Before the First Use
Remove all packaging, both inside and outside the oven, before using the appliance. Before first use, the oven should be heated without food. During this time, an unpleasant odour may be emitted. This is quite normal.
1. Set the programmer to manual function.
Using the Oven
Always cook with the oven door
closed.
Stand clear when opening the drop down
oven door. Do not allow it to fall open - support the door using the door handle, until it is fully open.
The oven has four shelf levels. The shelf
positions are counted from the bottom of the oven as shown in the diagram.
Do not place cookware directly on the
oven base.
Do not rest anything on the bottom of the oven: dripping-pan, baking sheet, casseroles, oven dishes, tinfoil or anything else during operation, since this could cause stagnation of the heat and damage the enamel of the oven.
2. Switch the oven function control knob to
fan cooking .
3. Set the thermostat control knob to MAX.
4. Open a window for ventilation.
5. Allow the oven to run empty for
approximately 45 minutes. This procedure should be repeated with the grill function for approximately 5-10 minutes.

Telescopic shelf supports
- Shelf level 2 is fitted with telescopic shelf supports.
1. Pull the right and left hand telescopic shelf supports completely out, as shown in the diagram.
2. Place the shelf or the grill pan on the telescopic shelf supports, as shown in the diagram, then gently push them all inside the oven.
Do not attempt to close the oven door if the telescopic shelf supports are not completely inside the oven. This could damage the door enamel and glass.

Hints and Tips
Condensation and steam
When food is heated it produces steam in the same way as a boiling kettle. The oven vents allow some of this steam to escape. However, always stand back from the oven when opening the oven door to allow any build up of steam or heat to release. If the steam comes into contact with a cool surface on the outside of the oven, e.g. a trim, it will condense and produce water droplets. This is quite normal and is not a fault with the oven. To prevent discoloration, regularly wipe away condensation and also soilage from surfaces.
Cookware
Use any oven proof cookware which will
withstand temperatures of 250°C.
Baking trays, oven dishes, etc. should
not be placed directly against the grid covering the fan at the back of the oven, or placed on the oven base.
Do not use baking trays larger than 30
cm x 35 cm (12 in x 14 in) as they will restrict the circulation of heat and may affect performance.
The effects of dishes on cooking results
Dishes and tins vary in their thickness, conductivity, colour, etc. which affects the way they transmit heat to the food inside them.
A Aluminium, earthenware, oven glassware
and bright shiny utensils reduce cooking and underneath browning.
B Enamelled cast iron, anodized
aluminium, aluminium with non-stick interior and coloured exterior and dark, heavy utensils increase cooking and underneath browning.
Oven fan protection filter
During the cooking of meats, to avoid excessive fats splashing onto the fan, it is necessary to use the provided filter. Once cooking is finished the filter should be removed and washed carefully. To remove the filter it is sufficient to push the protruding tongue upwards. The filter should not be used for the cooking of other foods.

The Conventional Oven
When using this setting, heat comes from both the top and bottom elements. This allows you to cook on a single level and is particularly suitable for dishes which require extra base browning such as quiches and flans. Gratins, lasagnes and hotpots which require extra top browning also cook well in the conventional oven.
How to Use the Conventional Oven
1. Turn the oven function control knob to the
required cooking function ( ).
2. Turn the thermostat control knob to the required temperature.
Top oven element only
This function is suitable for finishing cooked dishes, e.g. lasagne, shepherds pie, cauliflower cheese etc.
Bottom oven element only
This function is particularly useful when blindbaking pastry. It may also be used to finish off quiches or flans to ensure the base pastry is cooked through.
Things to note
The thermostat control light will remain
on until the correct temperature is reached. It will then cycle on and off to show the temperature is being maintained.
The cooling fan will operate continually
during cooking. It may run on after the oven is switched off to keep the controls
cool. This is quite normal. The action of the cooling fan will depend on how long the oven has been used and at what temperature. It may not switch on at all at lower temperature settings nor run on where the oven has only been used for a short time.
Hints and Tips
- The middle shelf position allows for the
best heat distribution. To increase base
browning simply lower the shelf position.
To increase top browning, raise the shelf
position.
- The material and finish of the baking
trays and dishes used will affect base
browning. Enamelware, dark, heavy or
non-stick utensils increase base
browning, while oven glassware, shiny
aluminium or polished steel trays reflect
the heat away and give less base
browning.
- Always place dishes centrally on the
shelf to ensure even browning.
- Stand dishes on suitably sized baking
trays to prevent spillage onto the base
of the oven and make cleaning easier.
- Do not place dishes, tins or baking trays
directly on the oven base as it becomes
very hot and damage will occur.

