Situation:

There is a misprinted A7A3C 10 polarity sign on A7A3, pa rt number 08662-60604 whic h c a uses
C10 to be inserted in the reverse-bias position. The A7A3C10, 270 uf electrolatic capacitor, will
fail when the 8662A/63A operates over time.

Solution / Ac t ion :

All defective boa rds ha ve be e n pur ge d f ro m sto ck and reworked. Th e fix ed boa rd s w ill ha ve a
new revision, Re v B 403 8. The bo ard pa rt number remains the sa me, p art nu mbe r 08662-60604.

Customers, who own the 8662A/63A with the above se ria l num be r will be notif ied f or repair . The
repair can be done by Agilent-Qualified pe rsonnel or the custom er.

Repair procedure:

1. Turn off power of 8662/6 3A.

2. Pull out AC power co rd from 8662/ 63A

3. Take off topsid e of St an d-of fs and cov er with T-15 Torx drive r.

4. Locate black powe r suppl y co ve r that is loca te d at lowe r righ t side of co rn er when you face
to rear side o f th e in str u m ent.

5. Unscrew 6 screws wit h #2 Po zi or Phill ip dr ive r , and tak e th e to p co ve r off.

6. Pull out A7A3 (08662-60604) by pull ing out orange colored tap s.

7. Locate C10 (270uF 25V) that is located on the lower left side of A7A3.

* Inspect A7A3C10

- If C10 did not leak, conti nue ste p 8

- If C10 leaked and damaged the board(s), return unit to Agilent Service Center for board(s)
replacement
