If the Date Code of the A1U12 is “92xx” and the Mfr Part Number of the A1U54 is
“74F573” or “74BCT573”, the address error may occur, which hangs up the 8751A or
generates an unexpected reset.
Solution/Action:
Replace the A1U54 with the new one (Mfr Part Number: 74ABT573, Part Number: 1820-
8885).

Procedure:
1. Disconnect the power cable from the 8751A.
2. Remove the top cover and the shield plate from the 8751A.
3. Remove the A1 board from the 8751A.
4. Check the Date Code of the A1U12 and the Mfr Part Number of the A1U54.
(The Date Code and the Mfr Part Number are printed on each part. See Figure 1.)
If the Date Code of the A1U12 is “92xx” and the Mfr Part Number of the A1U54 is
“74F573” or “74BCT573”, proceed to the next step.
5. Remove the old A1U54 (Mfr Part Number: 74F573 or 74BCT573).
Note:
When removing the old A1U54 from the A1 board, be careful
not to cut the printed-circuit pattern. to prevent damage to the
printed-circuit board, it is recommended that you cut all leads
first and then remove each soldered lead one by one.
6. Install the new A1U54 (Mfr Part Number: 74ABT573, Part Number 1820-8885)
7. Reinstall the A1 board in the 8751A.
8. Turn the 8751A ON and confirm the “POWER ON TEST FAILED” message is
NOT displayed.
9. Turn the 8751A OFF.
10. Reinstall the shield plate and the top cover on the 8751A.
