Frequently Asked Questions

  • How can I operate my microwave oven without the turntable and is it acceptable to turn the turntable upside down so as to accommodate a larger dish?

If you remove or turn over the turntable, you will not get good cooking results. Cooking utensils used in your oven must be adequately sized so as to be placed on the turntable.

  • Would I be able to place metal and aluminum pans in the microwave?

It is possible to use aluminum foil for shielding (only small and flat pieces), some small skewers, and very shallow foil trays (only if the tray is less than 1.9 centimeters in height, and it is filled with food to soak the microwave energy) but metal devices must not always be allowed to touch any walls or metal devices located on the door.

  • During cooking, is it expected for the turntable to spin to both directions?

This is a yes. A turn table moves either clockwise or anticlockwise depending on the rotation of the motor when any cooking is being performed during its cycle.

  • A microwave oven door sometimes has this waviness, is it supposed to do this?

This is a procedure of such wavy formation and does not cause any defect to the functionality of your microwave.

  • Yes, I do use a microwave oven and there are sounds of humming, can you explain this phenomenon?

The sound of a transformer could be heard when the magnetron tube commences its operation.

  • When food is put in a dish and microwaved, why is the dish hot? I thought this wasn't supposed to happen?

The conductive heat which radiates from the warmed microwaved food will be transferred to the dish which will then act as a conductor. So one should get ready to use hot pads while taking out food which has already been heated up.

  • What does the term “standing time” refer to?

The term “standing time” entails leaving food to stand for some time even after cooking which allows other food to be cooked in the microwave as well.

  • Why is there steam venting from the enoikosuker’s air stove exhaust?

Steam is generally associated with cooking. An appropriate design of a microwave oven is to create vents to eliminate the steam cooking.

PRECAUTIONS TO AVOID POSSIBLE EXPOSURE TO EXCESSIVE MICROWAVE
ENERGY
(a) Do not attempt to operate this oven with the
door open since open-door operation can
result in harmful exposure to microwave
energy. It is important not to defeat or tamper with the safety interlocks.
(b) Do not place any object between the oven
front face and the door or allow soil or cleaner residue to accumulate on sealing surfaces.
Electrical
requirements
Observe all governing codes and ordinances. A 120 Volt, 60 Hz, AC only,
15 or 20 amp fused electrical supply is
required. (A time-delay fuse is recommended.)
It is recommended that a separate circuit
serving only this appliance be provided.
(c) Do not operate the oven if it isdamaged. It is
particularly important that the oven door close properly and that there is no damage to the:
(1) Door (bent), (2) Hinges and latches (broken orloosened),
(3) Door seals and sealing surfaces.
(d) The oven should not be adjusted or repaired
by anyone except propedy qualified service personnel.
Electrical Shock Hazard

