Locate the smart.JD number on the cover of this booklet or on the back of your Smart Thermostat. YouqJ need this smart.ID number after you download and launch the Assurelink app
You need the following tools to install the Smart Thermostat:
Smartphone or camera to take a picture and to scan the QR code
, Phillips screwdriver
Level Pencil
, Drill with 3/16" bit (only if you are required to mount large trim plate)
Also have ready the following parts included with the Smart Thermostat:

Turn off the circuit breakers from your breaker box, often found in )/our basement,
or remove the fuses that power your heating/cooling system.

i. Remove the existing thermostat front cover or main unit and leave all wires connected.
ii, Use your smartphone to take a photo of the wire connections for later reference.
iii If any of the individual wires leading into the wall are connected to each other by short
jumper wires. Jumper wires are short wires between two connectors Remove these jumper wires, without disconnecting the main wires

Check the existing thermostat wire terminal identification carefully, and apply the wiring
labels provided with the Smart Thermostat to the wires with the same identification. This
will allow you to connect the wires to the correct terminals on the new Smart Thermostat
back plate. For a conventional system (Non-Heat Pump marked as Non--HP) you may find some of the following terminals connected: RC RH C Y1 Y2 W1 W2 and G. For a heat pump system(HP) you may find some of the foJJowlng terminals connected: R C L Y1
Y2 Wl O/BandG. Use the label set from the left or r ght side of the terminal strip that
matches your HVAC system (marked NomHP or HP).

Remove the wires from the exist[rig thermostat back pJate and remove the back plate from
the walJ.
Note: Keep the heating/cooling system power OFF to avoid risk of inju_]y.

if the holes that are [eft in the walJ from
removal of the old back plate take up more space than the new back pJate, install the new back pJate OVER the new [arge trim plate, as shown above. Skip to step 6 if the hoJes that are [eft in the walJ take up less space than the new back pJate,
Use a drill, screws and the plastic anchors to install both plates as shown above to the wall, If the old thermostat was installed into a standard metal or plast c electrical box with or without conduit, save and use the screws that were used. You will not need the wall

Mount the bad< plate using the screws and anchors provided, or if possible, use the
existin{ t anchors that are already in the wall
Make sure the _ symbol on the back plate is pointing upward.
Conrtect _JAres
Open the terminal latches up to allow the wires to be inserted into the holes. Push each wire into the hole of the terminal that has the same label
as the label on the wire, and push the latch down to secure the wire, Do not use excessive force on the latches

insert the 2 AA battedes into the battery compartment of the Smart Thermostat,

After inserting the 2 AA batteries into the Smart Thermostat, the display will come on showing all the displayed elements briefly. After a few
seconds, a menu wiJJ appear prompting you to select the type of system you have. Use the Up and Down keys to select one of the following system types and use the Menu/Select key to confirm your selection:
NHP--HE-C NHP--HG--C NH P--HE--NC NHP--HG-NC HP--O HP--B
(Electlic Heat with air conditioning) (Gas heat with air conditioning) (Electric heat without air conditioning) (Gas [seat without air conditioning) (Heat Pump wKh O reverse valve) (Heat Pump with B reverse valve)
Now you will be prompted to select your time zone. Use the Up and Down keys to select the correct Time Zone for your home and use the Menu/Select key to confirm your selection.
Now you will be prompted to select your desired time format (12 or 24 hour), set the current time and date, and indicate if you want to use Daylight Saving Time
