Model P-400 Gibraltar Proximity Reader
• Bullet proof and flame resistant
• Designed for high crime areas where vandalism is a problem
• Virtually impossible to pry off a wall or mullion
• Perfect for inner city housing projects
The P-400 Gibraltar Proximity Reader, the latest member of Keri’s Pyramid Series Proximity line of readers, cards, and tags, is designed for use in areas where crime and vandalism are a constant threat.
Unique to the access control industry, the P-400’s enclosure is milled out of a single piece of stainless steel and is beveled such that it is nearly impossible to pry it off a wall. Protecting the window through which the proximity electronics read a card or tag is a material known as Fiber-Tex®. Capable of withstanding a 9-mm bullet fired at point blank range and UL-752 listed for bulletproof integrity, Fiber-Tex is manufactured using interwoven layers of fiberglass combined with a super-tough polymer. Additionally the electronics are sealed in epoxy potting, making the P-400 appropriate for installation indoors or out doors, in the most demanding of access control environments.
The P-400 is ideal for applications where other types of readers (including proximity) may fail due to vandalism to the reader itself. Many applications do not lend themselves to concealment of a reader inside or behind a wall, so the reader must be exposed to the environment. Examples of applications for the P400 may include housing projects, prisons, schools and universities, hospitals, and military facilities.
Compatible with virtually every manufacturer’s access control system, the single piece P-400 outputs data in industry standard pass-through Wiegand data formats. The P-400’s read range is up to 1 inch (25mm) and it operates from 5 to 14 VDC at a nominal current draw of 90 mA, allowing for flexibility in the use of power supplies. In most cases it can be powered directly from the access control panel. Additionally the P-400 includes an audio tone and has several built in diagnostic functions including a start up self-check and data line test.
A complete line of access credentials that may be used interchangeably with any Pyramid Series Proximity Reader complements the P-400. These credentials include the PSC-1 Light Proximity Card featuring a lifetime warranty, the dye sublimation printable ISO-thin PSM-2 Multi-Technology Proximity Card available with a magnetic stripe, and one of the smallest, most durable credentials available, the PSK-3
Proximity Key Ring Tag.