outlet. Do not remove ground prong. Do not use an adapter.
Do not use an extension cord.
Failure to follow these
instructions can result in death,
fire, or electrical shock.
GROUNDING INSTRUCTIONS
For all cord connected appliances: The microwave oven must be grounded.
In the event of an electrical short circuit,
grounding reduces the risk of electric shock by providing an escape wire for the
electric current. The microwave oven is equipped with a cord having a grounding
wire with a grounding plug. The plug must be plugged into an outlet that is properly installed and grounded.
Ensure proper ground
exists before use
SAVE THESEINSTRUCTIONS
WARNING: Improper use of the
grounding can result in a risk of electric shock.
Consult a qualified electrician or serviceman if the grounding instructions are not completely understood, or if doubt
exists as to whether the microwave oven is properly grounded.
Do not use an extension cord. If the power supply cord is too short, have a qualified
electrician or serviceman install an outlet near the microwave oven.
For a permanently connected appliance:
The microwave oven must be connected to a grounded, metallic, permanent wiring
system, or an equipment grounding conductor should be run with the circuit conductors and connected to the
equipment grounding terminal or lead on the microwave oven.
Getting to Know Your
Microwave Oven
This section discusses the concepts behind microwave cooking. It also shows you the
basics you need to know to operate your microwave oven. Please read this information before you use your oven.
How your microwave oven works
Microwave ovens are safe. Microwaveenergy isnot hot. It Magrtetron
causes food to make its own heat, and it's this heat that cooks thefood. u
Microwaves are likeTV waves, radio waves, or light waves. You cannot see them, but you can see what theydo.
A magnetron inthe microwaveoven produces microwaves. The microwaves move intothe oven where they contact food as it
turns on the turntable. The glass turntable of your microwave oven lets microwaves
pass through. Then they bounce off a metalfloor, back through the glassturntable, and areabsorbed bythe food. Metal_oor Glassturntable
Microwaves pass through most glass, paper, and plastics without heating them so food absorbs the energy. Microwaves bounceoff metal containers so food does not absorb the energy.
Oven cavity
Radio interference
Using your microwave oven maycause interferenceto your radio, TV, or similarequipment. When there is interference, you can reduce itor remove it by:
Cleaning the door and sealing surfaces of the oven.
Adjusting the receiving antenna of the radio or television.
Movingthe receiver awayfrom the microwaveoven.
Plugging the microwave oven into a different outlet so that the microwave oven and receiverare on different branch circuits.
For the best cooking results
Always cook food for the shortest cookingtime recommended. Check to see howthe food is cooking. If needed, touch Add Minutewhile the oven is operating or afterthe cookingcycle is over (seethe "Using add minute" section).
Stir, turn over, or rearrange the food being cooked about halfway through the cooking timefor all recipes. This will helpmake sure thefood is evenly cooked. Use extreme care when inserting stirring utensilonce heating has begun.
If you do not have a cover for a dish, usewax paper, or microwave-approvedpaper towels or plastic wrap. Remember to turn back a corner of the plastic wrap to vent steam during cooking.
Testing your microwave oven
To test the oven put about 1 cupof coldwater ina glass container inthe oven. Close the door. Make sure it latches. Cook at 100% power for 1 minute. When the time isup, the water should be heated.
6
Testing your dinnerware or cookware
Test dinnerware orcookware before using. To test a dishfor safe use, put itinto theovenwith a cup of
water besideit. Cook at 100% cook powerfor one minute. If the dish gets hot, do not use it. Some dishes (melamine, some ceramic dinnerware, etc.) absorb microwave energy, becomingtoo hot to
handle and slowing cookingtimes. Cooking inmetal containers not designed for microwave use could damage the oven,as could containers with hidden metal (twist-ties,foil lining, staples, metallic glaze or trim).
Operating safety precautions
Never lean on the door orallow a childto swing on itwhen the door is open.
Use hot pads. Microwave energy does not heatcontainers, butthe heat from the food can makethe container hot.
Do not use newspaper or other printed paper in the oven.
Do not dry flowers, fruit, herbs, wood, paper, gourds, or clothesin the oven.
Do not start amicrowave ovenwhen it isempty. Product life may be shortened. If you practice programming theoven, put a containerof water inthe oven. Itis normal forthe oven door to look wavy afterthe oven has
been running for a while.
Do not try to melt paraffin waxin the oven. Paraffinwax will not meltina microwave oven because it allows microwavesto pass through it.
Do not operate the microwaveoven unlessthe glass turntableissecurely in placeand can rotatefreely. The turntable can rotate in either direction.Make sure the turntable is correct-side up inthe oven.Handle your turntable with carewhen removing itfrom the oven to avoid possibly breakingit. If your turntable cracks or breaks, contact yourdealer for a replacement.
When you usea browning dish, the browningdish bottom must be at least 3A6 inchabove the turntable. Follow the directionssupplied with the browning dish.
Never cook or reheat a whole egg inside the shell. Steam buildupinwhole eggs may causethem to burst, and possiblydamage the oven. Slice hard-boiledeggs before heating. In rare cases, poachedeggs have been known to explode. Cover poached eggsand allow astanding time of one minute before cutting into
them.
For best results, stirany liquid several times during heating or reheating. Liquids heatedincertain containers(especially containersshaped like cylinders) may become overheated. The liquid may splash out
with a loud noiseduring or afterheating or when adding ingredients (coffee granules, tea bags, etc.).This can harm theoven.
Microwaves may not reachthe centerof a roast. The heat spreadsto the center fromthe outer, cooked areasjust asin regular oven cooking. This isone of the reasons for lettingsome foods (forexample, roastsor baked potatoes)stand for a while after cooking, or for stirring some foods duringthe cookingtime.
Do not deep fry in the oven. Microwavable utensilsare not suitable and itisdifficultto maintainappropriate deep-fryingtemperatures.
Do not overcook potatoes. At the endof the recommended cooking time, potatoes should beslightly firm because they will continue cookingduring standingtime. After microwaving, let potatoes standfor 5 minutes. They will finish cookingwhile standing.
Electrical connection

