Fire hazard!
Do not place the Rapid Battery Charger...
• where it would be subject to direct sunlight. It could happen that the Rapid Battery Charger overheats and becomes irreparably damaged.
• in close adjacency to sources of heat. This includes for example ovens, fan heaters and similar appliances, as well as the ventilation openings of electrical devices. The Rapid Battery Charger could be irreparably damaged.
• in damp environments or in the vicinity of water. Moisture could permeate into the Rapid Battery Charger resp. into the power adapter. There would then be the danger of receiving an electric shock and and/or causing a fire!

• Due to the charging current, only batteries with appropriate capacities may be charged:
- Ni-MH AA min. 2300mAh / AAA min. 800mAh
- Ni-Cd AA min. 800mAh / AAA min. 300mAh
Should an attempt be made to charge batteries with significantly lower capacities, the batteries could be destroyed.
• Charge exclusively rapid rechargable batteries of the types "Ni-Cd“ and "Ni-MH". NEVER recharge batteries of other types or non-rechargable batteries. These are not suitable for recharging. Batteries not suitable for rapid recharging could overheat and explode. This could irreparably damage the Rapid Battery Charger and the inserted batteries. There is also a risk of personal injury!
• Use the Rapid Battery Charger exclusively with the supplied power adapter resp. vehicle-adapter. Do not use the power adapter and the vehicle-adapter with appliances other than the Rapid Battery Charger. Should you do so, the Rapid Battery Charger, vehicle-adapter, power adapter, batteries and the other appliance could be irreparably damaged.

Important:
Never leave the Rapid Battery Charger resp. the batteries in the vehicle! Under strong sunlight, and with a correspondingly heated vehicle interior, the Rapid Battery Charger could overheat and be irreparably damaged. Additionally, the batteries could overheat and explode. There is also a danger of fire!
Note:
It is possible that the cigar-lighter only functions with a switchedon vehicle ignition. If you are unsure, consult the vehicle handbook.
Caution!
For vehicles in which the cigar lighter resp. on-board power sockets also function with a switched-off vehicle ignition: Only use the Rapid Battery Charger with the engine running. Otherwise, the vehicle batteriy could be completely discharged by the use of the Rapid Battery Charger!

• Place the selector switch into the position Ni-MH if you want to charge Ni-MH batteries.
• Place the selector switch into the position Ni-Cd if you want to charge Ni-Cd batteries.
• Insert the batteries into the charging slots .
It is possible to charge from one to four individual batteries.
Note:
Ensure that the batteries are inserted into the charging slots in accordance with their polarities.
Otherwise, the batteries will not be charged.
• The charging process now begins. The Rapid Battery Charger has a control lamp for each cell in the charging slots . The control lamps show the charging condition of the individual batteries.
The various displays have the following meanings:
• The control lamp blinks fast:
- Checking the inserted batteries.
- Full and non-rechargable batteries are recognised.
Remove the inserted batteries from the Rapid Battery Charger.

Troubleshooting
The Rapid Battery Charger displays no functions
With mains power operation:
• Check to see if the low-tension plug on the cable of the power adapter is correctly inserted into the power adapter connection .
• Check to see if the power socket into which the power adapter has been inserted is "live". To do this, connect a different, functioning electrical appliance to the socket.
With operation over the vehicle-adapter:
• Check to see if the vehicle-adapter is correctly connected to the Rapid Battery Charger and the cigar-lighter socket.
• It is possible that the cigar-lighter only functions with a switched-on vehicle ignition. If you are unsure, consult the vehicle handbook.
