1 Introduction
Welcome to Kramer Electronics! Since 1981, Kramer Electronics has been
providing a world of unique, creative, and affordable solutions to the vast

Thank you for purchasing the Kramer TOOLS® 841 Pattern Generator. It is
ideal for testing and adjusting flat panel LCD displays, projectors, plasma
screens and cables, as well as for testing the refresh rates of LCD displays
by using the motion patterns.

3 Overview
The 841 is a high-quality pattern generator with 31 preset patterns that
supports the following output resolutions:
SVGA (800x600) XGA (1024x768)
SXGA (1280x1024) UXGA (1600x1200)
WXGA (1280x800) WSXGA (1680x1050)
WUXGA (1920x1200) WXGA+ (1440x900)
SXGA+ (1400x1050) 1920x1080
1280x720 1152x864
1280x960 1920x1200 reduced blanking
All the resolutions are 60Hz progressive.
The 841 features:
A 15-pin HD output connector
Seven control buttons for selecting the resolution and the pattern
A 7-segment display that indicates the pattern number
An on board EEPROM that saves the last setting used
Rechargeable battery for field operation
To achieve the best performance:
Use only good quality connection cables1 to avoid interference,
deterioration in signal quality due to poor matching, and elevated
noise levels (often associated with low quality cables).
Avoid interference from neighboring electrical appliances that
may adversely influence signal quality and position your Kramer
841 away from moisture, excessive sunlight and dust
Caution – No operator-serviceable parts inside unit.
Note – Remove the plastic protective ring from the
POWER ON/OFF pushbutton switch before use.
Warning – Use only the Kramer Electronics input power
wall adapter that is provided with this unit2.
Warning – Disconnect power and unplug unit from wall
before installing or removing device or servicing unit.
