Important Precautions
This symbol is used
to alert the operator to follow important operating procedures and precautions detailed in
documentation.
This symbol is used
to warn operators
that uninsulated
"dangerous voltages" are present
within the equipment enclosure that
may pose a risk of
electric shock.
1. Save the carton and
packing material
even if the equipment has arrived in
good condition.
Should you ever need to
ship the unit, use only
the original factory
packing.
2. Read all documenta-
tion before operating
your equipment.
Retain all documentation for future reference.
3. Follow all instructions
printed on unit chassis for proper operation.
4. Do not spill water or
other liquids into or
on the unit, or operate the unit while
standing in liquid.
5. Make sure power
outlets conform to
the power requirements listed on the
back of the unit.
6. Do not use the unit if
the electrical power
cord is frayed or
broken. The power
supply cords should be
routed so that they are
not likely to be walked
on or pinched by items
placed upon or against
them, paying particular
attention to cords and
plugs, convenience
receptacles, and the
point where they exit
from the appliance.
7. Always operate the
unit with the AC
ground wire connected to the electrical
system ground.
Precautions should be
taken so that the means
of grounding of a piece
of equipment is not
defeated.
8. Mains voltage must
be correct and the
same as that printed
on the rear of the
unit. Damage caused by
connection to improper
AC voltage is not covered by any warranty.
9. Have gain controls on
amplifiers turned
down during powerup to prevent speaker
damage if there are high
signal levels at the
inputs.
10. Power down &
disconnect units
from mains voltage
before making connections.
11. Do not use the unit
near stoves, heat
registers, radiators,
or other heat producing devices.
12. Do not block intake
or exhaust ports. Do
not operate equipment
on a surface or in an
environment which may
impede the normal flow
or air around the unit,
such as a bed, rug,
weathersheet, carpet, or
completely enclosed
rack. If the unit is used
in an extremely dusty or
smoky environment, the
unit should be periodically "blown free" of
foreign matter.
13. Do not remove the
cover. Removing the
cover will expose you to
potentially dangerous
voltages. There are no
user serviceable parts
inside.
14. Connecting ampli-
fier outputs to oscilliscopes or other test
equipment while the
amplifier is in bridged mode may damage
both the amplifier and
test equipment.
15. Do not drive the inputs
with a signal level greater than that required to
drive equipment to full
output.
16. Do not connect the
inputs/outputs of
amplifiers or consoles to any other voltage source, such as a
battery, mains source, or
power supply, regardless
of whether the amplifier
or console is turned on
or off.
17. Do not run the out-
put of any amplifier
channel back into
another channel's
input. Do not parallel-or series-connect
an amplifier output
with any other amplifier output. KIND is
not responsible for
damage to loudspeakers
for any reason.
18. Do not ground any
red ("hot") terminal.
For connection of "hot"
terminals to get parallel
high current mode see
appropriate paragraph.
19. Non-use periods. The
power cord of equipment should be unplugged from the outlet
when left unused for a
long period of time.
20. Service information.
Equipment should be
serviced by qualified service personnel when:
A. The power supply cord
or the plug has been
damaged;
B. Objects have fallen, or
liquid has been spilled
into the equipment;
C. The equipment has
been exposed to rain;
D. The equipment does
not appear to operate
normally, or exhibits a
marked change in
performance;
E. The equipment has been
dropped, or the enclosure damaged.

Product Warranty
KIND Audio guarantees the
MCX models to be free from
defective material and/or workmanship for a period of three
years (1095 days) from the date
of sale, and will replace defective
parts and repair malfunctioning
products under this warranty
when the defect occurs under
normal installation and use--provided the unit is returned to our
factory via prepaid transportation with a copy of the proof of
purchase, i.e., sales receipt. This
warranty provides that examination of the returned products
must indicate, in our judgment, a
manufacturing defect. This warranty does not extend to any
product which has been subjected to misuse, neglect, accident,
improper installation, or where
the date code has been removed
or defaced.

