RF-7 FLOORSTANDER
Prepare to be surprised by what you
haven’t heard in your favorite music
and movies. The RF-7, created by
Klipsch to be the ultimate loudspeaker
for the home environment, uncovers
material you’ve never heard before –
with quality that’s even better than
your favorite theater.
The RF-7, with 102dB sensitivity,
plays louder with less distortion than
perhaps any loudspeaker you’ve ever
heard. It mates an 8" square Tractrix
®
Horn to a 1.75" titanium diaphragm
compression driver powered by a
remarkably large, video-shielded
magnet. Together, they deliver
accurate, non-fatiguing midrange and
high frequencies at any volume level,
with substantially less detail-robbing
distortion. Two 10" Cerametallic
woofers with 90-ounce magnets
provide powerful, deep bass free
from sonic blur. A pair of large flared
ports bolster bass response while
reducing turbulence. The biwireable,
audiophile-grade crossover improves
imaging and detail across the sound
spectrum, with frequency-specific
Monster Cable
®
Z-Series wiring used
for optimum clarity.
Dual windowpane bracing and cast
metal woofer frames control resonance
at even the most intense volume,
while broad-stance outrigger feet add
stability and allow easy leveling on
any surface. To complete the
experience, the RF-7 is finished in
furniture-grade blond maple, medium
cherry or jet ash wood veneers.
RC-7 CENTER CHANNEL
The RC-7 center channel delivers crisp
dialogue, along with the deepest bass
impact and highest sensitivity (98dB)
in its class. The RC-7 uses the same
1.75" titanium diaphragm compres-
sion driver and 8" square Tractrix
®
Horn as the RF-7, along with two 8"
Cerametallic
woofers. Through
tapered array technology, both
woofers reproduce deep bass, while
only one covers the lower midrange
frequencies for clearer dialogue and
more consistent coverage with less
tonal shift. Two flared ports ensure
deep bass and full-range response.
The RC-7 is available in blond maple,
medium cherry and jet ash finishes.
RS-7 SURROUND
The RS-7 surround speaker boasts
sensitivity of 98dB, which is virtually
unheard of in a surround loud-
speaker. It uses a single 8" woofer and
two 8" square Tractrix
®
Horns with 1"
titanium diaphragm compression
drivers. Wide Dispersion Surround
Technology
ensures a dynamic
surround experience throughout the
listening room. Deep, powerful bass
and full-range response is achieved,
in part, by the RS-7’s twin ports. The
RS-7 is available in an unobtrusive
black or white vinyl finish.
RSW-15 SUBWOOFER
The RSW-15 powered subwoofer
works with the RF-7, RC-7 and RS-7
to complete our finest Reference
Series home theater system.
Our Reference flagship delivers
performance you’ve never experienced
The unmistakable copper color of our exclusive
Cerametallic™woofer cones does more than
provide the distinctive Klipsch Reference look.
Specially treated aluminum with ceramic outer
surfaces creates cones that are light, yet rigid with
significantly better damping to prevent distortion.
The Klipsch Tractrix
®
Horn is mated to a titanium
compression driver for incredible detail and
accuracy, while the optimal 90º x 60º coverage
pattern ensures precise localization and expansive
soundstaging.
RF-7 SYSTEM
Page 4
RF-5 FLOORSTANDER
We created the 99dB RF-5 floorstanding loudspeaker to provide remarkably
sophisticated, detailed Reference Series-quality sound in a smaller cabinet.
This marvel uses dual 8" Cerametallic
woofers and an 8" square Tractrix
®
Horn tweeter powered by a 1" titanium diaphragm compression driver.
Using the same Tractrix
®
Horn as the RF-7 in a smaller cabinet gives the RF-5
“outside the box” imaging and smooth midrange tonal balance for an incredible
soundstage. A dual flared port helps deliver deep, authoritative bass without
noise and compression. Internal wiring with custom Monster Cable
®
Z-Series
and audiophile-grade crossover components ensure peak performance across
the entire sound spectrum, while a unique venting system keeps the driver’s
motor and voice coil cool for superior reliability.
HOME THEATER OPTIONS
A pair of RF-5s performs as an outstanding two-channel system for a
surprisingly low investment. Or, because they are sonically, cosmetically and
technologically matched to work with either of the Reference Series center
channels and either of the surrounds, they, along with the RSW-12 powered
subwoofer, serve as the ideal foundation for a complete home theater system.
Like the RF-7, these powerful speakers are finished in furniture-grade blond
maple, medium cherry or jet ash wood veneers.
RF-5 SYSTEM
Vivid, powerful detail for two-channel
or surround systems
The versatile RF-5s match both the RC-7 and RC-3
center channels, as well as the RS-7 and RS-3
surrounds in technology and performance.