Using the Fan Oven
The air inside the oven is heated by the element around the fan situated behind the back panel. The fan circulates hot air to maintain an even temperature inside the oven.
The advantages of cooking with this function are:
l Faster Preheating
As the fan oven quickly reaches temperature, it is not usually necessary to preheat the oven although you may find that you need to allow an extra 5-7 minutes on cooking times. For recipes which require higher temperatures, best results are achieved if the oven is preheated first, e.g. bread, pastries, scones, souffles, etc.
l Lower Temperatures
Fan oven cooking generally requires lower temperatures than conventional cooking. Follow the temperatures recommended in the cooking chart or remember to reduce temperatures by about 20-25°C for your own recipes which use conventional cooking.
l Even Heating for Baking
The fan oven has uniform heating on all runner positions. This means that batches of the same food can be cooked in the oven at the same time. However, the top shelf may brown slightly quicker that the lower one. This is quite usual. There is no mixing of flavours between dishes.
How to Use the Fan Oven
1. Turn the oven function control knob to .
2. Turn the thermostat control to the required temperature.
Things to note:
The oven light will come on when the oven
function control knob is set.
The oven fan will operate continually during
cooking.
The thermostat control light will remain on
until the correct temperature is reached. It will then cycle on and off to show the temperature is being maintained.
Defrosting
The oven fan operates without heat and circulates the air, at room temperature, inside the oven. This increases the speed of defrosting. However, please note that the temperature of the kitchen will influence the speed of defrosting. This function is particularly suitable for delicate food which could be damaged by heat, e.g. cream filled gateaux, iced cakes, pastries, bread and other yeast products.
How to Use Defrosting
1. Turn the oven function control knob to .
2. Ensure the thermostat control knob is in the OFF position.
12
Hints and Tips
Cover food with a lid, aluminium foil or
plastic film to prevent drying out during defrosting.
 ALWAYS COOK THOROUGHLY
IMMEDIATELY AFTER THAWING.
Frozen food should be placed in a single
layer when ever possible and turned over half way through the defrosting process.
Only joints of meat and poultry up to 2 kg.
(4 lb.) are suitable for defrosting in this way.
Tips on using the Oven
- Runner positions are not critical, but make sure the shelves are evenly spread.
- When cooking more than one dish in the fan oven, place dishes centrally on the shelves rather than several dishes on one shelf.
- When the oven is full, you may need to allow slightly longer cooking time.
- A shelf may be placed on the floor of the oven. Place dishes on a shelf in this position rather than on the oven base, to allow air circulation around the food.
- When the oven is full of the same food, e.g. equal trays of small cakes or equal size victoria sandwich cakes, then they will be cooked in the same time and removed from the oven together. When different sizes of trays or types of food, e.g. biscuits and cakes are cooked, they will not necessarily be ready together.
- The fan oven can be used to heat foods through without thawing first, e.g. fruit tarts, mince pies, sausage rolls, and other small pastry items. Use a temperature of 190-200°C and allow 20-40 minutes (depending on the quantity of food in the oven).
- The use of too high temperatures can cause uneven browning. Check with the recommendations for oven temperatures given in the cooking charts, but be prepared to adjust the temperature by 10°C if necessary. Remember to reduce temperatures by about 20-25°C for your own conventional recipes.
- When roasting do use the trivet in the meat tin. Fat and meat juices will drain into the meat tin below and can be used to make gravy. The trivet also prevents splashes of fat from soiling the oven interior.
- The meat tin should not be placed on a heated hotplate as this may cause the enamel to crack.

Grilling
Grilling must be carried out with the oven door closed. The grill pan handles must be removed from the pan.
How to Use the Grill
1. Turn the oven control function knob on
.
2. Turn the thermostat control knob on the required temperature.
3. Adjust the grid and grill pan runner position to allow for different thicknesses of food. Position the food close to the element for faster cooking and further away for more gentle cooking.
Preheat the grill on a full setting for a few minutes before sealing steaks or toasting. Adjust the heat setting and the shelf as necessary, during cooking. During cooking, the cooling fan and the thermostat control light will operate in the same way as described for the fan oven function.
Hints and Tips
- Most foods should be placed on the grid in
the grill pan to allow maximum circulation of air to lift the food out of the fats and juices. Food such as fish, liver and kidneys may be placed directly on the grill pan, if preferred
- Food should be thoroughly dried before grilling
to minimise splashing. Brush lean meats and fish lightly with a little oil or melted butter to keep them moist during cooking
- Accompaniments such as tomatoes and
mushrooms may be placed underneath the grid when grilling meats.
- When toasting bread, we suggest that the
top runner position is used.
- The food should be turned over during cooking,
as required. The grill element is controlled by the thermostat. During cooking, the grill cycles on and off to prevent overheating.
How to Use the Inner Grill Element
The inner grill provides quick direct heat to the central area of the grill pan. By using the inner grill element for cooking small quantities, it can help to save energy.
1. Turn the oven control function knob on
2. Turn the thermostat control knob on the required temperature.
3. Adjust the grid and grill pan runner position to allow for different thicknesses of food and follow the instructions for grilling.
How to Use the Thermal Grill
Thermal grilling offers an alternative method of cooking food items normally associated with conventional grilling. The grill element and the oven fan operate alternately, circulating hot air around the food. The need to check and turn the food is reduced. Thermal grilling helps to minimize cooking smells in the kitchen. With the exception of toast and rare steaks, you can thermally grill all the foods you would normally cook under a conventional grill. Cooking is more gentle, therefore food generally takes a little longer to cook with thermal grilling compared with conventional grilling. One of the advantages is that larger loads can be cooked at the same time.
1. Turn the oven control function knob on
2. Turn the thermostat control knob on the required temperature. Select a
maximum temperature of 200°C and do not exceed 1 hour of operation.
3. Adjust the grid and grill pan runner position to allow for different thicknesses of food and follow the instructions for grilling.