Introduction
Congratulations on your purchase of a KIND audio power amplifier. We would like to thank you
for your confidence in us and
our products. The power amplifier was hand-made in Italy. All
the components were specially
selected. Although the amplifier
was designed to allow straightforward and uninterrupted
operation, improper handling or
incorrect installation could
damage the power amplifier.
Some indications on this manual
are inteded for six channel version, for the four channel version
are not to be considered. Your
amplifier represents the latest
technology in power amplifier
design. Please read this manual
carefully as it contains information vital to the safe operation of
your amplifier.
Unpacking
Check the carton box and its
contents immediately to see if
there is any sign of damage.
Upon unpacking inspect the
amplifier, if you detect any damage inform the forwarding agent
without delay and ask for the
damage to be documentated.
Claims can only be made against
the forwarder agent by the consignee. Be sure to save the carton and all packaging materials
for the carrier's inspection.
It's a good idea to save the carton and packing material even if
the amplifier has arrived in good
condition. Should you ever need
to ship the unit back to KIND, or
one of its Service Center.
Using only the original factory
packaging will be the best way to
save the unit from carrier negligence.
Installation/Mounting
All MCX models amplifiers are
2-rack space units that can
mount in a standard 19" rack.
Four front panel mounting holes
are provided. Rear mounting ears
give additional support especially
important in mobile sound
systems.
The unit should not to be installed
in a location with:
•Too high ambient temperatures,
dust build-up or excessive humidity;
•Fog machines output’s oriented
to the area of the amplifier;
•Exhaust air ventilators and similar units near the area of the
amplifier;
•With permanent vibrations;
•With excessive induction or
magnetic fields due to tranformers and transmitters;

Disimballaggio

Installazione/Montaggio
Tutti i modelli di amplificatori
MCX sono 2 unità, possono
essere montati in un rack 19"
standard, sono previsti 4 fori sul
pannello frontale per il montaggio. Per avere un fissaggio ottimale, importante nei sistemi mobili,
supporti addizionali sono presenti sul retro.
L’unità non dovrebbe essere installata in posti con:
•Temperatura in ambiente troppo alta, troppa polvere o eccessiva umidità;
•L’uscita di macchine del fumo
orientata nell’area dell’amplificatore;
•Ventilatori di scarico e simili
unità vicino all’area dell’amplificatore;
•Con vibrazioni permanenti;
•Con eccessiva induzione dovuta
al campo magnetico di trasformatori e trasmettitori;

1. Rack mounting ears
Two front panel mounting holes
are provided on each mounting
ear.
2. Input attenuators
Four/Six front panel precision 21
pc input attenuators adjust level
for their respective amplifier
channels. Minimum attenuation (0dB) equals maximum output. In
the bridge mode only ch. A/C/E
attenuator must be used to control signal level.
3. Clip/Limiter LED
Each channel has a LED that light
at the real clipping point (more
than 0.5% T.H.D.) independent
from the load or possible main
voltage fluctuation, and indicates
(when switched on) the limiter
engaged.
4. Signal LED
Each channel has a LED that
lights when the output signal is 20dBr point relative to the clipping point.
5.Active LED
The green active LED illuminates
to indicate that the amplifier is
turned on.
6.AC power switch
Use this to switch on the amplifier. A soft-start limits the toroidal transformer surges.
7. A.C. Power cable
The MCX models have one A.C.
power cable. Before connection,
be sure that the cable is not
frayed or broken.The connection
must be made only in a plug with
the electrical ground wire
system.
8. S.N. label
Every unit has a label indicating:
the model, the output power, the
main voltage, the power requirement and the barcode serial
number.
9. Europlug output connectors
The amplifier outputs are
two/three, one for every two
channels. Every output can be
used both for standard stereo
connection and for bridge mono
mode operations. For reference
see drawings 1-3.
10. Input GND lift switch
These two switches work
together. Are used to connect or
isolate (by means of a resistor)
the amp’s signal ground from the
chassis/A.C. ground. In situations
where chassis ground must be lifted, never disconnect the ground
from the A.C. plug, but use these
switches.

