Congratulations for choosing Kinetico to improve the quality of your water.
You will immediately begin to notice the numerous benefits of having quality
water in your home and the benefits of having a Kinetico water filtration
system.
“Kinetico” and the Kinetico logo are trademarks in the United States,
other countries or both, of Kinetico Incorporated, Newbury, Ohio.
Water is the most important resource liquid in the world.
And although the water you use for drinking and cooking
constitutes less than one percent of all water used in the
home, its quality is probably most important to you.
Experts suggest you drink approximately eight, eightounce glasses of water per day. Now that you have a
Kinetico Water Filtration System, you can rest assured
you’re drinking clean, high quality water. And it will
taste great too. With a Kinetico Water Filtration System,
drinking those eight glasses of water will be a pleasure,
not a chore.
How To Use High Quality Drinking Water
Since Water Filtration Systems significantly reduce heavy metals* (such as lead),
sediment, and unpleasant tastes and odors in your water**, you may want to make
some adjustments when cooking using your Water Filtration System.
* Not Performance Tested or Certified by NSF
** The contaminants listed are not necessarily in your water.
Let your taste buds decide how much water to use.
When mixing concentrated juices and drinks or making gelatin, tea or
1
coee, you may need to adjust the amount of water used. You may find that
you can use less coee or tea and still get the desired taste. Or in the case
of concentrated drinks, you can add more water without getting a watereddown taste. Also, it probably won’t be necessary for you to descale your
automatic coee maker with vinegar as recommended.
Your Filtered Water is ideal for cooking and baking.

System for cooking pasta, and washing fruits and
vegetables. Whenever a recipe calls for water, reach
for your drinking water tap.
Use your Filtered Water in irons and small humidifiers/vaporizers.
For extended operation and easier maintenance, use this Filtered Water in
irons and small humidifiers. You’ll no longer have to buy distilled water or
suer the consequences of using common tap water in irons and humidifiers.

If your refrigerator/freezer is equipped
with an ice maker, you may want to
consider running a line from your
system to the ice maker. If you don’t
have an ice maker, be sure to fill your
ice cube trays with Filtered Water.
Either way, you’ll be able to enjoy
better tasting and clearer ice cubes.
Houseplants and pets like Filtered Water too.
Don’t forget about your plants and pets. Just like you, they’ll love Kinetico
Filtered Water.
Maintaining Your Water Filtration System
NOTE: You must follow the Water Filtration System’s operational, maintenance
and replacement instructions to ensure proper system performance.
Do not use where water is microbiologically unsafe or with water of
unknown quality.
The Water Filtration System must be properly maintained to continue providing
high quality drinking water.
Shutting O the System
If you should ever discover a problem with your Water Filtration System, turn o
the water supply to the system. Then call your local, authorized Kinetico dealer
for service.
Filter Changes
An average family of four with average drinking water use can expect the
filtration cartridge to last approximately nine months to one year. Kinetico
recommends changing the cartridge at least once per year, or if the water flow
is reduced to an unacceptable level, or bad taste and/or odor return.
Your local, authorized Kinetico dealer will change your cartridge, check your
water and make sure your system is operating properly. If you choose to install
your new cartridge yourself, follow the instructions in the cartridge replacement
section at the end of this manual carefully. Never attempt to remove the system’s
cartridge without first depressurizing the system.

Install Your Kinetico Water Filtration System
What to Know Prior to Installation
• The Kinetico Water Filtration System is not to be used where water is
microbiologically unsafe or with water of unknown quality without adequate
disinfection before or after unit. Systems certified for cyst reduction may be
used on disinfected waters that may contain filterable cysts.
• For best performance and to maintain full capacity, it is recommended to
install a prefilter to protect this system.
• Do not install where line pressure is outside of 30-100 psi, or where
temperature is lower than 40˚F or exceeds 100˚F.
• Installation must comply with any existing local plumbing codes.
• The unit(s) must be protected against freezing. Failure to do so may result
in cracking of the filter and water leakage.
• This Kinetico Water Filtration System is designed for cold water line use
only. Passing hot water through the system may seriously damage filter
housing.
• Filter must be in contact with water at all times.
• Recommended pH range is 6 to 8.5.
• Recommended inlet pressure is 60 psi.
• Tools needed: drill, screwdriver, tube cutters (if hard plumbing: lead free
solder, heating device and flux).

Select appropriate space to install the filtration
system. The water filter should be mounted upright
on a vertical surface without obstructions; leaving a
minimum of 6” space below the system for cartridge
change outs. System measurements are shown below.
Prepare space for the system:
1. Select appropriate space to install the filtration system. The water filter
should be mounted upright on a vertical surface without obstructions;
leaving a minimum of 6” space below the system for cartridge change outs.
System measurements are shown below.
2. Identify incoming water line. Filtration System should be connected to cold
water only.
NOTE: For post mix, verify the water line selected is the one entering the
carbonator - NOT the carbonated water line. If a water booster pump
is present, the Filtration System should be installed after the water
boost before the carbonator.
3. Cut water supply lines.
NOTE: If hard copper plumbing is present, use only lead-free solder and protect
filter housing from heat. Do not solder within 12” of plastic parts.
4. If an existing filter needs to be removed, terminate both ends of plumbing
with appropriate fittings.