Hints and Tips
Prepare foods in the same way as for conventional grilling. Brush lean meats and fish lightly with little oil or butter to keep them moist during cooking.
A general guide to cooking times is given below but these times may vary slightly depending on the thickness and quantity of food being cooked.
16
Cleaning and maintenance
Ensure that the appliance is disconnected from the electricity supply before embarking upon any maintenance operation.
General cleaning
The oven should be cleaned when it is cold. Wash the enamelled parts with luke-warm water and soap, do not use abrasive products, pads, steel wool or acids which could ruin these sufaces. After use, rinse the stainless steel parts thoroughly in water and dry them with a soft cloth. For persistent stains use normal nonabrasive or specific products which are available on the market. Use only hot water to clean the glass of the oven door, and avoid using rough cloths. Hot acids from fruit (for example lemons, plums etc.) leave tough stains on the enamelled sufaces, which may cause them to lose their shininess but in no way affects the functioning of the oven. Clean the oven after use as it will be easier to remove cooking residues and thus avoid them burning next time the oven is used.
Changing the oven light bulb
Disconnect the appliance from the electricity supply, press and unscrew the glass protection sheath; unscrew the bulb and replace it with another one suitable for high temperatures (300°C) with the following characteristics: Tension : 230 V (50 Hz) Power : 25 W
Attachment: E14 Replace the glass sheath and re-connect the electricity supply.
FO 0287
Cleaning the oven
If the oven does not have self-cleaning panels it is advisable to clean it carefully, after use when it has cooled down completely, with hot water and soap (or with the special products available on the market).
17
Cleaning the oven door
It is advisable to remove the door from the oven in order to clean thoroughly; to do this follow this procedure:
- open it completely;
- lift the two levers positioned on the hinges and rotate them completely towards the door;
- close the door until it touches the two levers;
- push the door further towards the closed position and pull it outwards, extracting it.
After cleaning the door, replace it by reversing the procedure described above. The door is in the correct
position when the levers fit completely with the hinges.
Oven Shelves and Shelf Supports
To clean the oven shelves, soak in warm soapy water and remove stubborn marks with a well wetted soap impregnated pad. Rinse well and dry with a soft cloth.
- The shelf supports can be removed for easy cleaning (see diagramm). Please, ensure the retaining nuts are secure when refitting the shelf support.
When cleaning the shelf supports, take care not to remove the lubricating grease behind the telescopic runners. This is meant to ensure their good operation.

Electrical connection
Only qualified personnel should install the appliance (place in cabinet and make electrical connection). Every operation must be carried out with appliance disconnected from the electricity supply; when this is not possible the maximum care is required when working on the appliance.
Before proceeding to the connection of the oven make sure that:
- the limiting valve and the domestic electrical circuit are sufficient to support the load of the appliance (see identification plate);
- the electrical system is equipped with an earthing cable in accordance with current norms and legal provisions;
- the plug or omnipolar switch used to carry out the connection is easily accessible once the appliance is installed.
The appliance is sold with power cable, the conductors of which have a minimum section of 3x1.5 mm. Besides this, the cable must have a normalised plug suitable for the electrical load indicated on the identification plate. The plug should be connected to a suitable elctrical socket. If a direct connection to the supply is desired an omnipolar switch having a minimum opening of 3mm between the contacts must be installed between the appliance and the electricity supply; this switch must be suitable for the electrical load of the appliance and must conform to the current norms. The yellow/green earth wire must not be interrupted by the switch. In every case the supply cable must be positioned insuch a way that it can, at no time, reach temperaures of more than 90°C. After connection test the heating elements by putting them into operation for abour 3 minutes.
The manufacturers decline all responsibility for damage or accidents in cases where norms have not been observed and respected.
19
