Preface
Please read this manual before using and save this manual for future reference.
The model and serial numbers are located on the bottom and record these numbers.
Features
SSC-9000 is a HD video camera, consisting of a compact HD camera head (C-mount) and a CCU that enables various real-time video processing. The newly developed super-high sensitivity CMOS image sensor is equipped. Moreover, by three-dimensional noise reduction processing of simultaneous development, color picture is possible also under the low illumination of 0.005lx.
The camera head and CCU can be connected with a twisted-pair cable, up to a length of approximately 80 m. This enables flexible and inexpensive use even in locations in which installation was difficult in the past, or that required large-scale construction.
Maximum connection distance when using 3 repeaters (option): 80 m. Maximum single cable length: 20 m.
Separated camera head supports twisted-pair cable connection and is extendable with a repeater
High-performance, compact HD camera head.
CCU with useful unique functions and easy operability
Direct camera operations are conducted via operation buttons on the front panel.
JPEG still images can be saved if a USB memory is put into the front panel.
Full lineup of video output such as HDMI, HD-SDI, Composite. External sync input Fine adjustment of image quality Support for a wide range of external control

1. Safety Notice
! WARNING
!
Mount the unit on the firm place.
!
Tighten the unit and camera with screws firmly.
If the screws are loosened, the unit may fall resulting in injury.
!
Use at correct power supply and voltage.
The rated input voltage of this unit is DC12 V. Supplying a power beyond the rated value may cause damage on the unit, and it emits smoke or causes fire in the worst case. Use only specified ADVAS AC adaptor supplied with this unit.
!
This unit is able to divert lightning conduction to itself and the connecting cables at a certain level, but this is not 100 % guaranteed. For installation locations subject to lightning strikes, make sure to apply lightning induction to the connecting cables.
! CAUTION
Avoid touching the unit's sharp metal edge to prevent injury.
2. Precautions
Maintenance and operating environment
The unit is intended for indoor use only. Do not use the unit outdoor.
Avoid operating or storing the product in the following locations, as these can be a cause of
a malfunctions or failure.
Extremely hot or cold places (Operating temperature: 0 °C to +45 °C [32 °F to 113 °F])
Extremely humid places (Operating humidity: 35%RH to 90%RH, without condensation)
Close to sources of strong magnetic fields, such as transmitters or motors
Close to sources of powerful radio waves, such as transceivers or cellular phones.
Locations near the high-voltage wires or railroad.
Extremely dusty or sandy locations
Locations subject to strong vibration or shock, such as inside vehicles or ships
Locations exposed to rain or condensation, such as window side.
Locations subject to steam or oil, such as kitchens.
Special environment, such as in combustible atmosphere
Locations emit radiation, X-rays, salt attack or corrosive gases
Locations where medicine water is used, such as swimming pools and hot springs.
To prevent heat buildup, do not block air circulation around the unit. The unit discharges heat from the surface
(side) of the main unit. Do not install it close to walls.

Disclaimer
We will not be responsible for any inconveniences or disturbances caused in the event of
privacy invasion as a result of camera footages of this product.
Before starting an important recording, make sure to take a test recording in order to
confirm a normal recording possible.
We do not accept liability for the damage of recording or storing image and/or the missing
opportunity of recording in the case caused by a problem of the unit.
Transportation
Always turn off the power when transporting.
Handle the unit with care and avoid heavy shock or vibration.
Care of the unit
Remove dust or dirt on the surface of the lens with a blower (commercially available). Do
not use a spray type blower to clean the lens. Liquid will seep into a lens and eventually cause internal fog.
Phenomena specific to CMOS image sensors
The following phenomena that may appear in images are specific to CMOS (complementary metal-oxide semiconductor) image sensors. They do not indicate malfunctions.
White flecks
Although the CMOS image sensors are produced with high-precision technologies, fine white flecks may be generated on the screen in rare cases, caused by cosmic rays, etc. This is related to the principle of CMOS image sensors and is not a malfunction. The white flecks especially tend to be seen in the following cases:
- When operating at a high environmental temperature
- When you have raised the master gain (sensitivity)
Aliasing
When fine patterns, stripes, or lines are shot, they may appear jagged or flicker.

Connection with PCLAN
Camera control and still image acquisition can be conducted by a remote PC with LAN, serial
or relay. Please ask us when you need external control.
For LAN connection, connect between the CCU and PC with Cat5 (or above) Ethernet cable.
If you connect the CCU and the PC directly, use cross cable. If you use network hub between them, use straight cable. If your PC supports Auto-MDIX, you can use straight cable between CCU and PC.
The CCU’s default IP address setting is 192.168.1.100. Set
the IP address with the same network address for the PC.(for Example; 192.168.1.101
Set the IP address of the PC at the property of TCP/IP. Open
TCP/IP properties by following procedures in manuals of your PC or OS. The screen shot shows example. IP address = 192.168.1.80 Subnet address = 255:255:255:0 .
NoteThe IP address of the CCU can be changed by RS-232c external control. Changing the IP address requires a reboot of the CCU.
Connection with PCRS-232C
Connect between the CCU and PC with RS-232C cross cable.
Connection with monitor
Connect the monitor to the video output terminal on the back panel of CCU.
The system output video signals simultaneously from all the terminals. (HDMI, HD-SDI,
composite)
HDMI and HD-SDI video format can be changed at [HD Format] of an On-Screen Menu. Initial

ALC Mode settings
Automatic exposure control is performed by ALC with electric shutter and gain.
At the ALC Mode, you can give priority to electric shutter or gain for automatic exposure control. So you can set the suitable exposure mode for the targeting scene.
Full Auto
The Full Auto mode is controlled with electric shutter and gain. It is recommended to use this mode normally.
The range of each item is adjustable with Shutter Limit and Gain Limit separately , and can provide flexible exposure settings.
Below is example:
- Put restrictions on [Shutter Limit] value in order to suppress a flicker of a high-intensity
images.
- Change [Gain Limit] value for images that the S/N ratio performs important effect.
When you want to use slow shutter, change the value of [Shutter Limit (L)] into 1/30s (1/25s) or lower. Factory setting of [Shutter Limit (L)] is OFF (1/30s).
Shutter Priority
You can set any shutter speed, and exposure is automatically controlled with gain.
When the image contains the fast moving subjects, you can select high shutter speed so that the target subject can be captured clearly.
For the solution of the flicker problems under fluorescent lighting, you can change the shutter speed into 1/50s or 1/100s (50Hz locations).
