1. Introduction

The DM80 -DANTE card is a multi channel
audio inter face expan sion card for the
KLARK TEK NIK DM8000 Digit al Audio
Process or that allows DM80 00 to connect
to exter nal devices that u se Dante,
a high-pe rformance di gital media
protocol d esigned to deliver au dio over a
standar d Ethernet IP net work. This Dante
connec tion shares 32 x 32 channe ls of
audio wit h any network of Dan te-enabled
devices v ia single or redunda nt Ethernet
connec tion. Using existi ng network
infras tructure at 10 0 Mbit/s or 1 Gbit/s,
the Dante pro tocol o ers very stabl e,
low-laten cy transmissio n for a variety o f
professional applications unifying multi­channel au dio distribut ion across mult iple
locatio ns or device famili es.

2. Installation

Before yo u install the DM80 -DANTE card
in the net work module slot o f the DM8000
Digital Au dio Processor, you mus t check
klarkt eknik.com to verif y that the unit’s
host  r mware supports this card.

We recommen d that you periodic ally
check you r unit’s produc t page for
 rmware updates.

CAUTION: before insta lling the DM80­DANTE into the DM8 000 Digital Aud io
Process or, you must make sure that t he
main unit ’s power switch is turne d o .
Malfunc tions or elec trical shock m ay
occur otherwise.

To install a n interface I/O c ard:

DM8000

1. Make sure tha t the host unit’s
power is turn ed o .

2. Loosen the s crews fasteni ng the
expansi on slot cover, and then
remove the ex pansion slot cover
from the m ain chassis. Keep
the cover and th e screws in a
safe place.

3. Before removing the DM80-DANTE
card fro m its protecti ve bag,
we recommen d touching the
grounde d metal chassis of t he
host unit t o prevent elect rostatic
discharge from a ecting the
sensitive electronic components
on the exp ansion card.
We recommen d that you hold the
card eith er by the face plate or by
the two sma ll handles, but never
touching t he components on t he
circuit b oard directl y.

4. Identif y the expansion c ard
connectors (two male 40 pin
vertic al connectors). Align th e
DM80-DANTE female connectors
with the DM8 000 connect ors and
apply ver tical pressure bein g very
caref ul not to bend the pins. P ush
the card al l the way into the slot to
ensure tha t the contacts o f the card
are corre ctly insert ed.

5. Fasten the ca rd using the includ ed
screws (2 in t he faceplate and 2 to
the rear of th e PCB). Be aware that
damage or mal functions may o ccur
if the car d is not fastened.

6. Replace the c hassis cover and
replace all s crew before the u nit is
powered on.
