KEYSTONE ATEX - OPERATING AND SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
HIGH PERFORMANCE BUTTERFLY VALVES (MODEL WINN HISEAL)
Additional Safety Instructions for Valves and Accessories being used in aPotentially Explosive Atmosphere under ATEX 94/9/EC
REFERENCE
These are additional safety instructions to PEDdocument number: VCOSI-01734. See also: Emerson.com/FinalControl
Strictly in accordance with the requirements of ATEX 94/9/EC. Marking includes:
• CE Mark.
• The Notified Body number if applicable (1180SGS Baseefa).
• Epsilon X (Ex Mark).
• The Equipment Group II (non-mining equipment).
• The Equipment Category 1, 2 or 3, see label.
• The Type of Explosive Atmosphere GD (gasand dust).
• The Means of Protection Used (c) (Voluntary).
• The Temperature Class T1-T6 (Voluntary), seethe third note in selection below.
• The Applicable Certificate Number from theNotified Body.
SELECTION
• During installation ensure that no metallic shocks/impacts are made to the equipment or the adjacent pipework.
• Ensure that the equipment is suitably earthed, through the pipe or individually.
• The installer should thoroughly follow the operating and safety instructions provided foreach individual item of equipment.
• When the valve is to handle hot fluids or fluids where exothermic reactions may take place, the end user must take al the necessary measures to ensure that the hot surface of the valve cannot provide a source of ignition to the surrounding gas, vapor, mist or dust atmosphere.
• Before putting into use or during operation with a dangerous fluid, ensure that no release of the fluid to atmosphere can take place.
• In case of actuated valves, ensure no brittle materials are used for the bracket and coupling.
• The risk assessment of the actuated packages has been performed supposing themaximum tangential velocity of the moving parts is less than 1 m/s. If the actual velocity exceeds 1 m/s, a new conformity assessment is required.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS FOR SAFE USE
• When connected to an actuator the maximum rubbing speed of any component within the valve must not exceed 1 ms
• The ambient temperature range for which these valves are suitable depends on the materials used in their construction and the pressure at which they will be used. The maximum withstand temperature is included in the Equipment Directive (PED) marking. The lower ambient will be specified in the documentation provided with each valve.
-
¹.
• Ensure that the equipment is marked with thecorrect equipment group, category and type of atmosphere for the application and that the safety instructions are followed for each item of the equipment.
• In particular, all items included in an actuator package, including valve, actuator and all accessories should be CE marked to ATEX in the appropriate and/or requested category.
• The temperature classification of valves is entirely dependant on the process fluid passing through the valve. If relevant, this must be established by the end user and must not exceed the maximum temperature rating of the valve, marked on the valves identification label.
INSTALLATION
• The installer must only use tooling appropriate to the working area, seeEN1127-1 Annex A.
• Installation has to be carried out at ambient temperature.

MAINTENANCE
• The operator must ensure that only personnel qualified to work in a potentially hazardous area are allowed to carry out maintenance appropriate to the category of the equipment in use.
• The end user must ensure that only tooling appropriate to the working area is used, see EN1127-1 Annex A.
• All equipment must only be fitted with manufacturer’s original spare parts.
