The band should begin shrinking in a few
seconds and will take on a glossy, glass like
appearance when fully heated. Allow the pliers
to cool for 30 minutes before handling.
A properly installed grip with the neck band
shrunken in place should stay in place when
you try to twist the grip on the plier handle. The
grip and clamp should not move when using
reasonable torque.

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
• Wearing eye protection and leather gloves,
perform the following steps.
•
Wipe pliers clean of any excess oil prior to
installing grip
•
DO NOT lubricate pliers prior to grip install

as this will interfere with heat shrink band

adherence.
•
Remove the heat shrink band from the
cardboard tube by crushing cardboard in on
itself, rotate 90° and crush again.
• Use the knurl on your 201-7CST ironworker
pliers to grab and pull the cardboard from the

heat shrink band, thereby removing it.

• Slide the band over the top, above the ribbed
section of the milker grip, twisting if necessary,
to spin it on.

• Slide the grip on as far forward onto the
straight handle as possible without the grip

interfering with the pliers ability to close fully,
ensuring the ribs face outward.

• Put the head of the pliers in a vise, away from
flammable materials.

Read, understand, and follow any instructions
included with your heat gun including any

limitations on its use.
•
Apply heat to the heat shrink band with a heat
gun on its lowest setting.

• Move heat gun continuously around as much of
the clamp’s surface as possible. Do not apply heat
to one spot too long. Move gun continuously.
• Do not apply any more heat or time than it
takes to shrink down the heat shrink band –
start with low settings to not overheat the parts.
