8657A ALC Adjustment Procedure Changes
To Be Performed By: Agilent-Qualified Personnel
A new design of attenuator was introduced to the product without the Service Manual
adjustments being revised.
The insertion loss characteristic of the new attenuator is different from that of the old one.
As a result, adjustment 12d, Level and ALC Loop Detector Adjustment cannot be carried
out to specification in every instrument.
Solution/Action:
When completing Adjustment 12d, Level and ALC Loop Detector Adjustment, on pages
5-36 and 5-37 of manual part number 08657-90115, be aware of the following setup
changes:
(i) In step 2. Amplitude (8657A) should read +4.5dBm and NOT +7dBm.
(ii) In step 4. The 8657A ‘Adjust for:’ section of the table should read +4.5dBm
+/-0.2dBm.
