Kontakt Beacon User Manual
General Description
Kontakt Beacon is an electronic device based on Bluetooth Low Energy® which broadcasts radio signals called advertising packets. Those signals can be received without the need to pair, with any devices which are in range and are equipped with Bluetooth 4.0. Thanks to receiving those packets, mobile devices can precisely estimate their distance and relative location without using other systems like GPS.
Maintenance
Kontakt Beacons are maintenance-free devices. They work constantly and they are ready to be used in ‘out of the box’ manner. There is no need to turn the beacon on or active in any way. They are ready to perform since programmed and assembled. In case of possible malfunctioning users are advised to contact technical support to get proper replacements (email: support@kontakt.io). Replacement policy also applies to performance faults caused by batteries running low after a long time use. The manufacturer logo is placed on the top of the device’s casing and more details about it can be found on its box.
Installation
Kontakt Beacons can be fixed on the wall using a proper nail or a screw thanks to specially created mounting bracket. Make sure that Beacon adheres to the mounting surface firmly. Alternatively, you can use double-side adhesive tape and stick it to a flat and smooth surface. Beacons should be placed similarly to the way they might be hanging if mounted using nails. It’s also important to be aware of the fact that Beacons are installed in the right direction, meaning the manufacturer logo must be on the opposite form the sticky tape and the mounting surface. If beacons are installed this way, user takes responsibility for choosing the right adhesive that is able to keep beacons in proper places. We recommend using at least 4cm2 of the sticky tape with viscosity of 10N/cm.