The RSW-12 subwoofer completes the package for
an extraordinary home theater system.
Klipsch achieves our legendary quality and
performance by refusing to cut any
corners or treat any
component as insignificant.
For example, we use a custom
version of Monster Cable®Z-Series
audio cable for all of the
internal wiring in our Reference Series
loudspeakers. The choice of audiophiles
for decades, Monster Cable
®
preserves the sound
integrity from the
moment the signal enters
the cabinet until our drivers
transform it for your enjoyment.
This custom Z-Series cable uses
frequency-specific stranding — precise
configurations and wire gauges for each
driver, whether low, mid
or high frequency — with
MultiTwist™construction to
deliver unsurpassed detail and clarity
across the audio spectrum. Time Correct
cable winding ensures the finest imaging
and lowest noise floor.
Page 5
RF-3 FLOORSTANDER
That the RF-3 has become one of the
leading floorstanding loudspeakers may
have something to do with its very
affordable price, but the main reason is
unquestionably the quality of sound
this remarkable performer delivers.
With 98dB sensitivity, the RF-3 is
exceptionally dynamic, with reproduc-
tion that is pure and true to the source
material. Klipsch has paired our 1"
titanium diaphragm compression driver
with a 6" square Tractrix
®
Horn, as
well as dual 8" Cerametallic
woofers,
and engineered them to work within a
compact cabinet that harmonizes in
smaller living spaces. Add internal
wiring with custom Monster Cable
®
Z-Series, an audiophile-grade
crossover, a flared port, plus an
attractive wood-grain vinyl finish, and
you have a speaker that provides both
remarkable performance and value.
RC-3 CENTER CHANNEL
The 97dB RC-3 center channel loud-
speaker delivers articulate dialogue
and surprising dynamics through its 1"
titanium diaphragm compression driver
mated to a 6" square Tractrix
®
Horn
and two 6.5" Cerametallic
woofers.
Tapered array technology allows both
woofers to reproduce deep bass, while
only one covers the lower midrange
frequencies for clearer dialogue and
more consistent coverage. It is
available in a black vinyl finish.
RS-3 SURROUNDS
The RS-3 Wide Dispersion Surround
Technology
speaker uses a single 6.5"
woofer and two 6" square Tractrix
®
Horns with 1" titanium diaphragm
compression drivers. The RS-3, with
95dB sensitivity, is available in an
unobtrusive black or white vinyl finish.
SUBWOOFERS
Choose either the RSW-12 or RSW-10
powered subwoofer to complete an
outstanding Reference Series home
theater system.
The Reference Series brings a new
dimension of reality and convenience to
surround sound with our proprietary Wide
Dispersion Surround Technology™(WDST™).
WDST™provides Reference Series per-
formance even in listening areas with less-
than-ideal configurations.
Effective surround sound requires two key,
yet opposite attributes. The sound must be
enveloping to place you in the middle of
the action, as well as correctly localize
specific sounds so what you hear matches
what you see. Few ordinary rear surrounds
can deliver both qualities, and even then
only when they are perfectly placed.
Our Reference Series Tractrix®Horns
deliver a 90° wide by 60° high output
pattern. By aligning two horns at 90° with
respect to each other, along with a front-
firing woofer, WDST™surrounds smoothly
cover a 180° horizontal arc. The surround
points at you no matter where you are
seated, drawing you into the middle of the
action. WDST™is not only the most
effective surround technology, but also
allows the greatest number of placement
options available.
RF-3 SYSTEM
Big sound in a
compact cabinet
Wide Dispersion
Surround Technology
All Reference loudspeakers feature
cloth grilles, and the floorstanding
and center channel models are
distinguished by “floating” grilles.
These grille frames are suspended off
the baffle and minimize diffraction —
a benefit for form as well as function.
Page 6
Klipsch engineers have captured all
the thrills and intensity of floorstand-
ing speakers in two attractive book-
shelf models. The RB-5 and RB-3 are
warm, intimate speakers that com-
bine compact size with sound that’s
detailed and powerful enough to earn
the Reference Series name.
The 96dB RB-5 employs the same
driver technology as our RF-3
floorstanding speaker – a 1" titanium
diaphragm compression driver with a
6" square Tractrix
®
Horn and a single
8" Cerametallic
woofer with a large
magnet. Our RB-3, with 94dB sensi-
tivity, uses the same titanium
diaphragm compression driver with a
5" square Tractrix
®
Horn. Attention-
getting low-end performance comes
through a 6.5" Cerametallic
woofer.
Both offer the same features as our
larger Reference Series loudspeakers,
including internal wiring with custom
Monster Cable
®
Z-Series, audiophile-
grade crossover components, and
solid construction using rich wood
veneers. These bookshelf models use
cast-polymer woofer frames with high
impact tolerance that protect the
woofer’s internal parts and ensure
their critical alignment. A large flared
port increases efficiency and bass
response, allowing greater output
with less turbulence and distortion.
