Overview
3 Overview
The 104LN is a high-performance distribution amplifier and line driver for composite and SDI video signals.
The 104LN 1:4 Differential Video Line Amplifier features:
One composite video input and 4 identical buffered outputs Recessed gain and EQ. (equalization) trimmer controls that
compensate for signal losses inherent in long cable runs
A differential input that eliminates common mode noise picked up by
the input cable, and supports long cables (letting you locate it anywhere in the distribution chain)
A bandwidth exceeding 400MHz, ensuring transparency in the most
critical applications
Full DC coupling, ensuring signal linearity and flatness
To achieve the best performance: Connect only good quality connection cables, thus avoiding
interference, deterioration in signal quality due to poor matching, and elevated noise- levels (often associated with low quality cables)
Avoid interference from neighboring electrical appliances and
position your Kramer 104LN away from moisture, excessive sunlight and dust
Caution – No operator-serviceable parts inside unit.
Warning – Use only the Kramer Electronics input power
wall adapter that is provided with this unit1.
Warning – Disconnect power and unplug unit from wall
before installing or removing device or servicing unit.

By default, the INPUT GROUND switch is set to FLOAT1. If the image appears noisy, set the switch to ON2.
5 Connecting the 104LN
To connect the 104LN 1:4 Differential Video Line Amplifier, as the example in Figure 3 illustrates, connect the following3:
1. Connect a composite video source (for example, a satellite decoder and receiver) to the INPUT BNC connector.
2. Connect the four OUT BNC connectors to up to four composite video acceptors, as follows:
Connect the OUT 1 connector to video acceptor 1 (for
example, a video recorder)
Connect the OUT 2 connector to video acceptor 2 (for
example, a video display)
Connect the OUT 3 connector to video acceptor 3 (for
example, a video display)
Connect the OUT 4 connector to video acceptor 4 (for
example, a video display)
3. Adjust the output signal level and/or cable compensation equalization level, if required.
4. If the image appears noisy, set the INPUT GROUND to either ON or FLOAT to lower the noise level.
1 The input signal is isolated from the chassis
2 The input signal is grounded to the chassis
3 Switch OFF the power on each device before connecting it to your 104LN. After connecting your 104LN, switch on its
power and then switch on the power on each device
