive 2002/96/EC aims to reduce the amount of WEEE sent for disposal to landfill or incineration by requiring it to be collected and recycled. To comply with the WEEE Directive, Kramer Electronics has made arrangements with the European Advanced Recycling Network (EARN) and will cover any costs of treatment, recycling and recovery of waste Kramer Electronics branded equipment on arrival at the EARN facility. For details of Kramer’s recycling arrangements in your particular country go to our recycling pages at http://www.kramerelectronics.com/support/recycling/.

3.1 Defining the VS-211H2 Automatic HDMI Standby Switcher

This section defines the VS-211H2.

VS-211H2 - Connecting the VS-211H2
Always switch off the power to each device before connecting it to your VS-211H2. After connecting your VS-211H2, connect its power and then switch on the power to each device.

4 Connecting the VS-211H2

To connect the VS-211H2, as illustrated in the example in Figure 2, do the following:
1. Connect the INPUT 1 connector to HDMI source 1 (for example, a Blu-ray player).
2. Connect the INPUT 2 connector to HDMI source 2 (for example, a laptop computer graphics source 4K@60 UHD).
3. Connect the OUTPUT connector to an HDMI acceptor (for example, a 4K@60 UHD projector).
4. If manual switching is needed, connect contact closure (pushbutton) switches to the REMOTE terminal block see Section 4.1.

Do not connect both the REMOTE IN1 and the REMOTE IN2 to PIN G simultaneously

4.1 Connecting the REMOTE Terminal Block Connector

Regardless of the default input switch setting, you can force the switching of the active input by remote control. To do this, connect the appropriate REMOTE input terminal block connector pins to a momentary contact closure switches (pushbuttons) (see Figure 3).
To force input source 1: momentarily connect REMOTE IN1 to PIN G
(ground)
To force I input source 2: momentarily connect REMOTE IN2 to PIN G
(ground)
Figure 3: REMOTE Terminal Block Connector
Note: The contact closure setting remains in effect until the selected source device is disconnected or the VS-211H2 is powered off. All automatic switching is overridden.

4.2 Setting the VS-211H2 DIP-Switches and Operation

When active input sources are connected to IN 1 and IN 2, the VS-211H2 switches in accordance with the DIP-switch settings on the rear of the unit.

Figure 4: DIP Switches
The settings and switching behavior can be set in any of the following ways:

4.2.1 Priority Setting: DIP 1 is Set to ON (Down)

In this switching mode, if a source is present on the “priority input”, then this
source is switched to the output.
DIP 2 defines the priority input:
When set to OFF (up), INPUT 1 is the priority input
When set to ON (down), INPUT 2 is the priority input.
Note: Reactivating or reconnecting the non-priority input has no effect on switching.

4.2.2 Last Connected Setting: DIP 1 is Set to OFF (Up)

In this switching mode, whenever a source is connected to an input which, until then, did not have a valid source connected to it, that input is switched to the
output. (The reactivating or reconnecting of any source makes it the new “Last
Connected” source).

DIP 2 has no effect in this switching mode

4.2.3 Manual Override: Using the REMOTE switches

Controlling via the remote contact closure pushbuttons (see Figure 3) overrides all DIP-switch settings and automatic switching until the manually selected source disconnects, becomes inactive or the VS-211H2 is powered off.