Our unique woofer venting system
keeps both the motor and voice coil
cool to ensure long-term reliability.
The RB-5 and the RB-3 are both
available in furniture-grade blond
maple, medium cherry or jet ash
wood veneers. Both speakers are ideal
choices for a two-channel system,
especially in conjunction with our
RSW-10 powered subwoofer.
BOOKSHELF LOUDSPEAKERS
Floorstanding performance in a bookshelf design
For an unequalled compact
home theater system, you can
match the RB-3 or RB-5
bookshelf speakers with our
RC-3 center channel, RS-3
surrounds and RSW-10
powered subwoofer.
Page 7
ARCHITECTURAL LOUDSPEAKERS
Reference Series sound with
installation flexibility
Architectural speakers have grown in
popularity, but until now that has
only been because of their inconspicu-
ous appearance, not the quality of
their sound. Klipsch has created
in-wall and in-ceiling speakers that
deliver power and detail worthy of the
Reference Series name.
These two-way in-wall and in-ceiling
speakers provide greater flexibility
and installation convenience. The
neodymium tweeter magnets are
compact yet powerful, delivering the
performance you expect from Klipsch.
The tweeter and midbass attenuator
switches allow you to adjust the levels
to compensate for less-than-optimum
placement and room acoustics. All of
our Reference Series in-wall and
in-ceiling speakers accommodate
standard infrared receivers for
remote-control operation, and feature
paintable grilles that ensure they
blend well with any décor. They’re the
ideal choice for distributed sound
applications or custom home theater
installations.
IN-CEILING LOUDSPEAKERS
Both of our Reference Series in-ceiling
speakers use a
titanium
diaphragm
tweeter with
a rotating
Tractrix
®
Horn that swivels 10° around a full
circle to direct the sound to the
listener. The RCR-5 uses a single 8"
Cerametallic
woofer to deliver the
bold sound, while the RCR-3’s 6.5"
woofer outperforms bigger, more
expensive models. Both feature audio-
phile-grade crossover components.
IN-WALL LOUDSPEAKERS
Our Reference Series in-wall models
are designed to produce a big sound
even when they’re in an inconvenient
location. The titanium diaphragm
tweeter is mated to a Tractrix
®
Horn
which pivots 15° horizontally to focus
the sound on the
listening area.
The RCW-5 has
a single 8"
Cerametallic
woofer, while the
RCW-3 has a 6.5" woofer.
Reference Series powered subwoofers
shatter your expectations for deep,
driving bass by playing louder and
going deeper than significantly larger
designs, creating the most dramatic,
intense bass you’ve ever heard or felt.
Designed from the ground up for
class-leading, room-filling low-fre-
quency performance, these extraordi-
nary subwoofers are sonically, cos-
metically and technologically matched
to the Reference Series. Low-level
inputs that also operate as an LFE
input (for compatibility with 5.1 digi-
tal sound formats) and an adjustable
low-pass crossover allow you to con-
figure the subwoofer to your room’s
acoustics while ensuring that future
improvements to your system won’t
outstrip its capabilities. The easy-to-
reach, side-mounted volume control
makes for simple setup and conven-
ient level adjustments between music
and movie sources.
RSW-15 SUBWOOFER
The RSW-15 surpasses the perform-
ance of a conventional 21" single-
driver subwoofer through intelligent
engineering. Pairing a heart-throbbing
15" rear-firing Cerametallic
active
driver with a 3-inch voice coil and
30-pound motor assembly with a 15"
front-firing passive radiator gives
you more surface area than a 21"
subwoofer in a much smaller foot-
print. Powered by a 2400-watt BASH
®
digital high-efficiency hybrid amplifi-
er, the drivers deliver earthshaking
sound without detail-robbing distor-
tion. The RSW-15 is available in
furniture-grade blond maple, medium
cherry or jet ash wood veneers.
RSW-12 SUBWOOFER
The Reference Series RSW-12
powered subwoofer delivers truly
deep, musical low bass with depth
and intensity that intimidates much
larger subwoofers. It matches a 12"
front-firing Cerametallic
passive
radiator and 12" rear-firing active
driver to a 2400-watt BASH
®
amplifier
to provide enough power and low-
distortion performance to complement
our floorstanding speakers. It is
available in wood-grain black vinyl.
RSW-10 SUBWOOFER
The RSW-10 combines 10"
Cerametallic
drivers with a 1150-
watt BASH
®
amplifier, generating
enormous sound from a surprisingly
compact cabinet. It delivers more
thundering low bass with greater
clarity than much larger subwoofers,
and is finished in unobtrusive,
durable black vinyl.
