3 Overview
The 840H is a high performance HDMI Video test pattern generator. It displays 32 preset patterns at 11 popular computer and HD video resolutions including severa l unique patterns incorporating motion. The HDMI output signal includes: SVGA (800x600), XGA (1024x768), SXGA (1280x1024), 1400x1050, 852x480, 1280x720, 1366x768, 1440x900, 720x480, 1920x1080, and 1920x540. All resolutions are at 60Hz.
Note that audio is NOT embedded in the HDMI signal. In particular, the DigiTOOLS® 840H features:
An HDMI o utput
Seven control buttons: SVGA, XGA, SXGA, 1400x1050, Wide
(On), PATTERN – and PATTERN +
A 7-segment display that indicates the pattern number
An on boa rd EERROM that sa ves the last setting used
To achieve the best performance:
Connect only good quality connection cables, thus avoiding
interference, deterioration in signal quality due to poor matching, and elevated noise levels (often associated with low quality cables)
Avoid interference from neighboring electrical appliances that
may adversely influence signal quality and position your Kramer
840H away from moisture, excessive sunlight and dust
Caution – No operator-serviceable parts inside unit. Warning – Use only the Kramer Electronics input power

5.1 Connectin g Your 840H HDMI Pattern Generator
To connect the 840H HDMI Pattern Generator, do the following

1. Connect the OUTPUT connector to an HDMI acceptor, for example, a flat panel L CD disp lay (as
:
Figure 2 illustrat es), o r a projec tor o r plasm a screen .
2. Connect the 12V DC power adapter (wall transformer) to the 12V DC socket and connect the transformer to the mains elect ricit y.

1 Switch OFF the power on the HDM I acceptor before connecting it to your 840H. After connecting your 840H, switch on its power and then switch on the power on the HDMI acceptor

5.2 Operati n g Your 840H HDMI Pattern Generator
Several patterns (see
Table 3) are programmed into the 840H HDMI Pattern
Generator, in order to assess various as pect s in the f lat pa nel LCD displ ay, projector, Plasma screen or cable. For example, the 840H tests a:
Flat panel LCD displa y

Projector, verifying that the colors are as required, tuning the size
and focus of the picture
by testing if all the pixels ill uminate with the correct amounts of light, linearity, and high frequency response
HDMI cable, checking the quality

Plasma screen, to check the black level of the plasma monitor (use
PATTERN 00 to generate the black screen)
of the colors, both separately
and together
To oper ate the 840H HDMI Pattern Generator, do the following:
1. Press the appropriate PATTERN button (PATTERN + to display the next pattern or PATTERN – to display the previous pattern) to generate the required pattern. The PATTERN N UM BER 7-segment Display shows th e selected pattern number.
2. Observe the output on your flat panel LCD display, projector or plasma screen.

1. To obtain service on you product, you must take or ship it prepaid to any authorized Kramer service center.
2. Whenever warranty service is required, the original dated invoice (or a copy) must be presented as proof of warranty
coverage, and should be included in any shipment of the product. Please also include in any mailing a contact name, company, address, and a description of the problem(s).
3. For the name of the nearest Kramer authorized service center, consult your authorized dealer.
All implied warranties, including warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose, are limited in duration to the length of this warranty.

Servicing the machines can only be done by an authorized Kramer technician. Any user who makes changes or modifications to the unit without the expressed approval of the manufacturer will void user authority to operate the equipment.