(oltre lo 0.5% T.H.D.) indipendentemente dal carico o da una possibile variazione dell'alimentazione, indica anche (quando inserito) l'intervento del limiter.
4. Signal LED
Ogni canale ha un LED che si
illumina quando il segnale d'uscita
é a -20dBr dal punto di clipping
relativo.
5.Active LED
Il LED verde active si illumina per
indicare che l'amplificatore é
acceso.
6. Pulsante di accensione
Usatelo per accendere l'amplificatore. Un sistema di soft-start
limita l'assorbimento del trasformatore toroidale.
7. Cavo di alimentazione
A.C.
I modelli MCX hanno un cavo di
alimentazione A.C.(Corrente
Alternata 230V). Prima di connetterlo, controllare che non sia
spelato o rotto. La connessione
va fatta solo in una presa che
abbia il sistema di messa a terra.
8. Etichetta S.N.
Ogni unità ha una etichetta indicante: il modello, la potenza d’uscita, il voltaggio di alimentazione,
l’assorbimento e il numero di
serie in codice a barre.
9. Connettori di uscita
europlug
Le uscite dell'amplificatore sono
due/tre, una ogni due canali.
Ognuna di queste uscite può
essere usata per lo standard collegamento in stereo o per il collegamento in mono quando l'amplificatore è usato a ponte. Per
riferimento vedi disegni 1-3.
10. Switch GND di ingresso
Questi due switch operano insieme. Sono usati per collegare o
isolare (tramite una resistenza) il
GND del segnale d’ingresso dal
GND dell’A.C. (messa a terra)
collegato anche al contenitore
dell’unità. In situazioni dove la
messa a terra deve essere scollegata dal GND del segnale d’ingresso, mai scollegarla dalla spina
di alimentazione 230V ma usare
questi switch.

11. Configuration switches
Setup these switches for the
desired operation mode. For
reference see drawings 1-3.
12. Input connectors
XLR female connector is provided on each channel for balanced
or unbalanced input.
Unfortunate wiring, in the proximity of dimmers or other generalised phase controls, motors,
transformer, etc. can cause interference into your system.You will
hear loud humming or a bumping
noise in the loudspeakers.
Balanced wiring suppresses these
noises quite significantly. For
wiring see drawings 1-3.
13. Hi-Low pass filter
One of the advantages of your
amplifier, that will let you expand
the application range, is the builtin filter for each channel: Hi/Low
pass at 100 Hz - 18 dB/Oct.

These filters can be used to:
• Directly connect to the amplifier Subs and Satellites; no external x-over is needed.
• Cut low frequencies for loudspeaker equipped with small LF
drivers.
• Cut low frequencies for 100V
transformed distribution line.
For filter setup see drawings 4-6.
14. Cooling exhaust ports
On bottom, top and right side of
the amplifier are located the
cooling exhaust ports. Be sure to
not block the ports especially
during rack-mounting or installation.

12. Connettori di ingresso
Un connettore femmina XLR è
fornito per ogni canale per l’ingresso bilanciato o sbilanciato.
Cablaggi sfortunati in prossimità
di dimmer o altri controlli di
fase, motori, ecc. possono causare interferenze nel vostro sistema. Si sentiranno rumori come
ronzii o scariche negli altoparlanti. Connessioni bilanciate sopprimono significativamente questi
rumori. Per il cablaggio vedi disegni 1-3.
13. Filtro passa Alto-Basso
Uno dei vantaggi del vostro
amplificatore, che vi consentirà di
espandere la sua gamma di applicazioni, è quello di essere equipaggiato per ogni canale di filtro
passa Alto/Basso con Freq. a
100Hz - 18dB/Oct.. Questo filtro
potrà essere usato per:
• Collegare direttamente all’ampificatore Sub e Satelliti eliminando l’uso di extra crossover esterni.
• Tagliare le frequenze basse a diffusori che montano piccoli driver
per le basse frequenze.
• Tagliare le frequenze basse a
trasformatori di linea per distribuzione a 100V.

da 4-6.
14.Aperture per il raffreddamento
Sotto, sopra e sul fianco dell’amplificatore sono presenti delle
aperture per il raffreddamento.
Accertatevi di non ostruire queste aperture quando:
• Montate a rack l'amplificatore.
• Lo appoggiate su un piano.

maximum power current draw
rating is limited only by the internal fuses. Consult the specification at the end of this manual for
the power each amplifier will
demand. Mains voltage must also
be correct and the same as that
printed on the rear of the amplifier. Damage caused by connecting the amplifier to improper
AC voltage is not covered by any
warranty. Note: always switch off
and disconnect the amplifier
from mains voltage before
making audio connections, and as
an extra precaution, have the
attenuators turned down during
power-up.
Cooling Requirements
The amplifier's cooling system is
based on natural air convection.
Cold air comes in through the
bottom port and goes out from
lateral and upper ports. Be sure
to preserve enough space under
the amplifier to let the cold air
come in and above the unit to let
the hot air go out. Be sure to not
block the ports especially:
• During rack-mounting, do not
use rack cover, do not fit one
amplifier directly over another,
but leave at least one unit space.
• Using the amplifier on a flat
platform, in this case use the
appropriate rubber feet (provided) under the unit to guarantee
the air flow.