DEFROSTING TIPS
HOLD WARM
When usingAuto Defrost, the weight to be entered is the net weight in pounds and tenths of pounds (the weightof the food minus the container).
Before starting, make sure you have removedany of the metal twist-tieswhich often come withfrozen
food bags, and replacethem with strings or elastic bands.
Open containers such as cartons beforethey are placed inthe oven.
Always slit orpierce plasticpouchesor packaging.
If food is foil wrapped, remove foil and place itin a suitable container.
Slitthe skins,if any,of frozenfood such as sausage.
Bend plasticpouchesof food to ensure even defrosting.
Always underestimate defrostingtime. Ifdefrosted food is still icyin the center, return it to the
microwave ovenfor more defrosting.
The length ofdefrosting time varies accordingto
howsolidly the food is frozen.
The shape of the package affects how quicklyfood will defrost.Shallow packages will defrost more
quicklythan a deep block.
Asfood begins to defrost, separate the pieces.
Separated piecesdefrost moreeasily.
For best results, remove fish, shellfish, meat, and poultry from its original closed paperor plastic package (wrapper). Otherwise, the wrap will hold
steam andjuice close to the foods, which can cause the outer surface ofthe foods to cook.
For best results, shape your ground meat intothe form of a doughnut before freezing. When defrosting, scrape off thawed meatwhen the beep
sounds and continue defrosting.
Place foods in ashallow container oron a microwave roasting rack to catch drippings.
For better results, letfood stand after defrosting. (For more informationon standing time, seethe
"MicrowaveCooking Tips" section.)
Turn over food dudng defrosting or standing time.
Break apartand remove food as required.
Use the DEFROST PLATE providedfor complete
defrosting.
You can safelykeep hot, cooked food warm in your
microwave oven for upto99 minL_es,99 seconds (about I hour, 40 minutes). Youcan use Hold Warm

Using Sensor Cooking
SENSOR COOKING
SENSOR OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
SensorCook allows you to cookmost of your favorite
foods without selectingcooking times and power
levels.The oven automaticallydetermines required
cooking time for each food item. When the internal sensor detects a certainamount of humiditycoming
from thefood, itwill tellthe oven how much longer to
heat.The display willshow the remainingheating
time. For best results by Sensor, following these
recommendations.
Foodcooked with the sensor system should be at normal storagetemperature.
Glass Tray andoutside ofcontainer should be dry to assure bestcooking results.
Foodsshould alwaysbe covered looselywith microwavable plasticwrap, waxed paper or alid.
Donot open the door or touch the "STOP/clear" key during the sensing time. When sensingtime is over,
the oven beeps twiceand the remaining cooking time will appear in the display window. At this time you can open the door to stir, turnor rearrange the
food.

SENSOR COOKING GUIDE
Appropriate containers and coverings help assure good Sensor cookingresults.
Always use microwavable containers and cover them with lids or vented plasticwrap.
Neveruse tight-sealingplastic covers. They can prevent steam from escaping and cause foodto
overcook.
Matchthe amount tothe sizeof the container. Fill containersat leasthalf fullfor best results.
Besurethe outside ofthe cooking containerand the inside of the microwave ovenare dry before
placing food in the oven. Beads of moistureturning into steam can mislead the sensor.
