Getting Started
You should know
The HW229 is using Dual Band transmission so you can listen and talk in the same time.
Eac h Walkie-Talkie uses t hre e 1 . 5 - volt AAA bat tery.
To install batt er ies, please f ollow t he steps below.
1. Open Battery Compartment.
2. Att ach the batter y t o contact s. Check the + and – ends of the batteries for proper polarity.
3. Replace batter y c ompart me nt cover by slippi ng cover into place and r eplacing screw. Make
sure screw is firmly tightened.
We recommend
! Alkaline batter ies ar e r ecommended for longer life.
! Removing batteries if unit is not to be used for more than 30 days.
! It’s alway s better to replace both batter ies at the same time.

Power On/Off
To turn yo u Walkie-Talkies on, set the Power On/Off button to On positio n.
To turn off your Walkie-Talkies, set the Power On/Off button to Off position.

Sending a Message
! Directly speaks i nto the Microphone.

! Keep the Microphone about 1/2 inches from your mouth while speaking into the
Microphone.

Sending Built-in Phrases or Sounds
While pressing Sound B utton to send any of the built-in phrases or sounds to t he other party.
You should know
! Both you and other party will listen the built-in phrase or sound when the button is
pressed.
Receiving a Message
Once turned on the unit, you can receive a message fr om ot her party. You should hear the
message through Speaker.
You should know
! You ca n send a message and receive a message at the same time.
Game Ideas
Walkie-Talkies are great for all kinds of kids games and activities. Here are some fun
suggestions:
Hide and Seek
One kid hides, while the other wait s f or a few minutes. The hiding kid can signal the seeking
kid by giving clues regarding t he hiding place.
What’s the Password?
Two kids stand on either side of a closed door, or in separate rooms. One kid tries to enter the
other’s room by saying t he password.
Guess that Sound
A kid sends a mys t er y s ound, like a song, TV sound, or dog’s bar k. The other t r ies t o guess
what it is. Kids can take turns, when one has guessed the other’s mystery sound.
