08360-60201 Firmware Upgrade Kit 1

Situation:

Under some conditions, an 8510C and 836xx’s with firmware < 4 Jun 97 will report an RF un­lock message during test set calibration and operation. The RF unlock occurs when the 836xx
sweep is stopp ed mid sw ee p an d a ne w swee p st art e d mea su re ment restart key). Th e pr ob l em on l y
exists with 8510 systems.

A second problem was found only in 836xx firmware rev. 29 Feb 96 involving the Save/Recall
feature. When recalling a higher frequency range, a flat line can appear on the display. Pressing
recall a second time eliminates the problem and the instrument operates normally. Again, the
problem only effects 8510 systems.

Solution / Action:

For 836xx’s used in an 8510 system, if the customer reports an occasional unlock during test set
calibration/operation, replace the 836xx firmware using the upgrade firmware upgrade kit part
number 08360-60201.

For 836xx’s used in 8510 systems with firmware rev. 29 Feb 96, replace firmware using the firm­ware kit part number 08360-60201.
