WARNING! Do not connect any Kidde alarm to a Firex®wire harness with an
orange interconnect lead. This is an incompatible system that will damage
some or all of the interconnected alarms and create a possible fire hazard.

The Kidde and Firex alarm models listed in this user guide have been
tested to be interconnect compatible. That compatibility exists with or
without the use of the wiring harness adapters.If the smoke alarm being
replaced is installed in a location required by the building code, an alarm
with smoke sensing capabilities must be reinstalled at that location.

If the power harness currently wired into the structure does not match one
of the two shown in Image 1, or has an orange wire, then this is not the
correct wiring adapter for your application.

IMPORTANT: Read all instructions before installation and keep this guide
for future reference. Read and become familiar with the operating manual
and all other literature supplied with each alarm in your home.

The KA-F adapter can only be used when interconnecting with Firex
model ADC. The KA-FG adapter can only be used when interconnecting
with Firex®models G-6, G-18 and PG. These models have been tested for
interconnect compatibility with the Kidde alarm models: 1235CA, 1275CA,
1276CA, 1285CA, PE120CA, PI2000CA, KN-COSM-IBCA, KN-COSM­ICA, i12020CA, i12040CA and i12060CA.

These smoke alarm adapters allow the installation of a Kidde alarm to an
existing Firex
harness supplied with your new Kidde alarm is not to be used.

• You will need to remove the existing Firex
the mounting plate supplied with your new Kidde alarm.

• Connect the appropriate Kidde adapter to your Kidde alarm and then
attach it to the Firex

• Secure the Kidde alarm to the mounting plate.

• After installation, be sure that the AC power indicator is operating and
test all your alarms following the instructions supplied by the alarm
manufacturer for your specific alarm model.

• If the alarms are interconnected, push the Test button on each alarm
and verify that all the interconnected alarms sound when any alarm is
activated. (Note: The interconnect system should not exceed the NFPA
interconnect limit of 12 smoke alarms or 6 if interconnecting to the
Firex

®

Warranty

If after reviewing this manual you feel that this smoke alarm adaptor
is defective in any way, do not tamper with it. In many cases, the
quickest way to exchange your smoke alarm adaptor is to return it
to the original place of purchase. Alternatively, you may return it for
servicing to Kidde. If you have questions, call Kidde Customer
Service at 1-800-880-6788.

5 Year Limited Warranty

Kidde warrants the original purchaser that this enclosed adaptor will
be free from defects in material and workmanship or design under
normal use and service for a period of five years from the date of
purchase.

The obligation of Kidde under this warranty is limited to repairing or
replacing this smoke alarm adaptor or any part which we find to be
defective in material, workmanship or design, free of charge to the
customer, upon sending this smoke alarm adaptor with proof of date
of purchase, postage and return postage prepaid, to Kidde Canada
Inc., Customer Service Department, 130 Esna Park Drive,
Markham, ON L3R 1E3. 1-800-880-6788.

This warranty shall not apply to this smoke alarm adaptor if it has
been damaged, modified, abused or altered after the date of
purchase.

The liability of Kidde or any of its parent or subsidiary corporations arising
from the sale of this smoke alarm adaptor or under the terms of this
limited warranty shall not in any case exceed the cost of replacement of
smoke alarm adaptor and, in no case shall Kidde or any of its parent or
subsidiary corporations be liable for consequential loss or damages
resulting from the failure of the smoke alarm adaptor or for breach of this
or any other warranty, express or implied, even if the loss or damage is
caused by the company’s negligence or fault.

Since some provinces do not allow limitations on the duration of an
implied warranty or do not allow the exclusion or limitation of
incidental or consequential damages, the above limitations or
exclusions may not apply to you. While this warranty gives you
specific legal rights, you may also have other rights which vary from
province to province.

The above warranty may not be altered except in writing signed by
both parties hereto.
