NXT - 4R
Proximity Reader
Vandal resistant proximity reader for high crime areas
Bullet proof and  ame resistant
Virtually impossible to pry o a wall or mullion
Field proven in the toughest environments
Perfect for inner city housing projects
Encrypted data between Reader and Card or Tag
Supervised by Controller for immediate noti cation of failure or removal
The NXT 4R Proximity Reader is designed for areas where crime and vandalism are a constant threat to the access control system’s card readers. The outside housing is made of stainless steel and is beveled such that it is nearly impossible to get su cient leverage to pry it o a wall or mullion. The portion of the face of the reader that covers the electronics consists of many layers of interwoven  berglass that is UL 752 listed for bulletproof integrity. The reader can withstand 9mm bullets at a “point-blank”  ring range and will not be burned by common cigarette lighters, both which are typical sources of vandalism.
Many applications do not lend themselves to concealment of a reader inside or behind a wall, so the reader must be exposed to the environment. Exposed readers traditionally have invited vandalism, resulting in higher cost to the building owner because of constant replacement, inconvenience and lack of security for users due to system down time. The NXT 4R is  eld proven in its ability to function in open, hostile environments.
The NXT 4R is for use exclusively with Keri’s revolutionary access control system based on the NXT Series of IP-based Controllers. With an allowable cabling distance of 1,000 feet from the controller and using just 4-conductor or shielded CAT-5 cable, the NXT 4R dramatically reduces cabling costs when compared to traditional 6 or 7 conductor reader interfaces. Encrypting identi cation data between the card and reader and supervising the reader from the controller to check for failure provides the most secure reader solution available. The NXT 4R is compatible with all NXT Series Cards and Tags.
