INSTALLATION & MAINTENANCE MANUAL
CL219xxx / CS219xxx / FP219xxx
SF219xxx
GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS
These instructions should be read carefully and retained after installation by the end user for future reference and maintenance. These instructions should be used to aid installation of the following products: CL219xxx / CS219xxx / FP219xxx / SF219xxx
SAFETY
• Please isolate mains prior to installation or maintenance
• Check the total load on the circuit (including when this product is fitted) does not exceed the rating of the circuit cable, fuse or circuit breaker
• Please note the IP (Ingress Protection) rating of this product when deciding the location for installation
• Do not overload this accessory or subject it to conditions outside its rating (LED load 5 - 150W; incandescent / halogen load 10 - 200W; not suitable for fluorescent lamps)
• This product is for indoor use only
INSTALLATION
• Please check compatibility with intended load before installation. Ensure a mixed load is not selected, i.e. incandescent mixed with LED. It is recommended to use lamps/luminaires of the same brand and type on the same switch
• Ensure the wall surface is flat and smooth
• This unit is fitted with a gasket – this must not be removed: the gasket is to stop discolouration of the plate due to natural moisture in some wall finishes. This product must be fitted only after painting and decorating is complete
• Screwless products only - remove the front plate by placing a medium size flat-head screwdriver in the notch at the side and lever off gently
• Connect for one-way control (Fig. 1) or two-way control (Fig. 2), ensuring the correct polarity is observed (terminal positions may vary). Switched Live (blue) must have brown sleeving.
• Two-way switching with a dimmer can only be achieved when there is only one dimmer in the system. Twoway dimming cannot be achieved.

TWO-WAY DIMMING CONTROL

• For a multiple gang dimmer repeat the wiring method for each dimmer unit.
• All earth connections must be made and maintained. Use green/yellow sleeving on earth conductors that are not insulated
• Check all electrical connections are secure with all exposed copper within the terminal and no loose strands of cable
• Fit the unit into a suitable wall box taking care not to compress, damage or trap any cables, and secure with the screws provided. If using metal mounting boxes with four lugs, remove the top and bottom lugs or bend fully back
• Screwless products only - clip the front plate onto the main assembly ensuring the screwdriver notch is at the side
• Switch on and check for correct operation
• A small audible buzz may be emitted when using certain products. This is normal but may be improved by selecting the appropriate mode (see below)
DIMMING ADJUSTMENT
To restore factory settings:
1. Switch on the power and turn the dimmer to the minimum position (anti-clockwise)
2. Press the knob 8 times (roughly twice per second)
3. The unit will increase and decrease the brightness twice to indicate that the dimmer is in configuration mode,
it will then maintain a low illumination level or switch off
To adjust the minimum dimming level:
1. After restoring factory settings, slowly adjust the brightness to a suitable level
2. Press the knob 4 times (roughly twice per second)
3. The unit will increase and decrease the brightness once the adjustment is complete
To change between trailing-edge and leading-edge mode:
1. Switch on the power and adjust the dimmer knob to the maximum position (clockwise)
2. Press the knob OFF ON and wait for the lamp to reach full brightness; immediately repeat OFF ON another 4
times, waiting for the lamp to reach full brightness each time (total 10 presses). The load will come on, and then dip once to indicate that the dimmer is in trailing-edge mode, or twice to indicate that it is in leading edge mode
WARNING
This product must be disconnected from the circuit if subjected to any high voltage or insulation resistance testing. Irreparable damage will occur if this instruction is not followed.
