Solution/Action:
To determine if a particular power supply has “excess turn-off overshoot”, follow this
test sequence:
1. Connect the power supply to the ac power line.
2. Turn the power supply “on”.
3. Connect a DVM across the power supply output terminals (set the DVM to
continuously sample, rate should should be at least two samples per second).
4. Set the power supply output voltage to any value below half scale (no load
condition).
5. Observe the DVM readings of the power supply output when the supply is
switched to “off”.
6. If the readings increase after the power supply is switched “off” by more than 5%
then the power supply has “excess turn-off overshoot”.
“Excess turn-off overshoot” may be corrected by replacing C13 (P/N 0180-4085,
330uF 35V) with P/N 0180-4355 (470 uF 50V).
