maintain temperature at a particular point in a space or
system. They can be electronic, digital and analog. They
can open or close an electrical circuit depending on
the temperature, keeping it within a set range or level.
• They are designed for measuring or controlling the
temperature
• The simplest types have a bimetallic plate for
opening or closing a circuit which activates or
deactivates a compressor