Esigenze di raffreddamento
Il sistema di raffreddamento si

lasciare sufficiente spazio sotto
l'amplificatore per permettere

all'unità per permettere all'aria
calda di uscire. Accertatevi di
non ostruire queste aperture
quando:
• Montate a rack l'amplificatore.
Se l'amplificatore é montato a
rack, non usate porte o coperchi.
Note: qualunque tipo di rack stiate usando, accertatevi che l'aria
calda possa uscire liberamente e
che non ci sia resistenza all'ingresso dell’aria fredda.
• Appoggiate l’amplificatore su un
piano. In questo caso è bene
montare sotto l’unità i piedini in
gomma forniti assieme all’amplificatore in modo che rimanga uno
spazio per il passaggio dell’aria
tra l’unità e il piano d’appoggio.

Configurazione
Utilizzare gli switch di configurazione per configurare l’amplificatore secondo le vostre esigenze.
Le impostazioni vanno eseguite
con l’unità spenta. Tramite questi
switch è possibile configurare
l’amplificatore per le seguenti
funzioni:
Clip Limiter
Il circuito tiene la T.H.D. sotto
all’1%, la selezione è indipendente per ogni canale. Usare questa
funzione quando l’amplificatore
potrebbe essere sovrapilotato.
Uso in stereo (standard)
Nell'uso in stereo i canali operano in modo indipendente, con i
propri attenuatori di ingresso
che controllano i propri rispettivi
livelli. Segnale all'ingresso del
canale A produce l'uscita al canale A, e così per i restanti canali. Il
carico minimo raccomandato per
l'uso in stereo è 4 Ohm per
canale. Gli altoparlanti sono collegati al connettore di uscita
Europlug, ogni connettore permette il collegamento degli altoparlanti a due canali dell’amplificatore. Note: non connettere
altoparlanti all'uscita bridge (centrale al connettore) quando
usate l'amplificatore in stereo
(vedi disegno 1).
Uso in mono a ponte
Nell’uso in mono a ponte, ogni
coppia di canali dell’amplificatore
funziona con lo stesso segnale
d’ingresso, ma con fasi inverse. Il
risultato è il raddoppio del voltaggio d’uscita e questo raddoppia la potenza sul doppio dell’impedenza. Se l’amplificatore deve
operare in mono a ponte, il
segnale va connesso all’ingresso
del canale A/C/E; non deve essere
applicato nessun segnale all’ingresso del canale B/D/F. Solo il
controllo di livello del canale
A/C/E deve essere usato per
regolare il volume degli altoparlanti. Il controllo di livello del
canale B/D/F non funziona. Gli
altoparlanti devono essere connessi solo nella posizione centrale del connettore Europlug riferito ai canali messi a ponte in
mono e la loro impedenza non
deve scendere al di sotto degli 8
Ohm (vedi disegno 2).
Configuration
Use the configuration switch to
configurate the amplifier to meet
your requirements. The setup
must be done with the unit switch off. With these switches is
possible to configurate the amplifier for the following functions:
Clip Limiter
The circuit keeps the amplifier’s
T.H.D. under 1%. Selection is
independent for each channel.
Use this function when the
amplifier may be overdrived.
Stereo Mode (standard)
In stereo mode use both channels operate independently. Input
attenuators control their respective levels. The signal connected
to the A input will produce output from the A channel.The same
for the others. Recommended
minimum nominal load impedance for stereo operation is 4 Ohm
per channel. Loudspeakers must
be connected to the output
Europlug connector, each of
them is used to connect the
loudspeakers to two amplifier
channels. Note: do not connect
loudspeaker to the bridge mono
output (middle of the connector)
when stereo mode is selected
(See drawing 1).
Bridged Mono Mode
In Bridged Mono mode, a couple
of channels work with the same
input signal, but with inverse
phase. The result is a doubling of
the output voltage and therefore
double the power on the double
impedance. If the amplifier is to
be operated in Bridged Mono
mode, ONLY the channel A/C/E
input may be used; no signal must
be applied to the channel B/D/F
input. Only channel A/C/E level
control must be used to adjust
the loudspeaker's volume. The
channel B/D/F level control doesn't work. The loudspeaker may
be connected only to the central
position of each Europlug connector and their impedance
should be not less than 8 Ohm
(See drawing 2).

