Safety Notes

Do not try to open the camera by yourself, which may cause damage to the camera or electric shock.
Do not fire the flash in a close distance (less than 1 meter) to human eyes.
Keep the camera away from the reach of children or animals to prevent them from swallowing the batteries or small accessories.
Avoid using the camera if any kinds of liquid enters the camera. If it happens, switch off the camera and contact the company that you bought
this camera from for help.
Do not operate this camera with wet hands, which may cause electric shock.
Do not place or store the camera in a high temperature environment, which may cause damage to the camera.
Do not mix to use different types of batteries or new and old batteries.
Please remove the batteries to avoid electricity leakage if the camera is not in use for a long period.
Unplug the camera from the adapter (if used) to avoid damage to the camera if the camera is not to be used for a long period.
It's normal that the temperature of the camera body rises after using for a long period.

Turn On or Off the Camera
Loading the Batteries
Press down the "POWER" button to turn on the camera. Repeat the above action to turn off the camera.
Note
The below symbols on the TFT LCD Monitor are the indication of the battery status. ( ): Battery power is full. ( ):Battery power is half drained. Have new batteries ready.
( ):Battery power is drained. Replace the batteries you are using now.
Note
2 pcs of AA alkaline / Ni-MH / CRV-3 batteries are strongly recommended for normal operation.
Loading the Batteries
1. Turn off the camera.
2. Push down the black triangle button on the Battery Cover and slide out to open it.
3. Load 2 x AA batteries into the battery chamber, following the polarity indication.
4. Close the Battery cover

Note
n Batteries may lose power if kept inside the camera for a long time without using. Please remove the batteries while the camera is n not in use. n Do not use manganese batteries since they cannot supply sufficient power to support the camera's operation. n Batteries may not work normally under 0¢J. n It's normal that the temperature of the camera body goes up after being in use for a long period.

Note If a new SD card is used, it is necessary to format firstly. Please refer to page 20 for the details.
Note The image(s) can be stored either in built-in flash memory or in memory card. Only if the memory card is inserted, the images
will
be stored in the memory card rather than the built-in flash memory. On the other hand, the images will be stored in the built-in flash memory only if a memory card is not inserted.
1. Power off the camera
2. Open the Memory Card Cover.
3. Insert the SD card into the card slot and press it down until a click sound happens. (Press down the inserted SD card again to get it out when a click sound happens)
4.Close the Memory Card Cover.
Getting Started

Basic Photography
1. Remove the Lens Cover.
2. Press down the POWER button to turn on the camera.(Note that the yellow led on the back side will blink.)
3. Set the Mode Dial at Shooting Mode ( ) for still image or Movie Clip Mode ( ) for video recording.
4. Hold your camera with your hand and position a subject in the center of the frame to focus on.
5. If the subject you are going to shoot is ranged from 0.2m to 0.8 m, pressing down SET/MACRO button to change the focus range.
6. Press and hold the shutter button halfway down. Note when the color of the central frame turns from white to red and then to green, this means the camera Auto Focus is ready. And then you can continue next step for image shooting.
7. Press the shutter button fully down for capturing the image.
8. The LED Indicator starts blinking right after the Shutter Button is released.
9. Once the LED Indicator stops blinking, you are ready to take another shot.

Note
A message of "Low Light!" appearing on the TFT LCD Monitor as a warning to remind you to go to the Flash Mode and select Auto Flash or Fill-in flash to get more light sources so as to compose a superior quality image.
Note
In such cases shown as follows, please release the shutter button, then try to recompose the shot and focus again because the Auto Focus function may be difficult to use with.
n The subject is distant from the camera and dark n The contrast of the subject and its background is poor n The subject is viewed through a piece of glass or window. n A fast-moving or a flashing subject is passing through. n The subject has a reflection attribute like a mirror, a luminous body, or a lustrous subject.
Note
Move up and down the zoom button to adjust the suitable zoom position.
Note
The lens moves when the zoom feature is being used. Be very careful not to touch the lens.
Note
When the zoom exceeds 3X, enlargement is carried out using digital processing image and the image can be enlarged up to 4X using the digital zoom feature. (When the digital zoom feature is used, the image quality deteriorates unlike the enlargement with the optical zoom.)
Note
Regarding any advanced functionality settings, please refer to the next section -- Advanced Functionality Settings. Note that press the MENU Button to enter the advanced settings and please press down the MENU Button again anytime if you would like to exit the setting.

The flash fires automatically as required under shooting mode.
To avoid the subject's eyes appear red in the picture, use this mode can effectively minimize the likelihood of the red-eye effect.
The flash will fire and the exposure time is set to 1/2 second so that the subject in the foreground and background are

This mode will enable the flash to fire in any circumstances.
The mode will disable the flash to fire in any circumstance.
Note
The function of self-timer starts with the countdown from 10 seconds.

The self-timer will be automatically cancelled once the shoot is done.

