* Included with the Kodak EasyShare camera dock 6000
and printer dock 6000
We do not recommend or support alkaline batteries. For acceptable
battery life, and to make sure your camera operates dependably, use the
replacement batteries listed above.
! Battery life depends significantly on battery age, usage conditions, and type.
Digital cameras are demanding on batteries. Not all batteries perform well
under these challenging conditions.
! Limit the following activities that quickly deplete battery power:
–Reviewing your pictures on the camera screen (see page 49)
–Using Liveview (see page 20)
–Using Quickview (see page 22 and page 44).
–Excessive use of the flash
! Purchase an optional Kodak 3-volt AC adapter to power your camera (see
page 111).
! Purchase an optional Kodak EasyShare camera dock 6000 (see page 75).
The camera dock 6000 powers your camera, transfers pictures, and is also
a battery charger for its included Kodak EasyShare Ni-MH rechargeable
battery pack.
! Purchase an optional Kodak EasyShare printer dock 6000 (see page 74).
The printer dock 6000 powers your camera, makes 4 x 6 prints with or
without a computer, transfers pictures, and is also a battery charger for its
included Kodak EasyShare Ni-MH rechargeable battery pack.
! Dirt on the battery contacts can affect battery life. Wipe the contacts with a
clean, dry cloth before loading batteries in the camera.
! Battery performance is reduced at temperatures below 41° F (5° C).
Carry spare batteries when using your camera in cold weather, and keep
them warm. Do not discard cold batteries that do not work; when they
return to room temperature, they may be usable.
Battery Safety and Handling
! Do not allow batteries to touch metal objects, including coins. Otherwise, a
battery may short circuit, discharge energy, become hot, or leak.
! For rechargeable battery disposal information, visit the Rechargeable
Battery Recycling Corporation Web site at www.rbrc.com.

2Taking Pictures
The camera is ready to take pictures when you turn it on—even if you are in
Review, Share, or Setup. (In Video mode, the camera captures video.) Before
you take a picture, make sure the storage location is set the way you want it
(see page 10).
Take a Picture
1Turn the Mode dial to the mode you want to
use. See page 16 for a description of the
picture-taking modes.
The camera screen displays the mode
name and description. To interrupt the

description, press any button.
2Use the viewfinder or camera screen to
frame your subject. (Press the OK button to
turn Liveview on. See page 20.)
3Press the Shutter button half-way to set
the exposure and focus.
4When the ready light glows green, continue
pressing the Shutter button completely
down to take the picture.
When the ready light blinks green, the
picture is being saved; you can still take
pictures. If the ready light is red, wait
until it turns green.
SportSubjects that are in motion. Shutter speed is fast.
PortraitFull-frame portraits of people. Allows the subject to be
sharp and the background to be indistinct. For best
results, fill the frame with a head-and-shoulders pose.
Use the Telephoto (T) zoom button to exaggerate
background blur.
NightNight scenes or low-light conditions. For shutter
speeds slower than 1/60 second, place the camera on
a flat, steady surface or use a tripod. Due to slow
shutter speeds, advise people to stay still for a few
seconds after the flash fires.
LandscapeDistant subjects. Flash does not fire unless you turn it
on. Auto focus framing marks (see page 21) are not
available in Landscape.
Close-upClose subjects 4-24 in. (10-60 cm) from the lens in
Wide Angle; 9.8-33.5 in. (25-85 cm) in Telephoto. Use
available light instead of flash if possible. Use the
camera screen to frame the subject.

PAS mode gives you quick access to
Program, Aperture priority, and
Shutter priority modes.
See page 18 for directions on how to select
the modes and settings in PAS mode.
Program Mode
Use Program mode when you want to manually control exposure
compensation (how much light enters the camera). The camera automatically
sets the shutter speed and aperture (f-stop) based on the scene lighting.
Aperture Priority Mode
Use Aperture priority mode when you want to manually control aperture and
exposure compensation. The camera automatically sets the shutter speed for
proper exposure. Aperture priority mode is primarily used to control depth of
field (the range of sharpness).
NOTE: The aperture setting may be affected when using optical zoom.
Shutter Priority Mode
Use Shutter priority mode when you want to manually control the shutter speed
and exposure compensation. The camera automatically sets the aperture for
proper exposure. Shutter priority mode is primarily used to prevent blur when
your subject is moving. Use a tripod for shutter speeds slower than 1/60".