Parallel Inputs (Link)
One of the advantages of your
amplifier, that allows you to save
time and extra connectors, is the
input link management. These
switches are used to copy the
input signal of one channel to the
next. Linking more than one
channel you create a signal BUS
where every independent power
channel has the same input
signal. The loudspeaker must be
connected as in stereo mode
(See drawing 3 as example).

Protection Features
Every model incorporates sophisticate protection features.
Derived from KIND years experience with installer and rental
companies, the group of circuits
is the latest technology for
amplifiers and load protection.
Real Load Limiter
By inserting the switch on the
back side you will activate the
limiter function (independent for
each channel).This is indicated by
illumination of CLIP/LIM LED.
The channel gain will automatically be reduced, protecting the
loudspeakers against the damage
for distorted signal. When switched on the limiter function is
activated automatically as soon
as the amplifier is overdrived or
there is uncontrolled feedback,
oscillation, or an improper equipment setting or malfunction
upstream from the amplifier. Also
if limiter function is activated
normal program transient will
not trigger the limiter; only
steady or excessive clipping will.
The limiter does not affect the
signal bandwidth.
Thermal Protection
In case of abnormal high temperature of the heatsink due to inadequate ventilation, the amplifier
will protect itself by muting the
outputs.As soon as the system is
sufficiently cool it will re-establish normal function.
Short Circuit
If an output is shorted (i.e.,
defective speakers or wrong
speaker wires) the short protection and thermal circuitry will
automatically protect the amplifier. Same protection will limit
the output stage in case the load
connected will be lower than
3Ohm.
A.C. surges limitation
A system of soft-start reduces
the switch on surges, an essential
requirement in multiple amplifiers situation.
Switch on-off transient
An electronic mute system eliminates the switch on-off transient
that can damage the loudspeakers connected to the amplifier.

Caratteristiche delle protezioni
Ogni modello incorpora delle
protezioni sofisticate. Sono derivate dall'esperienza di KIND con
installatori e service, l'insieme dei
circuiti é la più recente tecnologia per la protezione dell'amplificatore e del suo carico.
Limiter su carico reale
Inserendo lo switch sul retro
sarà attivata la funzione limiter
(indipendente per ogni canale).
L’intervento è indicato dall'illuminazione del CLIP/LIM LED. Il guadagno del canale sarà automaticamente ridotto, proteggendo
l'altoparlante da danni dovuti al
segnale distorto. La funzione limiter é attivata automaticamente
non appena l'amplificatore é
sovrapilotato oppure quando c'é
un feedback, oscillazioni, equipaggiamento malfunzionante o mal
settato a monte dell'amplificatore. Anche se il limiter é attivato
nel normale programma i transienti non lo rendono efficace. Il
limiter non condiziona l'ampiezza
di banda.
Protezione termica
Se la temperatura del dissipatore
raggiunge una condizione anormale, per ventilazione inadeguata,
l'amplificatore si proteggerà mettendo in mute l’uscita, ripristinandola quando sarà sufficientemente raffreddato.
Corto circuito
Se un'uscita é cortocircuitata
(per es. altoparlanti difettosi
oppure cablaggi degli altoparlanti
errati) la protezione sul corto, e
la protezione termica proteggeranno l'amplificatore. La stessa
protezione limiterà lo stadio di
uscita nel caso che il carico connesso sia minore di 3 Ohm.
Limitazione sovracorrenti
A.C.
Un sistema di soft-start riduce le
sovracorrenti A.C. all’accensione,
un requisito essenziale in una
situazione con amplificatori multipli.
Transienti dell’accensione-spegnimento
Un sistema con mute elettronico
elimina i transienti dell’accensione-spegnimento, che possono
danneggiare gli altoparlanti connessi all’amplificatore.

Suggestions
Use flexible double isolated cable
and be sure that the resistance of
the lead is kept low. This helps
prevent power loss and increases
the impulse response of the
sound reproduction. With the
KIND amplifier loudspeaker is
controlled exactly in accordance
with signal waveform, and accelleration or breaking of the loudspeaker membrane is performed
with precision. This prevents
uncontrolled overshooting which
is particularly audible in the low
frequency range. The resistence
of the loudspeaker cable can be
affected by the length and section of the cable. Europlug cable
connectors permit to use cable
of 2.5 mm max.
The recommended cable section
depends on the power of the
connected loudspeaker and the
length of the lead.(For reference
see table "Wire Gauge Charts").