Note
When the Voice Memo is on for 10, 20, 30 SEC. or even manual, you can record any voice or sound right after
capturing the image and you can also see the icon ( ) on the top of TFT LCD Monitor blinking.

With the voice Memo function, you can record a voice memo for a image that you just shot, just as a memo with sound. Then, go to the PLAYBACK Mode, you can view the
image you just shot and listen to the sound you recorded by

1 Connect the video out jack of the camera to video input ports of the TV set with the included Video Cable 2 Turn on the TV set and set the TV/Vi deo toggle switch to A/V mode. 3 Rotate to PLAYBACK Mode and power on the camera. 4 Move up and down the direction button to se lect the image and view it on T V.

If the auto run program fails under certain situation, please go
to the Start Menu, click "Run" and key in "CD-ROM Drive:\ AutoRun.exe" and then click "OK" Button.

If the computer has DirectX 8.0 or later already, the installation procedure will skip above step 4 and go to the following window directly completing the driver installation.

This camera, supporting only Mac 9.X or later versions, allows you not to install any driver. Please go to page 28 for installation of Ulead Photo Explorer or go to page 31 to download the stored images onto the PC.
Note
Having DirectX 8.0 or later already, the computer will
skip the installation procedure from step 2 above and go
to the following window directly. Please complete the driver installation with a "OK" Click.
The camera's driver is not required under Windows ME and Windows XP. So, go to page 26 for installation of Ulead Photo Explorer or go to page 30 to download the stored image(s) onto the PC. Please click "OK", if the below window prompts.

Step : Turn on the computer.
Step : Insert the CD into the CD-ROM Drive. The computer will create an icon named "Driver CD" on the desktop.

Step : Choose "Ulead Photo Explorer" and copy this file to the desktop.
Step : Click on the newly created "Ulead Photo Explorer" icon on the desktop and double clicks on "Photo Explorer" folder to start Ulead Photo Explorer.

If a warning window shows please visit Apple's official web-site http://kbase.info. apple.com to download the latest version of CarbonLib.
a. Key in "CarbonLib" in the search bar and click "Search" button.
b. Download the latest version of CarbonLib.
c. Restart the computer.
d. Go to the desktop and double click on the icon "Ulead Photo Explorer" to start Ulead Photo Explorer.

Downloading the Image(s)
Under Windows Operating System (Windows 98/98SE/2000/ME/XP)
n Downloading Image(s) From Removable Disk
1. Turn on the PC.
2. Switch on the camera.
3. Connect the camera to the PC with USB cable under any working mode. Please make sure the USB cable is well connected to the PC and camera.
4. When the USB cable is connected to the PC, it will create a new hard disk named Removable Disk .
5. The stored "image(s) can be found in" Removable Disk\Dcim\100 media .
6. View the image with double-clicks.
n Downloading Image(s) Through Ulead Photo Explorer
1. Connect the camera to the PC with USB cable under any working mode. Please make sure the USB cable is well connected to the PC and camera.
2. Start Ulead Photo Explorer 7.0 SE Platinum .
3. Click "File \Download From Memory Card" to get the stored image(s).

n Downloading Image(s) From Removable Disk
1. Turn on the PC.
2. Switch on the camera.
3. Connect the camera to the PC with USB cable under any working mode. Please make sure the USB cable is well connected to the PC and camera.
4. When the USB cable is connected to the PC, it will create a new icon named "untitled" on the desktop.
5. Double click on the icon.
6. The stored image(s) can be found in the folder of DCIM \ 100MEDIA \.
7. View the image with double-clicks.
n Downloading Image(s) Through Ulead Photo Explorer
1. Turn on the PC and switch on the camera. Connect the camera to the PC with USB cable and a new disk such as "Unlabeled" will be created automatically.
2. Start with Uleas Photo Explorer 7.0 SE Platinum . The stored image(s) can be found in the folder of DCIM \ 100MEDIA \. Please view the image(s) with double-clicks.

There is insufficient card memory capacity to store an image.
Delete the stored image(s) in the memory card or insert a new memory card.
MEMORY FULL
There is insufficient internal memory capacity to store an image.
Delete the stored image(s) in the flash memory.
CARD LOCKED (ICON BLINKING)
The SD card is under protection. Set the card protection switch at non-protection
position.
LOCK
The Image can't be deleted under protection. Unlock the protected image.
NO IMAGE
There is no image stored in the memory card or built-in flash memory.
Please take pictures or record movie clips.
FILE ERROR
File format error. Insert a new SD/MMC card or format the media.
MEMORY ERROR
Memory is damaged or failed. Format the media.
CARD ERROR
Card is damaged or failed. Insert a new SD/MMC card
LOW BATTERY ! (ICON BLINKING)
Battery power is drained. Insert new batteries.
HAND SHAKE ICON (

The environment is too dark in "Flash Off" mode. Cancel the Flash off mode.
FOCUS ERROR
Focus is out of range. Power on again
